erikos0311 Posted November 24, 2012 Posted November 24, 2012 Hi all, I have been new for a long long time and I always end up going to the Vault to look at Master Cheng's famous Elint and VF-1A builds because i have been working on my first Hasegawa VF-1S for months now. I will post pictures soon and was just wondering if these kits are a norm of the past or if there are fans out there still building them and if you are, then it would be cool to see them along as i start to share mine.. thanks and hope to see some soon! A few of the Hasegawa VF-1's I've built in the past year or so. Currently working on the VE-1 now. Quote
sketchley Posted November 24, 2012 Posted November 24, 2012 I have an in-process VF-1 which has been gathering dust in the closet for the past 5 years... it's sad, because I've built a bunch of Gundam kits over the preceding year and just don't really make the time for the gluing and (especially) painting required. I've promised myself to get back to it after I finish the Yamato UN Fleet set that I picked up a few months ago (doesn't "need" painting, but it's a glue kit). Quote
PetarB Posted November 25, 2012 Posted November 25, 2012 I have THREE concurrently in progress. I am building all three together, although they are all different, but share the common VF-1 base. Hope to share them in early 2013! Quote
derex3592 Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 I have a 19 and a 21 I need to start on..... Quote
mickyg Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 I've been working on a VF-1D for a few years now. It's even on these boards somewhere. I think my "problem" if you can call it that, is how detailed the kits are and much harder I tend to want them to be "right" so I spend far more time on all the little things. Stil, great kits and lots of fun to work on. Quote
erikos0311 Posted November 26, 2012 Author Posted November 26, 2012 (edited) So after figuring out how to attach images, I could not decide which pictures to upload, so I uploaded the ones that I thought you could see the most detailed work. The Photoetched parts didnt come it so i made my own out of Styrene. It's my first kit ever and i know there are plenty of things I royally skrewed up but Im up for any kind of criticism! I should be done with most of the Decals but some of the black decals on the folded tail fins need to be painted on. Edited November 26, 2012 by erikos0311 Quote
erikos0311 Posted November 26, 2012 Author Posted November 26, 2012 Here is my small collection i've put together over the past 10 months or so. I got myself another VF-1S Strike valkyrie since the one above this post has been a teaching experience and kind of my test/guinei pig. Im really looking forward to the Elintseeker! I've got to say that before this 1st VF-1s i knew nothing about modeling and most if not all that ive applied to my model have come from MW Cheng's file's and some fans work on this forum. Just a shout out since I've been shy about posting. Quote
Jefuemon Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 It's my first kit ever and i know there are plenty of things I royally skrewed up but I'm up for any kind of criticism! Looks a hell of a lot better than my first kit... Good job on the seam lines on the super packs. That part always gives me a little trouble. For my personal preference, I don't like the big, blotchy shading on the strike cannons, but that's just me. All around, a very good first effort. Quote

Thanks Jefuemon, This kit has been done, glued, painted and stripped multiple times. Just not happy with the result...until now. And yeah, about the weathering, I decided to go for the "over the top weathering" to catch the "wear and tear" of Roy's Valkyrie near the end of this journey. And for me, I always have visioned that every Valkyrie after every single battle would have been completely covered with gunk, grease, space dirt, smoke and what not. The way i see it is , "there is never enough weathering" lol I appreciate it! and keep them coming! Quote
Kelsain Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 I was all ready to start panel lining & decaling my 1A, but then I moved. Everything is in boxes in the basement. Hopefully we'll be unpacked by 2013... Quote
cool8or Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 Actually I'm doing a Elintseeker and a YF-21... Quote

Hope to share them in early 2013! looking forward to see them started, and i really dig the Milia vf-4 racer! is that the resin model kit that Valk009 is selling? I have been looking at maybe getting a kit to put at the end of my list so by the time i get to it, i'll have my best skills!. Im thinking about doing a scheme of Max, similar to yours! very nice, nice clean work! Edited November 27, 2012 by erikos0311 Quote
PetarB Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 It's my first kit ever and i know there are plenty of things I royally skrewed up but Im up for any kind of criticism! No need for modesty. If this is your first kit, I can't wait to see what you do when you hit your stride. This result looks wondeful already. And yes, that VF-4 racer was based on the Valk009 kit. I must warn you though, it has some substantial modifications... Quote
valkyriepm Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 I'm on the VE-1 also... and when I was on the cockpit I paited and built all the cockpits of the VF-1 I have on the stack (Super/strike, 1D, 1A Minmay Guard 2009) Martin Quote
Jefuemon Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 Actually I'm doing a Elintseeker and a YF-21... I'm on the VE-1 also... My current build is the VE-1, too. AHHHHH!! Race to the finish!!!!!!!!! Quote

I really appreciate your true honesty PetarB, I have been working on this model for 6 months now ever since i went thru ACL reconstruction on my right knee back in May, and spent most of my time sitting in front of my desk with my leg up, woodshedding and learning how hasegawa Valkyries are built. lol, I guess i had to post my progress sooner or later..., Quote
Moosey Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012 Haven't built a model in years, but I have a YF-19 1/72 which I need to get on with. BTW - hello, cool forum. Quote

erikos0311 Posted December 11, 2012 Author Posted December 11, 2012 (edited) Finally I get to Post a Finished VF-1S!!! I have been working on my 1st kit for over 6 months,....and now I can show some results! Hope you guys enjoy this as much as i did, Comments and critics welcomed!! Jefuemon Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 Looks nice! You should start up your own thread over here, though, for completed kits. Might get more people to see it that way, too. Quote
CoreyD Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 I don't suppose any of you have a an unused decal sheet from the Hasegawa VF1 Black Aces model that you could possibly scan for me? Quote
ivorysniper Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 (edited) Well, I've been postponing my start to aircraft model building due to ongoing plans of moving to a more spacious apartment or house. So far I've stockpiled some 1/72 Hazegawas (YF-19 Alpha One, YF-21 Omega One, VF-19A Lightnings, VF-11B T-Bolt, VF-11B Super T-Bolt, VT-1 Super-O, VE-1 Elintseeker) and a 1/100 Bandai's YF-29. I started a 1/100 Bandai's VF-25F Alto Custom about 6 months ago, but I abandoned it due to so many mistakes, no planning at all and a huge frustration about dry decals. I'll restart the serious model building on a near future. Maybe I'll crank the engines up with some cheap models before the valkyries. I don't want to mess any of them. valkyriepm Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 For those building the VE-1, at least for me, the decals are a nightmare. Some of them destroyed on my fingers or on the application on model itself. WMCheng mention something about it on his step-by-step also. So for the builder of this bird, patience and good luck. ulvdemon Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 For me, I am working up the nerve to tackle mine. I have plans to show the one I have and to aqcuire several more as if they are in-flight, displaying low viz markings. Quote
coronadlux Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 A few of the Hasegawa VF-1's I've built in the past year or so. Currently working on the VE-1 now. That paint scheme on the red one is wicked. I like it. I have a few models, still in their box, that one day will get built. Quote

Fatalist Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 I went through some boxes and ran across a handful of my old Hasegawa's. A couple Super/Strike kits, an Elintseeker, a few regular 1J/A/S kits, a YF-19 and about 3 weapons packs. I plan on building some after I move again. I also need to go buy new glue and paints and decide how I'm going to paint them. Quote
cool8or Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Hey Jefuemon, I tottaly forgot our race for the Elintsseker building... Did you finish it? Mine is ready, I just need to take some pictures. Quote
