mslz22 Posted August 7, 2014 Author Posted August 7, 2014 All the molds for the right leg are done, I need to modify 2 parts to make the parts i need for the left leg. It has to do with the positioning of the leg, some parts like the upper leg, mid guard etc are fine for either side, but the main foot and the part that goes between the main foot and that back lower part of the foot need to be modified. I don't think i can put this in the model section until i have a finished build to show per the new MW rules. Once the last molds are done I will start taking orders for those who want to do installments, you don't need to do installments, you can wait for the full kit to be done. It will be 3 installments of $150 + shipping if you go that route. My hope for the schedule would be, start leg installment casting in about a week and a half. Mid Sept, arm installments, and finally Mid Oct body installments. After that the kit will be available as long as it can be, but this thing is so huge I only plan 1 set of molds. Talked with JT Graphics about decals at Jerseyfest, those will take a little time and will likely come with the body installment. thanks mike Quote
Spitfire_BR Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 Great news, you already can put my name in the list ! Actually the installments make the payment easer to me - and i think for a lot of fellows too - and we need to remember the evil custons service overhere on Brazil, if a huge box weighing tons arrives on their hands they'll smile and drink my blood with expansives taxes. I prefer to try my luck with 3 differents packages. Quote

mslz22 Posted August 15, 2014 Author Posted August 15, 2014 Finished the mods to the parts to make the left foot, will get the molds going on that today. I have to say that i am getting pretty excited to see both legs cast up and even mocked up a bit, I gave this thing a pretty aggressive stance for the monstar, but i think it will look cool. thanks mike Quote

mslz22 Posted August 18, 2014 Author Posted August 18, 2014 Soon, last molds need to post cure a day or so before i can pull a casting. Looked at the arms today, those should be pretty quick to finish and mold as all they need is a little scratch and dent fixes and the panel lines in the main arm cannon.... thanks mike pictures, pictures, PICTURES !!!!! mslz22 Posted August 22, 2014 Author Posted August 22, 2014 Leg installment molds are done, will post ordering info in FS by Monday. For now, a few pics. Look how big it is compared to a 1/72nd battroid!! thanks mike . Quote
g0nk Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 (edited) Signed up just so I can be a part of this. I NEED to buy this from you. Edited August 23, 2014 by g0nk Quote
mslz22 Posted August 24, 2014 Author Posted August 24, 2014 So i am running into a quandary in regard to doing this in 3 installments. The issue being that for the first installment the packed weight is 8 pounds, yep it's a lot of resin just for the legs! The issue is that and 8 pound box going to say Germany, is $60 in shipping. The other 2 installments will be lighter but bigger boxes. So the issue is that in 3 installments an out of USA shipping total will approach $150-$180. However a 15 pound box, which is my my estimated total shipping weight for a full kit, would only be like $80. So splitting it into 3 installments and shipping them in 3 boxes, will add $100 to the total price for out of USA. USA is not so bad but a bit of the same issue, 3 boxes will run about $75 in shipping but one big box will be only about $35.00 So before i start a payment thread there are a couple of options for you guys to think about. Do you want 3 installments, 3 boxes with the added shipping cost. Or 1 full kit payment when it's done, then ship one big box, saving on shipping. Or option 3, take payments for each installment, thus spreading out the payments, but hold shipping until the whole kit is done. In the #3 option i would be casting your parts as soon as i get payment, but holding them here for 1 big shipment. I can also offer any of the 3 above options, but if everyone prefers one over the other, it may be easier to just have everyone on the same page. Let me know what you guys think,. thanks mike Quote
DarkArchon3000 Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 Option #3 sounds preferable to me, but I'll go with whatever works best for everyone. Quote
Spitfire_BR Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 Thanks for checking the shipping rates and the payment options, i'm in for Option #3 - patience is my best gift. Quote
Raya1823 Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Good Sir, I know this isn't the FS tread, but option #3 for this guy.. Quote
Ghadrack Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 (edited) I'm in, but I'm getting old and my reading comprehension isn't doing so great this afternoon apparently. So I saw a price estimate in an earlier posting, but I may have missed the final kit cost itself. So I'd be game for the single payment and shipping, or the installment payments with a single shipment version. So what's the damage for a U.S. customer with shipping to lets say..... Tennessee? Is the final kit price $450 plus shipping to be determined when castings are ready to go? Edited August 25, 2014 by Ghadrack Quote
Nyankodevice Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 i'm in too...... option 2 or 3 would be my preferred! but im game for what ever the majority decides. Quote
mslz22 Posted August 26, 2014 Author Posted August 26, 2014 I will likely just offer all three shipping and payment options, I will post payment info soon. I need just another day or so, I made the decision to remold a couple of parts. The issue was that on a couple of parts the rivets were too deep, they were made from foam and even with the lightest touch the rivets were too deep, it was distracting. I took the first castings of those parts and will re do the rivets today and remold tomorrow, it will only be a delay of a couple of days. These are the only parts i should have that issue with, I made them before i was using renshape for stuff this size. I actually just poured the first arm part mold so I am still being productive on this thru the delay. thanks miek Quote
mslz22 Posted August 29, 2014 Author Posted August 29, 2014 Remold on those 2 parts are done, need a day for post cure on them but i am up and ready to start casting legs. I will make a FSale thread tomorrow. thanks mike Quote
mslz22 Posted August 31, 2014 Author Posted August 31, 2014 Arm cannon pattern is detailed and done. This part will be rotocast, much easier for the modeler compared to the V1 with the split parts, and hollow casting will make it easier for the arms to hold the part up. thanks mike Quote
Spitfire_BR Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 think about this suggestion: make an comparation slideshow with both versions of the Monster, to show us the improvementes. Just my 2 cents ! Quote
Steve71 Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 I'm definitely interested in this monster, and I mean monster, too. Quote
mslz22 Posted September 4, 2014 Author Posted September 4, 2014 Started a formal FS thread. http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=41638 I know many of you have PM'd me already about interest in a kit, but please send a new PM now that i am taking orders so that i do not miss anyone. This is a very limited kit and as far as i am concerned right now I am only doing this one set of molds. It's so expensive to produce i am just hoping to break even and call it a day on this kit. Arm pattern is done and molds for that start this weekend. thanks everyone. mike Quote
Wasabi-san Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 PM sent... One kit in one BIIIG box. Thanks. Quote
edstuff Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 I was looking for an introduction thread on this forum and didn't find one. Apologies if I'm just blind. But I wanted my first post to go somewhere cool and this is about the coolest thread I've seen on any forum anywhere. You sir are sick! You are insane! Keep it up. I can't wait to see what this looks like completed. Amazing. Quote

mslz22 Posted September 23, 2014 Author Posted September 23, 2014 Wow, very sorry to hear that. I can't even imagine dealing with an issue for that long with no resolution! i Know what you're talking about, suffering from staph infection since 1985 with more than 20 surgery and countless time in hospital beds, it's the real hell. I'm blessed and can lives normally but i say, i'm blessed. Hope everything get fine for you ! So quick update, I had to get 2 emergency infusions of antibiotics for what turned out to be an infected poisonous spider bite, I am on the mend and cautiously optimistic it will be ok. On the monstaar front, arm patterns and molds are done. I did a test cast on the arms and all systems seem to be a go. Finishing the last bits of details on the body belly etc now, still hope to be mid October for the full thing up and running. Pics when i can find a minute, playing catch up from my downtime a bit this week. thanks mike Quote
