Mr March Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 Gawd this looks so good. I adore the creativity dripping off every shot. Quote
PetarB Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 It is gorgeous. Roman, in some of your screencaps, the pics look straight out of the kinds of books I have in my studio - ones with O'Neil cylinders and other 'visions' of the future. This is probably my most anticipated movie this year. Quote
PetarB Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 (edited) I think this is new, but I could be wrong: http://www.civilcooperationbureau.com Be sure to check out the Vehicles and Weapons sections... Edited April 30, 2013 by PetarB Quote

Mr March Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 New long trailer for Elysium. Damn, it looks great! http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=-RSDaRttpzk Quote
electric indigo Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 Looks like the movie I've been waiting for for the last 20 years... There are "blueprints" for Elysium done in a deliberate Syd Mead fashion at http://www.armadyne.net/ As it turns out, these were actually done by Syd Mead. Can't wait for the art book. Quote
TehPW Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 still think its not as original as others say, but its got my interest, finally. Certainly the setting is entertaining... Quote
anime52k8 Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 There are "blueprints" for Elysium done in a deliberate Syd Mead fashion at http://www.armadyne.net/ I like the page on bots: Hospitality: 1600 currently in private use, 120 deployed by Elysium Corporate Authority. Hazmat: 2,032 deployed on Elysium and Earth. Security: 983,002 Currently deployed by CCB. I'm still not sure If I'm interested in the movie, but Sid Mead has my attention. Quote
PetarB Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 Haha, I like those figures. Sounds about right. It's hard to resist watching new trailers for this movie (and others like it). Trailer editors are getting a little crazy these days, revealing so much... Quote
electric indigo Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 HD trailer is out. So does Max build the robots that beat him up? Quote
Macross_Fanboy Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 The setting kinda reminds me of a reverse UC gundam except the rich elite are on the colonies, and the poor are on earth. Still... with technology that advanced to build a space station that big with a fully enclosed enviroment, and can apparently cure cancer via body scan, what's keeping people from colonizing Mars for example? Truth is when I saw the "from the creator of District 9" my eyes kinda rolled and I thought here it comes another South Africa apartied allegory. That's what I first thought when I watched trailer when I went to watch MoS. Quote
electric indigo Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 Homeland Security Robot at SDCC: http://mecha-guy.blogspot.de/2013/07/homeland-security-robot-from-elysium-on.html It looks like a lawnmower. With a gun. Which is totally cool. Quote
PetarB Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 With my engineer hat on, too many exposed working surfaces for my liking. But with my fan hat on, this looks awesome. I want one! All the hardware from this movie so far looks great. Quote
Graham Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 D9 is one of my all-time favorite recent movies. So looking forward to this. Never heard of Children of Men, have to look it up. Graham Quote
Renato Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 D9 is one of my all-time favorite recent movies. So looking forward to this. Never heard of Children of Men, have to look it up. Graham Children of Men is really good, but it's a dystopian social commentary, with only very minimal SF elements, if at all. Quote
Kelsain Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 The cinematography is epic, though. Children of Men is really good, but it's a dystopian social commentary, with only very minimal SF elements, if at all. Quote
Bri Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Syd Mead designs, good actors and socio-critical sci-fi...I'm sold. Quote
Duke Togo Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Looks good, but I can't get Gunnm out of my head every time I see a trailer. Quote
Funkenstein Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 Did they pay Disney/Lucas to use the "droid" word? Quote
Gakken85 Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 I hope somebody good makes toys from this movie. I want that red bot really bad. I don't think 3A could pull off the gleam/clean look. Quote
ron5864 Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 Every time I see the interior view of Elysium, somehow I say to myself "So, this is where Newtypes are born". Quote
Duke Togo Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 I think I'm gonna wait for the Blu to hit Netflix. Quote
renegadeleader1 Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 So did anyone else notice the change in tone with the trailers? Originally it said rich people live here and poor people live here, let's loot the rich people! Cue Matt Damon acting like a sarcastic douche. Now its Rich people stole everything, kid is sick can't afford treatment, Matt Damon still a sarcastic douche but now dying from some type of exposure to something PAYBACK is coming! Quote
Dynaman Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 So did anyone else notice the change in tone with the trailers? Now its Rich people stole everything, kid is sick can't afford treatment, Matt Damon still a sarcastic douche but now dying from some type of exposure to something PAYBACK is coming! I noticed that from the very first trailer. Quote
OmegaD3k Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 Can anyone confirm/deny if there was a RoboCop trailer attached to Elysium? :/ Marketing for the RC reboot has been pretty poor so far, to say the least, and the trailer was rumored to be out today. The music to Elysium is pretty epic. Can’t wait to see it next week, hopefully. Quote
Uxi Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 Looks super cliche with at least a few decent visuals. Definitely a wait for Netflix type. Quote
Duke Togo Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 Looks super cliche with at least a few decent visuals. Definitely a wait for Netflix type. From what I've read, they really beat you over the head with the movie's message, in that heavy-handed Avatar sorta way. Quote
Uxi Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 I just meant the plot looks pretty predicable. Evangelical message movies... ugh. A shame, cause the production looks pretty good. Quote
robodragon Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 Just saw it, It was OK but I found my-self bored. Quote
