DestroidsRage Posted December 6, 2003 Posted December 6, 2003 The VA-3 C and M models incorporate fixed weapons consisting of two fixed beam guns mounted in pontoons in Attacker mode and in lower arm sections in GERWALK and Battroid mode. And two fixed micro-missile launchers mounted outboard in pontoons in Attacker mode and in lower arm sections in GERWALK and Battroid mode. The arm mounted guns are easily apparent in this picture. http://www.mahq.net/mecha/macross/vf-x2/va...-3m-gerwalk.jpg However.. If the earlier models didnt have any armament, what was that little hole inbetween the fingers? It really seems like some sort of gun! http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/uploads/po...-1070709344.gif http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/uploads/po...-1070709439.gif I had always thought it was a gun, so I was kind of stumped when I read that the earlier models had no fixed armament! That hole at the tip of the pontoons in fighter mode, and in between the claws in battroid mode, is very decieving. Also, the VA-3's lower arms bear a big resemblance to the Ground Pattroids arms. Including that little hole between the claws. http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/uploads/po...-1070702921.jpg http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/uploads/po...-1070702978.jpg Which leads me to believe that the Ground Pattroid is made by Northrom Grumman, but thats extreme speculation on my part. And thats not even why I started this post. Im just wondering what those openings on the VA-3 are. Lights? Sensor ports? No idea. Sorry for posting such an obscure thread, LOL ^__^ But it got me wondering -BEN-MAN- Quote
hellohikaru Posted December 6, 2003 Posted December 6, 2003 Maybe a vernier ? Or a grenade crusher launcher ... or just a duct for cooling Speculation of course. Quote
KingNor Posted December 6, 2003 Posted December 6, 2003 whew, lordy that thing is ugly, what serise is it from?? Quote
Anubis Posted December 6, 2003 Posted December 6, 2003 VA-3 was in M7: Dynamite, too wasn't it? Quote
DestroidsRage Posted December 6, 2003 Author Posted December 6, 2003 There were VA-3C Customs in Dynamite 7, and the VA-3M was in VFX-2. However, I think those two times were the only times any Invader was ever in a game or animation. The earlier models have never been in anything I dont think. KingNor, which thing is ugly? The VA-3, or the Patroid? -BEN-MAN- Quote
Noyhauser Posted December 7, 2003 Posted December 7, 2003 I think its lights... especially when you think that the VA-3 is desgined to fight underwater. It would make the most sense too. they are fixed forward in Fighter mode, and are moveable in batroid and gerwalk... I think the VA-3 is a cool design... maybe the most unorthdox besided the YF-21. I think (I might be wrong though) its the only one with a pilot in head configuration. Quote
DestroidsRage Posted December 7, 2003 Author Posted December 7, 2003 Could be. But only the VA-3M was deigned for amphibious use. The earlier models, that Im talking about, werent designed for amphibious duty, so I doubt they'd be lights. They might be though.. It would make sense for the Patroid. -BEN-MAN- Quote
dna Posted December 7, 2003 Posted December 7, 2003 In VF-X2, the holes are clearly cannons. I don't know about VF-X, and they used rifles in M7Dynomite. Quote
Lightning Posted December 7, 2003 Posted December 7, 2003 i always thought the whole hand was a engine type thing. Quote
Final Vegeta Posted December 7, 2003 Posted December 7, 2003 Im just wondering what those openings on the VA-3 are. Lights? Sensor ports? No idea. They are pulse lasers. FV Quote
