KiriK Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 (edited) After 4 years of sitting unbuilt and held up by yellow tape, i finally commissioned >EXO< to build and paint up my 1/48 Thunder Hammer. I wanted to recreate the "Humdinger" SD Stealth version of the TH from MW Con 2008 Tshirt, so this is an homage to that. Again, excellent paint job and customization work by EXO. Not only did he paint it, but added some cool new mods to make it a lot more sturdier and stronger than the original version. My favorite is a magnet for one of the leg hatches to help it stay put! Anyways, here are the pics!! Original "Humdinger" artwork T-shirt: Original Photo Hahaha... so EXO told me how to adjust the photos using PhotoShop or Paint.net. So here's the NEW adjusted photos that look much better: Open Hatches Close Up Backside Enjoy!!! Edited November 13, 2012 by KiriK Quote
bigkid24 Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 I've seen it in person and the pics don't do it justice. Quote
Valkyrie Magnus Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 Damn that's awesome! More good stuff keep it coming. I need toys like this. Quote
BoBe-Patt Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 Friggin sweet. Even the gunpod has been modded! Can't get enough of looking at this in person! Quote
KiriK Posted November 13, 2012 Author Posted November 13, 2012 oh, clarification: the gunpod is Maiden Japan's custom 1/48 gunpod Quote
MechTech Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 I've just added this to my list of stuff I wouldn't want to encounter down a dark alley! AWAESOME build EXO! Thanks for sharing! - MT Quote
KiriK Posted November 13, 2012 Author Posted November 13, 2012 Just edited the photos to look MUCH better... hopefully that does it a little more justice than my original photos. Quote

Reïvaj Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 Great stuff! Thanks for sharing KiriK! Great job >EXO<! Quote
Loop Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 Another awesome piece >EXO< , always wished I would have been able to secure one of the Thunder hammer kits. Lucky guy you are Kirik I also love the Maiden Japan prototype gun pod, I have a couple of those my self. Quote
xrentonx Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 That's awesome! Not a fan of the fat fingaz but everything else is ace! Macross needs more color schemes like this. Quote
mass driver Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 Wow, that is beautiful. Good work EXO, you're are true artist. Quote
Mog Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 Very purrty work on this one. Like all the little custom touches here and there too. Looking at the back left shot, it looks like the Stealth stole the Thunder Hammer armor for Hikaru's VF-1J, especially with the red-stripe-on-white scheme. Quote
homura Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 wow, it's cool!! you should paint a stealth ver Quote
nautilus Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 The gob... She is smacked. Fabulous job. I'm in awe. Quote
EXO Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 Thanks again everyone. I was looking for the pictures of what I did to strengthen the Thunderhammer for other people with the kit but I couldn't find it. I have another one one to make so I'll retake them and post those pictures. Gotta give props to Master Rohby as xstoys calls him. It's hard to believe how well these parts fit and how perfectly symmetrical they are given that they all done by hand. Each part of this kit started off either as a sheet or a rod of styrene. And the recasts are almost flawless. So flawless that people can go for 4 or more years that they can display them with noting but a few pieces of tape holding them together and still look good enough to display. BTW, this is the picture I sent to Kirik to show him the gold visor. You call that gold? So I had to change it to this haha. He had to pay for the metallic paint though. But it does look good. Better than that OTHER gold visor. lol. Quote

EXO Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 Shh! You'll give this guy an even more already embiggened head... Nice! Needs more gold visor Quote
master of macross Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 goooood work, you have build a perfect model Quote
MacrossJunkie Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 That's some great work there. One question though. Why does the chest armor sit so low on the chest? That area looks a bit strange to me like that. Quote
aceoftherebellion Posted November 16, 2012 Posted November 16, 2012 It's just how that armor pack looks. The original Model Grafix image was the same way and every kit I've ever seen of the set has been the same, I'm pretty sure it's supposed to look that way. Fantastic build! I love how clean it looks, you do an amazing job, Exo! Quote
