All I get is a prompt to install software for their platform. Baidu is a cloud service based in China, and requires you to install their client before you can use it (like Dropbox or other similar things). That said, I just Googled "baidu downloaders" and used one of the online services that came up. I don't remember which one, but it worked, and then the Blender import tools are part of the archive and you're off to the races. If that's too much work, check towards the end of that thread I linked before because the owner of the archive posted a ton of links to other archives and what you want might be part of those (mostly Google Drive links) and be easier to get to. There are a handful of threads in the Fan Works forum with links to stuff like this, so hunt around a bit as well. For my part, the Macross 30 archive has been the most useful resource, but it all depends on what you're trying to do. Quote
NoctisTalem Posted January 13 Posted January 13 Is there anybody who has a working transformable Battle 7/ 25 that can be 3D printed?\ Quote
guyxxed Posted January 14 Posted January 14 There is a battle 25 in the other thread I linked to. It is modular and able to be transformed, though the rigging to do so in an animation would be up to you to create, from what I see. Quote
guyxxed Posted January 17 Posted January 17 Okay, so I've been messing around trying to learn animation for Unity this week, and somehow this happened. Don't know if it counts as progress, but it feels appropriate somehow. Happy Friday, and I apologize. 😉 Dancing 31J 2.mp4 Quote

guyxxed Posted February 19 Posted February 19 Been awhile, so figured I would share a few things I've been working on lately. Most recent is filling in the Al Shahal map with locations from the show, currently working on the spaceport where Mikimo ditched Mirage. Not much is shown in the anime, so having to improvise a bit using pieces found here and there across the internet. Still need to make textures for the buildings and figure out a way to put roads down that doesn't make my GPU explode with too many polygons, but so far so good I think. I kitbashed some Halo maps to make a train station and some other buildings (the Halo design aesthetic, especially the cities, fits the Macross world aesthetic pretty well, in my opinion, and adds something interesting to explore on a human scale). Still a ways to go, but I'm liking it so far. Other thing I've been playing with is to make some Al Shahal specific valkyries. I've been using the Frontier NUNS 25s I made as placeholders, but those obviously make no sense for the setting. I dropped in the Al Shahal VF-171s from Delta as the obvious replacement, but found them boring. Making an Al Shahal NUNS version of the 25 was my next try, but that also makes no sense, since the Brsingr Cluster is generally pretty poor and the local NUNS probably can't afford 25s. That's when the idea hit me that the NUNS might be poor, but certainly some residents of Al Shahal won't be, since it's apparently a big trading center, and since PMCs are all the rage in Macross I made a private branded version of the 25s as what I'm calling the "Royal Guard" for whatever family this is. I'm thinking maybe a couple of different liveries (and probably branching out to something other than just 25s) to represent different local families that have their own protection squads. Anyway, fun to play with and nice to show. Enjoy, and any feedback, suggestions, or ideas are welcome! Quote
PointBlankSniper Posted February 19 Posted February 19 (edited) At some point, I thought I was tripping when I thought I saw tan 25s in Delta, but couldn't find them again. I probably mistook some shots of the 17s. But now you've made my delusions real. And you are going to end up building a whole game of your own at this rate lol Edited February 19 by PointBlankSniper Quote
guyxxed Posted February 19 Posted February 19 That would not be a bad outcome! 😉 Don't know if I'll ever get there, but it's fun trying. Quote
guyxxed Posted February 28 Posted February 28 Small update, have added a competing trade family in the Al Shahal community with their own "royal guard" units. The VF-22 seemed a natural choice (and I've pretty well overrepresented the VF-25 at this point 😉). This livery was based off of some Iranian gaurd uniforms I found online (the VF-25s above were based on a Saudi scheme). I need to make panel lines and rig the model for posing, but am pretty happy with how it turned out. No idea where any of this is leading, but I'm having fun in the process! I can imagine a scenario where the different families come into conflict and the NUNS cannon fodder have to step in to separate them, though given rich people antics, more likely these and the 25s above would just be arm wrestling for the prime parking spaces at the spaceport. Enjoy, and have a good weekend! Quote
PointBlankSniper Posted March 1 Posted March 1 (edited) Now you have 22 models? Your powers are getting out of hand. Actually kind of curios how this depiction transforms the bicep/shoulder area in relation to the intakes and the piece with the red triangle that covers the shoulder socket. Every depiction of it has cheated with different methods of magic and morphing in some way, if not copious amounts of outright completely changing the design and hoping nobody notices, like the DX. In my head, I've solved the nose cone proportions, leg proportions and storage accomodating the correct back pack main engine sizes, with some combindation of transformation tricks that already exist. But shoulder transformation is actually the biggest jank that requires some very abitrary mechanical additions to work as vaguely depicted, especially when delimiter mode dictates there be a socket under the triangle piece. Edited March 1 by PointBlankSniper Quote
