Gubaba Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 Fukuyama is just so win. I'm totally envious of his jacket. Did I mention how nice it was? It was REALLY, REALLY nice. Quote
BadTroll Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 That has to be so nice, just bumping in to him randomly like that. So awesome. Quote
Gubaba Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 That has to be so nice, just bumping in to him randomly like that. So awesome. Honestly? Not QUITE as cool as having Chie Kajiura sit and talk to Tochiro and I for a while, but a damn sight better than Aya Endo looking me in the eye and deciding that I wasn't worthy of the signed poster. Quote
Gubaba Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 (edited) Chie is awesome too. Love her. So were you as freaked out by her website as everyone else seems to be...? http://www.chie-kajiura.com/ Edited October 26, 2012 by Gubaba Quote
VF5SS Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 I noticed she added a meowing cat that wasn't there before. Quote
BadTroll Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 (edited) Site looks awesome to me. Does this mean something in regards to my psyche? I feel like I'm walking around DarkSouls listening to the BGM. Edited October 26, 2012 by BadTroll Quote
aceoftherebellion Posted October 27, 2012 Posted October 27, 2012 A little disappointed that the movie didn't hit higher than expectations, but since expectations were low from the start it's not the end of the world. Instead I'll just be burning with jealousy about how awesome that day sounds. Quote
Renato Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 Front-paged my thoughts on the movie, plus the other reviews by Tochiro and Gubaba, too. Quote
Keith Posted November 4, 2012 Posted November 4, 2012 Did anyone else pick up the new FB7 single and the first 7 BD box? Both are just as awesome as expected, the BD's are another solid H presentation. I can't wait until BV puts plus on bluray, and hell, I'd love to see a remaster of II as well. Quote

So how is the new stuff, like the booklets and illustration collections? What about the commentaries, how many/which episodes have them, etc? Quote
Keith Posted November 4, 2012 Posted November 4, 2012 So how is the new stuff, like the booklets and illustration collections? What about the commentaries, how many/which episodes have them, etc? The booklets are grear, including one just for sheet music. It's in real notation, not Basare scribble. I haven't checked out the commentaries to much, but everyone seemed to be having a good time on the bits of the first ep commentary I checked out. Quote
VF-15 Banshee Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 (edited) Man, Sheryl and Ranka can really belt out the classics. Edited November 7, 2012 by VF-15 Banshee Quote
Freiflug88 Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 (edited) So this is essentially the Love, Live, Alive OVA of the Macross universe? And without out the macross verison of Yellow Lancer of all characters? LOL Edited November 10, 2012 by Freiflug88 Quote
Gubaba Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 So this is essentially the Love, Live, Alive OVA of the Macross universe? Love Live Alive had more new songs. Quote
nexxstrait Posted November 11, 2012 Author Posted November 11, 2012 Man, Sheryl and Ranka can really belt out the classics. Err... you wanted to say ruin the classics, right? Quote
MichaelS Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 (edited) Was this the only Movies/TV thing for the 30th anniversary event or is there more? Not talking about toys, models, or stage shows. Ok reread scoopuda and it appears so ug. Edited November 11, 2012 by MichaelS Quote
VF-15 Banshee Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 So that's 1 vote for like and 1 for not like, any other takers? Quote
Keith Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 That's an awesome medley, how an anyone hate? Quote
Renato Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 This is another one of those videos which is blocked in Japan. Quote
Gubaba Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 So that's 1 vote for like and 1 for not like, any other takers? Like Renato, I can't see the video, so I'll just assume it's the medley from the single. And yeah, I like it. As Save pointed out to us, the scene was very "Let It Be" rooftop concert. It was good. Quote
EXO Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 Nice! Soundtrack right? There's no bluray yet is there? Quote
VF-15 Banshee Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 Yeah, it's the soundtrack. I have no clue when the thing is out on BD. Quote
Tochiro Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 Blu has yet to be announced. If nothing else it will probably have a recording of the cast talk session held after one of the screenings (Amino, Aya, Megumi, Fukuyama) since there was an official camerawoman present. Quote
VF-15 Banshee Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 The new Fire Bomber song was pretty good, if a bit on the short side. Quote
Renato Posted November 16, 2012 Posted November 16, 2012 The single dropped 21 places to #27 on the charts this week. (Skip to the 1min mark) Wow, look at those sales figures. Hmm. Quote
Renato Posted November 16, 2012 Posted November 16, 2012 I just did a bit of extra quick research and those are actually last week's figures. Therefore it sold over ten thousand upon release and then in the second week just over 4,000 copies. Funny thing is that it still managed to beat Shibasaki Kou that week even though Shibasaki is very mainstream, gets lots more attention than Macross and her single was a new entry that week. Quote
Tochiro Posted November 16, 2012 Posted November 16, 2012 It's ok, although still niche. theres also the fact that these figures dont take the rental market into account, nor digital distribution, etc. Quote
Xard Posted November 16, 2012 Posted November 16, 2012 So, "important": Do Ranka and Sheryl ever end up wearing those costumes on key art? Those were pretty smexy Quote
BadTroll Posted December 13, 2012 Posted December 13, 2012 I liked the disk as a whole. Though I am hoping for another anniversary soundtrack or something like Re:Fire again. I still listen to it a lot. Err... you wanted to say ruin the classics, right? I agree and disagree. After all is said and done, I did like the medley. I still love seeing the old FB stuff making it's way in to songs so many years later. Nevertheless I do believe it would have been better if it was a Fukuyama/Kajiura rendition. Their vocals always hit the right spot for me. The sequences in the medley come off as weaker and contain a lot less energy than the original pieces because May'n/Megumi don't pair up anything like Yoshiki/Chie and sound entirely different. You inevitably get different feelings when listening. Quote

Actually there IS a version where all the synth is replaced by electric guitars and the song is done by Megumi, Fukuyama and Chie only (no May'n). The bad news is that it's only ever been done live. The good news is that it was recorded for a possible DVD release. Quote
BadTroll Posted December 13, 2012 Posted December 13, 2012 That sounds like it could be awesome depending on whose singing which parts. Hopefully it will surface somewhere. Good tip. Quote
