A proper trailer has finally been posted of Kids on the Slope - the new Watanabe/Kanno collaboration on Noitamina.

I haven't watched anime in years because a lot of it is embarassing drivel (i'm talking about all the "moe" stuff that I just don't get at all) but this looks promising.

Mind you, this show (and Space Brothers, for this season) has a lot of high quality, from staff to looks.

With Aya Endo voicing as one of the characters. Check.

With Yoko Kanno working on the soundtrack. Check.

Be sure to brush up on some jazz knowledge, unless you've got this musical genre flowing right through your veins (and Japan is very big on jazz).

Anyone else catch ep 1? I really enjoyed it- they've nailed the character relationships (so far) and the period in a very enjoyable way IMO.

Just as promised, the first episode delivered everything, and tonight I have episode 2 lined up.

Ooh, sweet, a friend of mine mentioned this series in terms of who's involved, but didn't mention the jazz element. I'm going to have to keep an eye on this.

Episode 2 is excellent, too. I'm loving the characters, the settings, the mood, the music, everything. So far even my highest expectations after hearing the credit list are being met.
