azrael Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 Canon 7D Firmware Upgrade Due in August… Bigger RAW Buffer, GPS Adapter Compatibility and Manual Audio Levels(Photgraphy Bay) Canon EOS 7D Firmware v2 Official (Canon Rumors) For you 7D shooters (like me) this should be a welcomed update to extend the life of the 7D in spite of the rumors of a 7D successor still floating out there. the white drew carey Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 So... I'm thinking of moving up to a DSLR. I've been stuck in the point and shoot doldrums for years and years and want to get something a bit better out of my photos. Does anyone have an opinion on the Sony SLT-a37? I know it is a beginner model, but the missus is being a bit strict on how much I can spend. Plus, I have four lenses from my dad's old Minolta A-700 SLR (the film kind, yo) that will fit, so I'm already up in that category. Quote

Jefuemon Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 Went to Ashibetsu yesterday to clean the family grave prior to the Obon season. There's a huge statue of the Kanon in Ashibetsu. It was built in order to attract the tourists to town; they've recently closed it down because no one comes. Did get a chance to go in it before it closed, though. There's a observation deck on her chest. Also, trying to go for the "dreamy water" look on a small waterfall. Quote
Jefuemon Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 If you like the Tokyo Monorail, then next time you stay in Tokyo, stay at the Chisun Hotel in Hamamatsucho. Try to get a room on the 6th floor. Quote

azrael Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 Any thoughts on Canon's new EOS? Canon EOS M It's priced somewhat steep for a consumer camera. Versus a T3i, I'm not sure about what Canon is trying to do with this camera. Quote

eugimon Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 (edited) Man I really like your micro pics, any hints thanks! A tri-pod, remote trigger and a nice bright but overcast day works best for me. I usually do spot metering for the exposure. I know the serious guys have doublers and fancy flashes going on but I find the wife just looks at me funny when I try to explain why I need to spend another couple hundred dollars in order to take better pictures of bug faces... treatment Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 scored me another freebie old lens today from work. an AI-s: It was kinda sucky to play around with earlier since the D90 at work can only use it in manual-mode and the D90 doesn't have the non-cpu data stuff to help out. Brought it home and paired it up with my D7K as a new non-cpu entry and here are some quickies from the pair: for scale... This lens is just really damn fabulous and I so luv it! Yeah, so it's manual-focus and stuff, but it's really all good for macro and fast-normal usage. Not really recommended for D90 and lower models, tho. I'm really quite surprised it's still in excellent condition since people at work told me they bought it back in the late 90's and retired it in the closet about five years or so ago when they bought their current 105mm/VR to replace it. It's been in that closet until it got rescued today. For me. w00t! Quote
