azrael Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 SEQUEL TO MARVELS THE AVENGERS TO HIT THEATERS MAY 1, 2015 The Walt Disney Studios has announced a release date for Marvel Studios sequel to the biggest Super Hero blockbuster and third highest grossing film of all time, Marvels The Avengers. Joss Whedon returns to write and direct the UNTITLED MARVELS AVENGERS SEQUEL set for release May 1, 2015. We'll that's awfully quick. Quote
Radd Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 What's that? I couldn't hear you under the crushing roar of box office money pouring into Marvel's bank account. Quote
mass driver Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 Woohoo! Joss Whedon is directing again! That just made my day. The franchise will continue to have a long happy life... Quote
ps99042 Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 Awesome! Now I just have to avoid buying any of the toys... Quote
azrael Posted August 19, 2012 Author Posted August 19, 2012 But they expect you to watch Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Ant-Man, and Guardians of the Galaxy in the the mean time. Gotta make time for those. Three years will mean nothing by the time we get to this movie. Quote
taksraven Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 Can we have a decent enemy/villain next time please? Quote
myk Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 Can we have a decent enemy/villain next time please? They could always borrow that fart cloud from the 2nd Fantastic Four movie? Quote
azrael Posted August 29, 2012 Author Posted August 29, 2012 This is probably tied into getting Joss Whedon to direct this upcoming flick. Marvel's ABC TV Series Greenlit, Titled S.H.I.E.L.D; Joss Whedon Co-Writing & May Direct Why do I also get a feeling that there will be some tie-in to this movie? I just don't want to have to watch a TV show to explain some obscure reference in the movie. Quote
EXO Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 Obscue references are fine. Like the Budapest reference by Natasha and Clint. Actually I love tie-ins as long as it doesn't involve major storylines. I mean the way they're doing movies today, where the first movie depends on a sequel to complete a thought, wether it gets made or not, is way more offensive than having a few small storylines go across different media. It's based on comic books after all. Let's face it, we're going to watch it anyway. Quote
azrael Posted August 30, 2012 Author Posted August 30, 2012 So it appears Whedon did sign a 3-year exclusive deal with Marvel Studios when he signed on for this movie. Joss Whedon Dishes On THE AVENGERS Sequel, S.H.I.E.L.D. TV Pilot And His Marvel Deal Quote
Funkenstein Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 Guardians of The Galaxy will most likely have Thanos in it since they decided to include Drax The Destroyer. So I think GoTG will lead up to Avengers 2 entering the Marvel Cosmic universe. Quote
azrael Posted May 7, 2013 Author Posted May 7, 2013 And now the nitty-gritty talk can happen now that Iron Man 3 is in theaters and had an impressive opening weekend. Robert Downey Jr And ‘Avengers’ Cast Ready To Rumble With Stingy Marvel Over Sequel Money And Strong-Arming Quote
Dobber Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 2015 could be a very big summer for Disney with The Avengers 2 and Star Wars Episode VII set to premier then too. Chris Quote
Uxi Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 As of right now, only planning to see Thor 2 in the movies. I'm totally gonna skip Guardians and Ant Man. I could maybe see streaming them. I'll probably wait for Winter Soldier on Blu-ray. Quote
Mommar Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 I never saw the first Thor or Cap. Didn't really feel like I needed to before The Avengers. Not sure if that feeling will change before Avengers 2 with Thor and Cap 2. Quote
azrael Posted May 9, 2013 Author Posted May 9, 2013 Whedon says: "I'm not making $100M on Avengers 2" Quote
Mommar Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Man, you really follow all of this news quick don't you? Quote
myk Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 Maybe my math is wrong, but I'm pretty sure RDJ made about $80 'mil off of Avenger's and I3. Not too much of a stretch for Whedon to be making around $200 'mil, IMO... Quote
terry the lone wolf Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 Quicksilver & Scarlet Witch are rumored to be in Avengers 2 so maybe a little connection with X-Men?.. Quote
Mommar Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 Quicksilver & Scarlet Witch are rumored to be in Avengers 2 so maybe a little connection with X-Men?.. Legally, no. But with West Coast Avengers far more so. Quote
azrael Posted July 21, 2013 Author Posted July 21, 2013 And now we have a title: Avengers: Age of Ultron. And they revealed the design of our villain. Quote
Duke Togo Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 So it appears Whedon did sign a 3-year exclusive deal with Marvel Studios when he signed on for this movie. Gakken85 Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 Man. Whedon is going to die a very, very rich man. Not bad for a guy who gets his movies over with snappy patter. Quote
Twoducks Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 Wait, no Thanos? Will they play it like Whedon wanted and do a less epic second movie and bring the big guns for the third? Quote
Duke Togo Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 Wait, no Thanos? Will they play it like Whedon wanted and do a less epic second movie and bring the big guns for the third? See: Guardians of the Galaxy Quote
Twoducks Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 Yeah, I was expecting GotG to be the set up for the cosmic Marvel universe and for the big Thanos threat. Anyways, I like this better. More time to set up the movie universe without a rushed feeling and have it be bigger. That Ant Man movie is still in limbo? That is the idiot who created Ultron. Quote
Gakken85 Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 Thanos will help bridge GOTG to Avengers and show up in Avengers 3 I guess. Quote
Raptor One Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 Glad to hear we'll get more Hawkeye. He was one of my favourite parts of the first film. Him, Banner and Steve. Quote
miles316 Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 Glad to hear we'll get more Hawkeye. He was one of my favourite parts of the first film. Him, Banner and Steve. Are they keeping Jeremy Renor (sp?) as Hawkeye? Quote
Gakken85 Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 http://www.flicksandbits.com/2013/08/02/joss-whedon-talks-the-avengers-age-of-ultron-confirms-its-an-original-story-speaks-on-thanos/53748/ Whether we’ll see Ultron’s creator, Henry Pym, or the android that Ultron himself created, the Vision, Joss Whedon reassures, “We’re not going to see Pym and all the accoutrements. Ultron is more central to the Avengers as they are. But we will explore the idea of lineage, because he was created by us and we’ve got to own that… Then we have the Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver and I think that’s plenty, because Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch did not begin their time as friends of the Avengers, so there’s going to be a lot of, well, conflict.” Asked about the possibility of a ‘multi-studio crossover’ film, Joss Whedon says, “That’s not the plan. It would be cool but I think right now I already have a ton of very talented actors in my movie playing a ton of characters, and I’m about to add a few more. So I’m not like, ‘How can we get more licensed characters because I want to kill myself and make a nine-hour movie.’” While it’s no secret that the Avengers and X-Men won’t share the big screen any time soon, it was believed that Thanos would provoke Earth’s mightiest heroes to assemble with the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy.’ This obviously isn’t happening in ‘The Avengers: Age of Ultron,’ as the writer/director says, “We have to stay grounded. It’s part of what makes the Marvel universe click – their relationship to the real world. It’s science-fiction, and Thanos is not out of the mix, but Thanos was never meant to be the next villain. He’s always been the overlord of villainy & darkness.” Quote
