Scream Man Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 The thing is it seems unlikely that the Blazer VF-19s will be re-issued this year again, or before the other variants, don't you think? That was my reasoning so i also ordered it at full price too rather than pay any premiums later for it because it's the only variant i like. Other than the YF-19, I dont know if ANY version of a 19 has been discounted often. Its a very popular fighter. I felt sure the Orange and Blue YF-19 variants would drop and missed em when they sold out. You never can tell! Quote
Golden Arms Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 Picked up DYRL Kakizaki and Max VF-1A's Quote

You never can tell! the "Bird of Prey" and "Double Nuts" variants, respectively? i had really wanted the DN, but it was pretty much impossible to find by the time i was in a position to afford one. water under the bridge, pretty much though, as i was somewhat recently able to pick up a 1st Ed. off of a fellow MWer at a great price... usagiz Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 I gave into temptation and popped on a weathered defender destroid... Now I dare yamato to give the phalanx kit a a set of legs! Quote
Dutch Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 (edited) I got the yf-21 at 45% off. I bought the M&M yf-22 off ebay about 4 weeks ago. I should have waited for this HLJ sale instead. Edited March 28, 2012 by Dutch Quote
ErikElvis Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 I kinda wished i went for the weathered 1/48 Hikaru..... Well maybe in the next few months. And the yf-21 was %45 off? I didn't see that. I woulda liked another for battroid. Quote

Dutch Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 Yeah the VF-22s go on sale all the time, I got both of mine for $112-115 each. I at least got them for a reasonable price, it was still more though. Quote
Scream Man Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 Yeah u can get both for about $250 shipped. Quote
usagiz Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 Yep, get the 22s, I really enjoy all 3 and my new yf-21! Only real complaint is the rear landing gear fold in too easy if you happen to move it... (null) Quote
Dutch Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 I used to like the yf-21 more than the vf-22. Though I recently watched macross 7 for the first time last month, so now I prefer the vf-22. Glad I own all 3 now. Quote
Benson13 Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 I need to find somewhere on the internet to watch Macross 7. So far it's the only major Macross I've yet to see. Quote

derex3592 Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 it's pretty rough the first 15 episodes or so...watch #1 and then skip about the next 15---you won't miss anything...after that it's better.. Quote
David Hingtgen Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 Not quite that many---you'll miss some of the best Milia/VF-1J action. I'd suggest skipping the first 10, the higher teens/early twenties, and most of the thirties. Quote

MacrossJunkie Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 I need to find somewhere on the internet to watch Macross 7. So far it's the only major Macross I've yet to see. In some cases it is better to have wished you watched, but never have, than to have watched and wished you hadn't. Quote
xrentonx Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 At the risk of keeping this off topic, I'm starting to think the only way I'll ever watch all of Macross 7 is if I pick up the eventual blu-rays. That way, I'll force myself to watch it cause I paid for it! An expensive gamble, I know! Quote
pfunk Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 Recieved the SDF-1 Model from Yamato, what a peice of engineering! Quote

An expensive gamble, I know! just download to your computer. set it up on stand to side of bed. dim it down. put it in for a couple episodes to run then let the screen go blank when they're done. thats how i watched it. ya miss some stuff but oh well. The 7 intro is great though. I normally hate FF throughout the opening credits but i usually let this one go. Quote
VF5SS Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 Just watch the show like a normal person, sheesh. Quote
eriku Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 (edited) I've been a member here for over a decade and during most of that time I avoided Macross 7 because of all the negativity lobbed at it from this forum. Then two years ago I decided to think for myself and just watch it. I'm glad I did, it's my second favorite Macross series behind SDF:M. Oh, and to stay on topic (as well as on topic for the off topic M7 discussion) I just got my VF-22 Max from the HLJ sale. It's my first experience with the 21/22 toy. I like penguin mode the best. I always end up not enjoying the first few episodes, losing interest quickly, and deleting the entire thing from my computer. It really is my least liked Macross series. Quote
Ahab Posted April 6, 2012 Posted April 6, 2012 As for the Mac7 toys...get em if you like the designs. As for story...make up your own, cause hand down it'll be better than the show ! Just sayin. Quote

I am on my 3rd (or is it 4th?) attempt. Couldn't get pass the first 4 ep before. I am now on ep 9. Man, I hope it gets better. BTW, I did watch all the OVAs before. They are ok. Sorry for the OT. ron5864 Posted April 6, 2012 Posted April 6, 2012 How did an HLJ sale topic discussion get hijacked into a Mac7 one? Haha... Macross 7 targeted a younger audience and the story did not pick up until Episode 21 or around there. Macross Plus debuted around the same period but it targeted an older crowd with a story that is more serious and mature. Also the action sequences in Mac Plus were more intense and complicated. So the Macross franchise covered all age groups using two separate Macross series in the mid 1990s. Either way, we got to see how differently Dyson and Basara handled the same model VF-19 in combat. Quote
Archer Posted April 6, 2012 Posted April 6, 2012 OT as well, but I quit Macross 7 after the series settled down into the "Basara sings to that one protodevlin girl to wake her up" slew of episodes. I thought it would get better after the first few episodes. It did not. I can understand why this series was targeted for little kids though.... Quote
pud333 Posted April 6, 2012 Posted April 6, 2012 How did an HLJ sale topic discussion get hijacked into a Mac7 one? Haha... Most likely because the sale wasn't that great. Quote
UN Spacy Posted April 6, 2012 Posted April 6, 2012 Most likely because the sale wasn't that great. Says the person with almost every VF out there. All jokes aside...people bought like crazy (it was originally four pages long). Quote
ErikElvis Posted April 6, 2012 Posted April 6, 2012 Just watch the show like a normal person, sheesh. 7, for some people, would prob be like telling you to sit down and watch a season of the young and the restless. Unless soaps are your thing. So you have to get creative. Quote
Scream Man Posted April 7, 2012 Posted April 7, 2012 I just watched it all for the first time and wasnt a big fan, but i liked it ok. Im glad i watched it all. Once ive watched dynamite, ill have seen all things Macross. Its certaily ot my favorite, but overall i liked its message, i liked a lot of its characters and i loved a bunch of its mecha. So i uess it worked on me Yeah the sale wasnt stupendous, other than the M&Ms. And honestly they arent my highest priority. Quote
t040484 Posted April 8, 2012 Posted April 8, 2012 let's put it this way, if you call yourself a macross fans then it is your duty to sit down and watch the entire saga of macross 7. it would be way worse than watching the entire twilight saga, but you will be proud of yourself afterwards. Quote
VF5SS Posted April 8, 2012 Posted April 8, 2012 If you have to force yourself to watch something, then don't do it because you probably won't enjoy it. However I think the reputation built around 7 is wholly undeserved. Macross fans are their own worse enemy. Quote
