Graham Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 Saw it yesterday with my son. Thought it was OK, but not as good as the first Avengers movie. Much darker and kinda depressing in places. Don't think I'll watch it again at the cinema, but I'll probably end up buying the Blu-ray. Out of recent Marvel movies, I enjoyed Guardians of the Galaxy and Winter Soldier more. Graham Quote

barurutor Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 Avengers was the better movie IMHO but Age of Ultron still had the Joss Whedon comic touches and pretty awesome action. Saw it in Imax 3D here in Singapore this morning. Quote

Mog Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 (edited) I'm so glad I don't have to wait until midnight to watch opening night films anymore! It makes me happy that the nearby theater generally has earlier showings (7pm and onwards) the day before the "official" premiere date. Just got back from a 10:30pm showing. It's alright and enjoyable, but the film does suffer from a bit of "sequel-itis" (bigger set pieces, more action, etc., etc.). You definitely get those team money-shots, but I kinda wish they had held back on revealing too many things beforehand, either in the trailers or from all the news leaks. * I really didn't feel any tension when they were creating Vision, because we kinda already know he's a "good guy." * Iron-Man [wincing]: "Sorry?" * I didn't mind the Hawkeye bits: seeing he has a family on the side (kills any future Mockingbird/Bobbi Morse tie-ins though ), him straight up acknowledging his limitations, etc. They definitely gave him a ton of moments to shine. * Which had me speculating that they were gonna kill the bastard. * Didn't see Quicksilver's death happening though. Guess they saw how awesome the Days of Future Past version was and said "Screw it; we'll kill him off to build up Scarlett Witch's character." * Ultron is definitely Tony's sick, twisted, bastard love-child! * So, was this film set-up for Ragnarok and Civil War? * Speaking of Civil War, except for guys like Spider-Man and Daredevil, why would the Superhero Registration Act be such a big deal? Everyone already knows who Iron Man is, everyone knows Steve Rogers is Captain America, Thor doesn't really have a secret identity, Widow appeared before Congress and is a known spy/assassin, Hawkeye and Scarlett Witch don't exactly wear masks, and anyone with half a brain could probably figure out who War Machine is. Lastly, as confirmed in reports, there's only one mid-credit scene/stinger. I can confirm (from personal experience) that no additional scene was tacked on at the very end of the credits. myk Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 Yeah, been a fan of Spader since his Boston Legal days. Even though his wit and genius is written for him he carries it all very well... Quote

Heh, go further back to the 1980s and check out Less Than Zero where James Spader starred as Robert Downey Jr's drug dealer/pimp. Very interesting film knowing Downey's troubled past with drugs. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H8TsEr7CK9s Edited May 2, 2015 by TangledThorns Quote
