Generally "super sizing" doesn't work well with 3D printers... most common ones are size constrained.

I have no interest in a giant chunky monkey... 1/35 scale is the upper reaches for me and I'd rather it be an improvement on the DX toy if it were that big. I don't hate the 1/55 toy, I really like it, but I don't see how making it bigger would make it better to me.

Have you seen those mega-sized optimus primes?  A similar mega-sized Chunky Monkey version would be both relatively affordable and "high quolity"! :D

Wish I knew someone close to some of the 3P companies to see if they would pass off the idea.

I am not 100% sure, but I think someone on the boards was actually trying to do such a project a long while back.  I think he was going for all metal.....not sure if he ever finished that project.

I am sure it would be an easy project for someone with the skills in 3D modelling software, just copy the individual 1/55 parts and super-size them to the desired scale.  Woner what that would cost as a commisioned piece?

I’m aware of oversized KOs and I know some are good or better quality than the originals. Just had to qualify that I need those standards to consider purchasing. I don’t need one or ever thought about it as I would be happy to just get reissues but if it happens and it meets my specs, I’m in!

I am no expert in 3D printing so I'll take your word on it....with that said....none of the super-sized toys that have been released were in my opinion an attempt at making them better.....I think they have just been an exercise in the line of thought that by virtue of size alone  "Bigger is Better"....perhaps also a bit of a nod to the old school Jumbo Machinder beasts.

I guess the closest thing to what such a jumbo scaled chunky would be like....is a completely niche boutique style toy....like those super-sized vintage Star Wars carded figures....not my cup of tea....but clearly someone likes them as they keep releasing them.

You never know....40th Anniversary of DYRL? is coming up soon......maybe they can use the molds from their last "Origin of Valkyrie" series to recreate a VE-1 and VT-1 set.....the bonus is that we would finally get pointy nosecones!

Or just cross your fingers and hope Bandai makes "DX" versions if you just want bigger versions of both.

I wouldn’t mind seeing the 1/55’s get reissued. I’d definitely buy a “few” more.
The DX is not a replacement or substitution for the Chunky Monkey. They both serve very different purposes to me.

I got a fever. And the only prescription is more chunky monkeys!

The yamato 1/48s are very reasonable these days due to the DX releases.

Got it. Thanks for letting me know.

I'm sorry but I couldn't see cause the auctions have ended (and I don't have a yahoo japan account) but are these that are listed above MIB or opened/used? Thank you.

The links are still valid and still show the item descriptions used in the original listings....just click on one of the links and use google translate to find out.

Just for your info, the 1/48 Yamato's (with a few exceptions) and 1/60 Yamato's that have since been made "obsolete" with newer versions, such as the Bandai DX YF-19, have more or less lost much of their value.  It really doesn't make much of a difference to the current market price wether it is opened/used/displayed or MISB, unless you happen to find a collector who insists on MISB or "brand new, never removed from box"....in that case I would estimate that you can possibly get a 10-20% premium on top of the market price of used samples.  Hope that helps.

Original Kawamori drawn settei of the Scout Regult.............810,000 JPY............maybe Bandai was done with it and we will get an HMR announcement soon!

Yeah, seems really reasonable but just can’t justify paying 4x msrp for something I already have several versions of. I know, none are the same coveted strike pack but just can’t do it now.

Fixed:p

This is how my "logic" would handle that situation. I would sell some or all of the versions without Strikes and get it.;)

That's actually a good idea but I don't sell my collection. Need to keep the warehouse packed! Parting with any Chunky is just against my programming.
