Great pieces of Macross toy history... Even though the V1 tends to be forgotten and maligned by most....it started the current new age in Macross valkyrie toy collectibles...with apparently no end in sight! Here is a Yamato catalog featuring some of your V1 valks.... http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=41794 Edited February 18, 2015 by jvmacross Quote
SuperSenpai Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 (edited) Even though there are newer toys that look better, they don't look terrible either. Considering a lot of people leave their valks in fighter mode and never transform them, the V1 Yamatos aren't a bad way to go if that's what you're going to do. Every now and then I toy with the idea of picking up a V1 VF-1D to display in fighter mode with my TV 1S, since I've all but despaired of Arcadia ever reissuing the V2 1D. happy_spike Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 Cool Catalogue! (do you have a spare?)Yeah I think so too. They marked a huge jump in toy quality and even though compared to modern versions they are not as good, they still display great and have fantastic history attached! Quote

I already got it in my Cart and notice that it says Status A. So I have to cancel and check the item first, big mistake, it was gone after just a few seconds Quote

wmkjr Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 (edited) It is nowadays if it's the weathered version set like it's listed and Arcadia ain't releasing sets to satisfy our demands for the regular S/S parts. The parts set alone must be around 18000 yen last check. Nice grabs at the expo and con. Edited February 21, 2015 by wmkjr Quote

Full disclosure I don't watch the prices of the weathered versions at all so I don't know if that was a fair price or not, it just seems like a big bullet to bite. -b. Quote

Good luck to those who are! -b. yeah, i agree i wouldn't pay that much. i was after weathered max vf-1s for a long time. and was at one point. willing to pay crazy prices but found one at a decent price before prices sky rocketed: i guess the collectiblity charm is there... bc yamato limited the max 1s to 300 pieces. what separated max 1s from all other weathered editions was the the different colored intakes, head lasers and feet vs the regular max 1s making him another variant. (all the others were just regular versions with weathering applied) the variant light grey colors make it more low viz, complimented w/ weathering effects... man, these pics still look good Edited February 22, 2015 by davidwhangchoi Quote

Spiff Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 Is it just me or are the prices of Yamato valks rocketing up on eBay? Bandai frontier valks prices are staying steady, but the Yamato's are climbing up. I wonder if the market is sensing scarcity? Quote
DuffCon Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 Is it just me or are the prices of Yamato valks rocketing up on eBay? Bandai frontier valks prices are staying steady, but the Yamato's are climbing up. I wonder if the market is sensing scarcity? I agree; I follow eBay very closely and find that even open box common variants are going around 130-140ish. To me it appears that the market has realized that Arcadia will not be producing in anything close to large volumes and so the only alternative for your habit is the secondary market. I for one will only buy if I can get a deal but it looks like those days are over. Shame, but I have high hopes for the hi-metal line. The 1/60 scale has all but priced me out. Quote
SuperSenpai Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 Yeah, I followed a few auctions a while back of several TV-style valks. They were all ones I already owned, so really just following to see what they would end at. I think the auctions all finished at $150 or higher, without shipping. And they were unboxed valks too. I agree with Duff -- Arcadia is really dragging their feet on the reissues, and may possibly never get to some variants, so people who own those are hanging on to them, and those that are selling can command high prices. The 1/60 Zentran cosplay outfit was an all-time record! Wonder if that was yen-for-yen the biggest value increase? What was the original MSRP for that thing? Quote

Gakken85 Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 yamato panic is officially back Idk if it's panic... so much as people realized we won't get better versions from Arcadia, so it's drying up. People are holding on to their Yammies and/or selling them for more because of scarcity. Yahoo Japan used to be 4 pages of 1/60's, now it's like 1 page. Ebay is only a handful of listings. Quote
