Greyryder Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 blame it on the droids who repaired the door on the Falcon that fell on his ankle and broke it. Greedo shut first, Quote
Black Valkyrie Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 Another E7 prediction from the past, 1983. Quote
Duke Togo Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 (edited) Rian Johnson to Write and Direct ‘Star Wars Episode VIII’ I'm not sure how I feel about this. Might it be time to change the name of this thread? "Star Wars Sequel and Spin-off Film Thread," or something like that. Edited June 20, 2014 by Duke Togo Quote
Gakken85 Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 Looks like the Avengers pretty much changed cinema. You're going to see IP's that try to create ongoing "universes" where characters rotate in and out and they build stories. I'm all for it. I just hope they keep up the quality. Quote
azrael Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 Might it be time to change the name of this thread? "Star Wars Sequel and Spin-off Film Thread," or something like that. Let's see how Ep 7 does first. Quote
Gakken85 Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 Also, Looper was fair at best. Not sure I feel excited about him taking a movie or two, but still... anything is better than what Lucas did. Quote
Duke Togo Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 Let's see how Ep 7 does first. Well, we've now covered two sequel movies and two spin-offs in this discussion. Just sayin'. Quote
Kanedas Bike Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 Rumor, Tom Cruise in SW-E6 ?! I like Tom Cruise haha Never gonna happen. And once again to prove how committed I am to that declaration, I'm willing to bet one of Gakken's Godzilla figures if I'm wrong. -b. Quote
Dynaman Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 Well, he certainly will not be in Episode 6, unless he is the new Face of Vader. Quote
Duke Togo Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 JJ probably gave him a set tour, that's all. Though, it wouldn't totally surprise me if he showed up, unrecognizable, in alien makeup in the background of some scene. Quote
TangledThorns Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 I like Tom Cruise haha Tom Cruise does have a great handle on sci-fi so I wouldn't mind seeing in a spin-off Star Wars film. Quote
Roy Focker Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 Would be awesome if Tom Cruise makes 3 second cameo appearance as X-Wing pilot with a Maverick painted helmet who screams "I'm hit" before his X-wing explodes. Quote
Hikuro Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 read a headliner that the movie could be pushed back a bit to let Harrison Ford recover as it'll take longer for rehab than initially believed. Any confirmations? Quote
electric indigo Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 Rumor, Tom Cruise in SW-E6 ?! Isn't he a little short for a Stormtrooper? Quote
renegadeleader1 Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 Isn't he a little short for a Stormtrooper? Maybe, but not for an ewok! Quote
Black Valkyrie Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 May be they should cast Pete Burns in the movie . Quote

TangledThorns Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 They do not want to miss that Holiday release date, if they do it will be news everywhere. It'd still be a win, a big one too, if it was pushed to a Summer release. Yes, I know 2016 is crowded but this is Star Wars. Quote
Duke Togo Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 Also, Carrie Fisher's daughter is in the movie. Quote
Black Valkyrie Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 Kevin Smith Talks Star Wars : Episode 7. Confirms Stormtroopers ! Quote
Mr March Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 Love Rian Johnson and he's kind of a film/internet geek mascot, so it's great to see a guy I've followed for so long doing so well. From Brick to Breaking Bad to Looper, he's easily one of my favorite directors currently working. I'd probably prefer Johnson doing the Star Wars films over Abrams. I will say this; I've said several times that Star Wars - to a viewer like me - cannot rely upon nostalgia or brand recognition anymore because I have been ruined by the lousy prequels. So it's my feeling this first new Star Wars VII film from Abrams has to be a great film, otherwise I won't see another. But I have to say that even if this first new episode is kind average, I'd seriously consider coming back to the series to see if Rian can pull off something far more interesting with VIII and IX. Duke Togo Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 (edited) I know I'm kinda alone on this around here, but I didn't think Looper was good at all. Edited July 2, 2014 by Duke Togo Quote
Mr March Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 You never know....perhaps once again the "middle one" will be regarded as the best.... I want them all to be good. But if Johnson's 2nd film (and his script for the third) are the better of the three, well that's okay too I know I'm kinda alone on this around here, but I didn't think Looper was good at all. This being MW, I seriously doubt you're alone But seriously, no big deal. Personally, I have much more faith in Johnson's ability to make a good Star Wars film than Abrams. I just wish Johnson was going first instead of Abrams, so if he messed up I wouldn't have to give this series a second chance. I just have no patience for these trilogies or franchises anymore, like Pirates, Transformers, Matrix, etc. I'm long past the age where I keep watching in vain, desparately hoping the films will improve with sequels. First sign of decline, I'm out. I just hope we get good Abrams this first time at the helm and not bad Abrams. Quote
Dynaman Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 I liked Looper but - it was not Star Wars like in any way. One good thing about the ST films JJ directed is that he put a bit of SW into ST. Hopefully the director of Looper can switch to the more banter driven dialog and pace of Star Wars. Quote
Guvava Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 (edited) Cruise may be a bit odd, but he does play a pretty good antagonist. I think he did a good job as Lestat in Interview and as Frank Mackey in Magnolia. I prefer him in those roles than the bland protagonists he always plays. I have to admit I liked Edge of Tomorrow though. There's definitely a darker side to that dude for sure. Edited July 3, 2014 by Guvava Quote
Gakken85 Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 Looper had some cool moments, but overall it wasn't vvery interesting or memorable. That said it could be a bad script, and a bad movie. Quote
Black Valkyrie Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 Imperial forces spotted near Frankfurt ! Quote
