Articulation of the head is practically non-existent unless you only put the head on half-way, which causes a weird bit of gap. Shoulder articulation is practically non-existent and it almost totally just rotation up/down. Wrist articulation is purely rotational with no ball joint at all. And the rotation point is out at an angle so rotating too far in either direction looks weird and awkward. Leg articulation is weird. the bottom half of Mario rotates forward/back so the legs can raise up and down but there's hardly any play left and right. To do something like a Smash Bros. kick you have to rotate the leg completely backwards and do a funny bend with the knee. Ankle articulation is bad.

Really, it's designed as Mario from the first SMB game and his movement is as limited on the toy as it would be in the game. It's not like the other Nintendo properties where they're far more dynamic all around. People want to build Smash Bros. displays and this Mario figure doesn't work for that. Though in general it's too limited to really be fun to pose on it's own outside of that niche.

That's the summary anyway, but if you'd like to hear the long-winded complaint:

Looks like I gotta get me Luigi now, can't wait, I need the superior brother. I wonder if we'll see a Yoshi release? The only thing I'm wondering is how they'd get Mario/Luigi to ride him? I personally have no gripes with Mario, he was $20 so I'm not entirely sure what people expected, but I could definitely see how what we got could hinder his ability to interact with a Yoshi figure.

Got Big G (birth/rebirth/jr?) delivered today.

No time for fancy piccies/poses, yet. Too tired...

I gotta get this guy, he looks good. I've got Showa Gozilla and Millennium Godzilla, I need the Heisei one you've got there, and of course Godzilla 2014, I need a version of every era of Godzilla in my collection!

Pre-ordered at BBTS for my 7 year old - we will find out just how tough they are . . .

attachicon.gifMA_Godzilla.jpg

hmm they are not fragile but a 7 year old...coudl probably tear one apart at the joints (there are some ball joints etc). also it seems to vary. i have an original release sh monstarts godzilla... i believe it is the hesei 90s version and that one is heavy and built like a tank. i also have the showa mosugoji 1964 version monsterarts. That one is noitceable smaller, lighter, and less sturdy feeling...which is a shame since i like tha tone better (its the godzilla i grew up watching). the on you have pictured appears to be oen of the hesei ones? either the 1994 version, the 1995 version or the 1995 birth version (godzilla junior grown up but is essentially a remolded "burning" godzilla release)

I fully remember that nothing was safe from me when I was 7yo... :bump:

At any rate, his son most likely will tear the limbs apart on that Godzilla, and it'll be ok since he can just pop it back in with nary a damage.

Unless, of course, he uses some sharp objects to do some creative dissections... :touche:
