Gakken85 Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Saw this on Tumblr. Very nice. WildRiver荒川直人ジオラマ作品展 - WildRiver’s World 円形劇場 - 2012/7/5~12 コトブキヤ 秋葉原館 5F <コトブキヤベース・アキバ> Quote
renegadeleader1 Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 I got my first 1/20 Bandai Votoms kit today. Fyana's Brutishdog. I payed a little bit more than the HLJ price for it, but with shipping it would have ended up about the same. Quote
Gakken85 Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 How long do you think it will take you to put it together? Quote
DarrinG Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 Post progress pics here! Nothing much Votoms going on these days. This one looks extremely well done . . . Quote
renegadeleader1 Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 How long do you think it will take you to put it together? It looks to be about the same level as a master grade gundam kit so assembling wouldn't take too long maybe 2 or 3 days. I could probly do it in a day since I'm on vacation. Keep in mind that's without painting which makes me a little discouraged given my skill level and what I've seen in this thread. Quote
renegadeleader1 Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 Out of curiosity would any of you pay $75.00 for a Bandai 1/20 Red Shoulder Custom that's not the metal spec? Quote
renegadeleader1 Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 For now I am only 1/12 toy line . . . I'm not selling, just trying to figure out if its a bad price to purchase. Quote
renegadeleader1 Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 I just realized something rather odd after watching a bit of the Pailsen files. In all of the films, OVAs, and TV series we never actually what a Balarant Union AT pilot looks like do we? We actually never see or hear much from them at all. Quote
Major Tom Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 (edited) Out of curiosity would any of you pay $75.00 for a Bandai 1/20 Red Shoulder Custom that's not the metal spec? $75 seems a bit high. The one at HLJ is about $45 http://www.hlj.com/product/BAN951922/Sci Edited October 25, 2014 by Major Tom Quote
jenius Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 If anybody wants a DMZ Rabidly Dog, someone is flooding eBay with loose ones. I'm guessing they got their hands on all the factory rejects or something. Quote
Gakken85 Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 I've seen a few 1/12 Brutish Dogs on man for $350. Not a good price by any means. Quote
bong Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 Just wanna share my custom 1/12 yamato scopedog! hope you like it! thanks for looking! Quote
jenius Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 (edited) That looks like a true junkyard dog. Edit - I think that's what you were going for (ie. heavily weathered) so that shouldn't be read as an insult. Edited November 16, 2014 by jenius Quote
bong Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 Looks awesome bong. nice job. thank you, Gakken85 Quote

warchimedes Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 Hello, everyone. Long time lurker, first time poster here.I've recently become addicted to everything Votoms. My recent acquisitions are the v1.5/2.0 Yamato 1/12s. And I made this (thanks for the email, bong): I have a question for you guys. What's the difference between the latest releases like the one below and the v1.5/2.0s? From my experience, the latter ain't too bad. There's some looseness and fiddliness, to be sure, but nothing a bit of nail polish can't fix. Why are the latest releases going for 3 times or more than what the v1.5/2.0 go for? Quote
jenius Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 Looks great, I think Yamato was pretty limited in the production run size for the latter relates. I paid a grip for my Odon set Quote
warchimedes Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 Looks great, I think Yamato was pretty limited in the production run size for the latter relates. I paid a grip for my Odon set Apart from rarity, would you know how The Last Red Shoulder Custom set is better than Red Shoulder v2.0? I have the latter, and it's pretty solid even with all the add ons. Sweet looking Bacchus! Thanks man. Here are a few more Votoms from my collection. Quote
Gakken85 Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 Thats a great rusted look. Great job. Quote
jenius Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 It's really hard to say why the stand alone TC, LRS, and Odon set cost so much. They're OVA dogs so you'd think they wouldn't be worth as much as the main TV dogs but that doesn't appear to be the case. Since they are turbo customs maybe they get a little bump from being the bad@ss amongst bad@sses. I think the truth is that they're the final releases so they have the fewest production issues and by then the Votoms line was already failing for Yamato so they didn't make many and that's the biggest driver in price. DarrinG Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 I would buy a 1/12 Desert Fatty in a heartbeat . . . Quote
Gakken85 Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 (edited) Id say they cost so much because... it sold at those prices at auction a year or so ago and that's just what secondary markets have stayed at. There just aren't enough Votoms fans to swing prices one way or another. They are in the SEMI-sweet spot of being rare, but not being super desired outside of the small segment of Votoms fans. Most casual Votoms fans will settle for a $150 dollar V1 IF they are going to get one. I personally think $400 for any of them is a bit much for the toy you get. It's big, but a bit dated. However, if you're a huge fan and you like to mod and paint - I can see somebody paying that much. They can be beautiful and impressive for sure. It's an odd piece. I think you need to be a hobby guy to full appreciate it. Edited November 22, 2014 by Gakken85 Quote

warchimedes Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 nice job! Thanks man. Got the Melquiya version of the v1.0 Scopedog, gonna turn it into a Purple Bear. The v1.0 mold isn't that bad. The only difference I see with v2.0 is the angle of the hip joint lock and the lack of ratchets on the toes. Quote
jenius Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 Did you hunt down one of the Wonderfest conversion kits for the Purple Bear? Quote
warchimedes Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 Did you hunt down one of the Wonderfest conversion kits for the Purple Bear? Yeah, I saw it on your website. Been looking for it ever since, no luck. Until I find one, this will have to do. To be clear, the Purple Bear visor I'm using here comes from the Strong Bacchus set. Quote
warchimedes Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 I also got the Yamato Parachute Sack. Do you guys know that it came with extra pieces that strengthened the armpit joints and stiffened the toes of the mechs? It was a cool surprise to me, and now my v1.0 Scopedog is much more stable. Quote
warchimedes Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 I just found out that the Series 2 Weapons Pack also includes the joint stabilizers, including pieces for the elbows and heels. Quote
Gakken85 Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 (edited) Yeah it comes with a piece of plastic that will keep the feet locked, and the elbows locked - otherwise none of the weapons would stay fixed. Edited December 7, 2014 by Gakken85 Quote
