Just a comment on an otherwise very nice b2five Snapping Turtle:

Unfortunately, the head is static.

It does not move like the Actic-Gear's gimmick.   🤨

A bit disappointing, but otherwise it's all good!

Welp!

Turns out the b2five can move and open the head on the Snapping Turtle.  It was just different from the way the Actic-Gear implemented it, i.e. the head connection is actually a swivel-hinge, instead of the head-slider in the Actic Gear.

It was just really latched tight yesterday that I thought it was damn unmovable fused static in place, but just really needed some little wiggle.

So, I'm more glad now than yesterday.

I really gotta commend the B2Five team for this simple but effective innovation!

Wooo hooo!!!

Btw, the instruction-paper that came with this toy does not mention this particular feature and process at all.

Ok.

Fwiw, the Turtle and Marshy (and their pilot-figures) proved quite resilient and tough even with the rather rough handling by these guys...

I might be more interested in those if they had the pilots. There’s probably gonna be a ps version with all the extras, but the question will be if they get released as a pack or individually

I really like how it looks but like I said above, I’ll wait for the upcoming ps version in a few months. Then there’s gonna be a pilot figure, full interior and downform parts.

Wave really needs to quit doing this basic release, then six months later a rerelease with all the goodies.

Displayed at Bandai Tamashii Nations' kiosk at BicCamera Akihabara. Not sure what model kit line was used but those 80's mechas looks awesome.

Shouldn't they start with a scopedog?

Tell that to Wave as well. They also started with the Rabidly Dog when they did their 1/35 kits

Interesting.

This item's 15.9cm/6.2" height is about:

  • just a bit under half of the 33.5cm of their original 1/12 Scopedog product
  • shorter than the legendray 1/18 Takara DMZ-04 that's about 27cm.
  • a bit shorter than the Bandai 1/20 Scopedog (7.5")
  • about as close to a Wave 1/24 Scopedog (6.5")

It does look quite nicely detailed with opening cockpit and pilot.

No mention of metal/diecast content,  "Zinc alloy diecast inner-frame", but I still hope the plastic is as sturdy as the old 35Max toys.

Nice! It does mention zinc alloy diecast for internal frame. :good:

Anyone have experience tightening the joints on the Yamato 1/12 Scopedogs?  The hip ball joints in particular on my Turbo Custom have gotten very loose and I believe it is the rubber "weeping" and not providing any friction.  The wheels are doing the same thing (it's like they have a slight oily coating) although the rubber doesn't actually appear to be decaying as such.  Was planning on giving all the rubber bits a wipedown with some isopropyl alcohol but not quite sure if this will make things better or worse.

Thanks.
