Loop Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 I just got my SQ Macross 30th Mylene x Ranka figure today, still waiting on my Sheryl x Basara to arrive. For how cheap the Mylene was it's not a bad quality figure at all. I feel it's a bit girly for my tastes, but I decided I would get the whole collection. At least my wife loves the Mylene one. Does anyone know when Ranka x Flower girl will be released or go up for pre-order? Quote
Renato Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 I'm not a static figure guy, but I might just get the Minmay/Sheryl one, now that I know how cheap the other ones go for. I thought these were supposed to be 8000 yen or so, judging by what I heard about previous figures. But a couple of months ago I saw the Sheryl/Basara one for just over 1500 yen, and was quite surprised. Still on the fence, though. Quote
Loop Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 (edited) Yeah I don't collect static figures either really. My wife kinda helped push me into these, and at the low cost I was not too concerned. She actually collect the PVC figures in the house. Edited February 8, 2013 by Loop Quote
Renato Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 Yeah, I have the small CMs PVC figures, but they kind of just sit there. Dunno what I'm gonna do with a larger one. If they were poseable then it would be a different story... Quote

Mylene was 1,480 yen and Sheryl was almost the same price. 1,400 yen or 1,480 yen last week. Quote

Mechapilot77 Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 Picture for those interested. Looks like pre-order is up at Big-in-Japan. Gonna wait for HLJ or NY to post up theirs though. I'm not really a figure collector but that's really cool! Anywhere where the preorder can still be had or should I just wait for release and hope ny carries it then? The two linked places are sold out. ( big in Japan and hlj. ) Quote

Not too fond of the Mylene one. Quote
antibiotictab Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 So are these super tiny, or just absolute junk quality? Taller than the Ranka figure and the others. Its quality is so so. I went to the swap meet in Akihabara today, and found Sheryl. In this picture, 900yen. But the cheapest one was 800 yen. Quote
ErikElvis Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 I think they look really good for the price. I cant complain about sheryl/basara Quote
Loop Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 Still waiting on my Sheryl/Basara, but for how cheap the Mylene was I can't complain about quality at all. As Erik said they look really good for the cost. Quote

antibiotictab Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 Heres a few pics of that Sheryl and some other Banpresto figures I took at Wonderfest today: Not Banpresto, they are Nendoroids, so made by Good Smile Company. I also need to point you that Yoshiki Fukuyama tapped that Sheryl on the ass.... Yeah, "sugoi ketsu." Quote

That's the moment in the Universal Bunny concert/vid where she kept switching between black and white bunny, good and innocent.... so we get the face. She's got half the clothes of each outfit. If you look close enough she is entangled by the wires, so I think a distressed face is justified. Quote
ErikElvis Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 That sheryl is awesome. Dont know how big or what but hopefully not more than $120. Quote
Major Focker Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 booty notwithstanding, the main attraction for me here is the unusual mounting of the figure to make it look like it's floating. reminds me of the Makise (Stein;s Gate) figure, which also featured gears btw. i'd love to collect these floating figures/sculptures, but they are few and far in between. hoping someone would make something similar to this: showing Hikaru's valk crashing through a foot bridge while trying to rescue a falling Minmay. one can dream, right? anime52k8 Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 I just like it because she has a nice ass. Quote
Tochiro Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 That sheryl is awesome. Dont know how big or what but hopefully not more than $120. There's no way it will be that cheap. During last nights talk show on Niconico, the Max Factory rep said the price hadn't been decided yet, but figures like 20,000yen and 30,000yen were being thrown around a bit. Given the engineering involved and the popularity of the character I'd say expect to pay top dollar for this one.... Quote

Unless it's absolutely massive or a cold cast (neither of which seem to be the case) there's no way something like that would cost that much. It's not niche enough, not complex enough and frankly not from a manufacture that's respectable enough to warrant that kind of price tag. realistically it'll be somewhere between 10k and 14k yen. Well we can hope. All I'm doing is repeating what the actual rep from Max Factory himself said, so until an official price is announced his comments are all we have to go on. (And the commenters on Niconico were saying that they thought it would be worth 20,000 - which doesn't bode well for a lower price point). But like I said, I'm just conveying the only word that has come from the horses mouth so to speak so please don't shoot the messenger. Quote
Phalanix Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 ... and frankly not from a manufacture that's respectable enough to warrant that kind of price tag. realistically it'll be somewhere between 10k and 14k yen. I have to disagree on the comment about Max Factory not being respectable (enough). They come out with lots of great figures and quality are top notch more often than not. I concur about the pricing, however, I don't think it would be 30,000 JPY. My 1/5 Mai Shiranui cold cast figure by Alpha Max didn't even cost that much. Even GSC's Love is War (DX version) Miku with the giant base was under 14k JPY. Quote
anime52k8 Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 I'm not saying they're a terrible manufacturer, but they're not really a top tier figure company either. They're not on the same level as Alter or Goodsmile and even they don't often get into those territories of expensive. 20,000~30,000 JPY is in the catagory Coldcast/polystone statues and extremely niche porno figures like what Native makes. This here is a pretty good analog to that Sheryl statue in terms of size, detail and complexity; and it's also from Max Factory: http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10203557 It's 14,000 yen before typical store discounts. also, the fact that it's a popular character typically means it'll be more affordable since it's less obscure and therefore more likely to sell more units. For folks that're familiar with Nendoroids...are there two different sizes of them? Will Sheryl and Ranka be the first Macross released characters that MF has released? I believe yes to both. Standard Nendoroids are about 4 inches tall hand have swappable faces and limbs for different poses and to use accessories. They also have a Nendoroid Petite line that's about 2.5 inches tall, are fixed pose statues that have similar proportions as the larger Nendoroids. And to my knowledge this is the first time max factory has produced any Macross related products. Quote
