Chronocidal Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 Yeah, bottom line on this one is that the parts are an afterthought. The design wasn't meant to hold them, so we're back to the days of the original production runs of the VF-25 not being able to mount super parts. I seriously doubt anyone would be able to mount these parts on their original issue VF-27. Hopefully they've learned by now not to mount things that strain the entire structure of the plane, but however you slice it, this is going to be a chop job. The semi-good news though is that there was enough demand for movie merchandise to convince them to do this at all. Since they're releasing this one as a bundle, wouldn't it make sense to also release a new YF-29 super pack bundle as a counterpart? And, there I go again.. imagining Bandai's marketing department ever does anything that makes sense. Quote
David Hingtgen Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 All I need is those parts in green. Quote
Sandman Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 All I need is those parts in green. me too Quote
xrentonx Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 (edited) All I need is for them not to do this and get on to the V2 already (preferably canon fodder). Easily the weakest announcement out of the three we got today. Watchu playin at, Bandai? Edited October 25, 2012 by xrentonx Quote
Lolicon Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 Gonna be ****ing disappointed in Bandai if, after all the renewals, they get lazy and just reissue the crappy old 27. I might pick one up if that's the only 27 that we're gonna get for years, until some point in the future when Yamato finally gets the Frontier license. It's saying in fighter mode for sure. Quote
jenius Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 (edited) The 27 was very good in fighter mode. I think, like others have speculated, this might be similar to what happened with the VF-25G and Tornado Parts. The only difference here though is Bandai was using that release as another way to get mileage out of the existing Tornado Parts and on this release they're having to come up with a whole new super parts mold and possibly some mods to the existing mold to make it Super Parts compliant. I guess I could see it going either way... maybe the renewal VF-27 will have to wait until Bandai's 35th Anniversary V3 VF-25? I would love for Bandai to do a renewal now that we know the whole renewal of VF-25 toys are coming out and we're getting another 171. Edited October 26, 2012 by jenius Quote
David Hingtgen Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 Hmnn. Wonder if they'll just include replacement shoulders? Everything else should have a usable tab/hinge/slot to use on the existing one (except maybe the shield/tail). I mean, all the other Frontier armor packs use at least some "replacement" parts in areas. Quote
MacrossJunkie Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 That's quite possible. It could be something as simple as identical shoulders as the ones that come with the toy with the exception of a hole in the top to peg the armor attachment into, like the armor parts for the hip guns on the super and armor packs. Quote
Omegablue Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 So wierd... All the other toy sites have it listed as a renewal. Can anyone confirm the Japanese tag? Just hopeful that they put the old one just for show while a new mold is being made. Also, any word on the green version? Quote
Chronocidal Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 They're probably just confusing it with the VF-25s, since all those are renewals. Plus.. releasing a renewal that includes super packs? This is Bandai we're talking about. They'd never do something that makes that much sense. Seriously though, it doesn't make much sense for them to make a renewal with the super packs already added, unless they figured the packs are so minor they couldn't market them separately. Besides, if this was a renewal version, I'd think there'd be a lot more buzz about it, and a lot more pictures taken. Quote
Omegablue Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 Very true, wise words there bud! And thanks. Quote
IXTL Posted November 9, 2012 Author Posted November 9, 2012 Some pics not seen earlier. Also from Tamashii Nations 2012. Quote
Reïvaj Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 So it's only the SP and not a new release + SP? Quote
David Hingtgen Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 You know, I wouldn't be surprised if they're battroid-mode only. First time I saw them animated, I thought "there's no way they can actually fit in fighter mode"---even on the CG model. Quote
UN Spacy Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 So those Fast Packs....pulled out of their arse...right? I don't remember seeing those in the tv series or movies. Quote
Mommar Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 To be honest I don't ever remember seeing them but other people have said they have. Quote
MacrossJunkie Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 (edited) Brera had them in the second movie. Edit: yeah, what Veef showed Edited November 9, 2012 by MacrossJunkie Quote
Mommar Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 I wonder how those leg parts are supposed to attach. Quote
charger69 Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 I like my VFs decorated I will most likely get this super parts set Quote
Lolicon Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 The VF-27 was designed and released long before movie 2 came along, so I'm thinking it wasn't designed with fast packs in mind like the renewals. I just hope it isn't some patchwork POS like the original super and armor sets for the VF-25. Quote
mechaninac Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 No renewal...no sale, Bandai! This! Bandai, are you paying attention? Quote
jenius Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 I'm gonna buy this and then sell my green grace version. Quote
grymg Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 Hello stresscracking! Looks great but no way I would install this pack on a VF-27. Quote
MacrossJunkie Posted November 12, 2012 Posted November 12, 2012 I'm guessing these super parts may not sell too well as many people are likely expecting a repeat of history where a renewal version is announced after the last set of accessories they can milk have been sold. Hopefully that doesn't indicate to them that there's no longer an interest in the VF-27 if that happens. The only way I'd be tempted to get these super parts is if it came with an AIF-9V Ghost. Quote
jenius Posted November 12, 2012 Posted November 12, 2012 Do we know if its a gift-set with a Brera VF-27 and Super Parts or are they just selling the Super Parts separately? Quote
MacrossJunkie Posted November 12, 2012 Posted November 12, 2012 That's a good question. If it's going through retail channels, it might actually be the valk+super parts. If it's a web exclusive, I'm guessing it may just be the super parts alone. Quote
Dimis Posted November 12, 2012 Posted November 12, 2012 Do we know if its a gift-set with a Brera VF-27 and Super Parts or are they just selling the Super Parts separately? Since the description says set, doesn't it mean they will go together? Quote
MacrossJunkie Posted November 12, 2012 Posted November 12, 2012 Or it could be thought of as a set of super parts. If only they had a price listed. It would be easier to tell. Quote
ArchieNov Posted November 12, 2012 Posted November 12, 2012 I was originally not planning to get this since I'd rather hope and wait for a renewal version. But if these parts are sold separately AND come with replacement shoulder pauldrons, then I will buy them. This is because the paint on the shoulders of one of my VF-27s has already chipped and I want to fix that. Quote
aceoftherebellion Posted November 12, 2012 Posted November 12, 2012 I might actually go for this one, since I missed the earlier release and nothing's been announced on a renewal yet. It might be easier to find since it sounds like demand won't be as high, maybe. LMFAO Watch Bandai still put out like five of them total... Quote
David Hingtgen Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 I only have Grace's version, and since they were never seen on-screen at all on a green one (the green ones were only in the movies for about 0.5 secs in the background) I wonder if even Bandai would do a recolor for a non-canon version.