guyxxed Posted March 2 Posted March 2 I will have to dig into the models, but I highly suspect the transformation is mostly magic. 3D is almost as forgiving as animation is, and there are a lot of parts that float around on these models. The 25s, for example, have nothing actually connecting the legs to the groin in battroid, and I'm pretty sure the shoulders on the 22 just kind of "end up" there. I'll take a look and let you know. As for the growing fleet, I haven't even touched the VF-11s, 19s, or SV-51s available in the game yet. M30 is quite the teasure trove of high quality valkyrie models! Quote
guyxxed Posted March 3 Posted March 3 My suspicion was correct, transformation on this one is pure magic. There is no "mechanism", the shoulders/arms just float up into position from fighter to battroid. The shoulder gaurd even sticks through the other parts in fighter a bit. Polygons can be very forgiving. 😉 Quote
PointBlankSniper Posted March 5 Posted March 5 Hory shet, them polygons! Thanks for confirming nobody knows how to cheat the shoulder to intake socket connection, or morph/origami the shoulder armor into that very panel it clips through without completely ignoring the original design. AFAIK, all transforming toys have elected to butcher the shape of or completely ignore the existence of that panel lol 😁 Its such a shame that it's not even a matter of fudging proportions here. Kawamori literally gave up and never gave the mechanism or transformation logic any thought for this one spot, for whatever reason. The best I can think of to solve this is for there to be a track pegged into the delimiter socket, hidden under the triangle, and under the problematic panel, all the way to the shoulder. The shoulder would still need to borrow a 180 twist from the DX to face the inward. Then triangle would have to be jointed to the panel (as seen in line art) and take it along to fold somewhere, probably making things tight for the ventral thrusters in gerwalk. The end result is a shoulder ball that slides forward on a newly invented track, rather than directly plugged in the socket, which probably looks awful without overengineering to hide it all. The most heinous I can come up with is to replace the track with a jointed snake, that coils up like a roll of bike chain, and then an absurdly large shoulder armor caps over it to hide it all lol. Anyway, thanks for the great visual aid for my brain worms. Quote

guyxxed Posted Friday at 05:27 PM Posted Friday at 05:27 PM Don't know if this is update worthy, but I feel bad when I don't keep posting things to keep this thread going. Hopefully others can jump in with things they're working on as well, but in the meanwhile I thought I'd share some of the rabbit holes I keep finding myself in lately. As an example, I have no interest in messing with the Macross characters, but in learning animation to make the planes move, and then also thinking it would be cool to have background characters so that the game settings I've been building don't feel abandoned, I've somehow now ended up tinkering with the Uta Macross idol models. Like the M30 models, these are very well detailed and a great example to learn from, both in how to model efficient topology and also in how to build an effective armature, which helps me with what I'm doing with the planes. The end result, though, is that I now have a folder full of weirdly posed models of the Macross singers that is somehow way more embarassing to be seen with than the folders full of imaginary planes I've been working on so far. 😉 I thought it might be funny if, somewhere in my game environment, you could come across Sheryl or Kaname on a random park bench, and when you approached a bunch of bodyguards would come out of nowhere and throw you off the nearest balcony. So now I'm learning event triggers and other fun things in Unity. 😄 I've also come back to my beloved VF-25s and made a VF-1D colored trainer version (one of my favorite schemes) and started messing with Super and Armor packs to work out ways to easily equip the planes in-game. Didn't realize there was a custom version of the packs for the YF-25 (my favorite plane), so that was another nice discovery in the files. Also putting these models in scenes together highlights once again the crazy scale of Macross. A valkyrie is super cool, but it's also ridiculously big, the shot of Sheryl sitting on the foot shows it better than anything. Oh well, maybe one of these days, I'll actually have a working environment where stuff will happen, but in the meanwhile, here are a couple of screenshots to pass the time. Quote
PointBlankSniper Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago While reading, I jumped the gun and thought you discovered the paladin pack for the Prophecy. Turns out you meant color coded super and amored packs lol. Aside from the lance, I think it was mostly just made of the two former packs mixed and matched. Good job with Sheryl, I'm sure she couldn't have been made in that pose without you having first gone through the unspeakable horrors in that folder lol. Quote
guyxxed Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago No paladin pack, sorry, just this oeange color version and another that matches Klan's purple valk. Interesting that both go heavier on the color than the "standard" packs (they all have white caps with colored edges, whereas both of these have colored caps with white edges), but no other hidden toys that I've found so far. And, yeah, that experimental human pose folder....it has been deleted. 😁 Once I get to putting people in the scenes I'll start over fresh with what I've learned and hopefully not duplicate any of the triple jointed, broken armed things my first tries got me.
