SDF: Macross Hikaru Flight Suit

Hello, this is my first time posting. I didn't know there was a Macross forum (just a bunch of...Robotech...forums), but I'm glad there is! I was starting to think Macross was all but forgotten.

I'm currently making a cosplay of Flight Suit Hikaru (T.V.) and I've hit a wall. Does anyone know if there is supposed to be horizontal striping on the blue ribbon (on the sleeves)? I know there is striping (almost like ribbing) on the sides, but I can't tell if there is supposed to be striping on the ribbon on the sleeves.

I've seen that flight suit. It's amazing. But it's not the flight suit from the T.V. series (in fact, it's not from any series), so it wouldn't have the details I need.

I could probably go either way and nobody would know/care, but I'd like to get the details right. Has anyone on here made an SDF:M flight suit?
