Beltane70 Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 The anime world definitely lost a great man. Thank you for everything that you've given us, Ishiguro-san! You will truly be missed. Quote
Mercurial Morpheus Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 I'm devastated to hear the news. I feel fortunate for meeting him briefly at AX 06. He directed or was involved in so many shows I've enjoyed over the years that I'd probably not be half the fan I am today without him. Rest in Peace, Ishiguro-san. The anime community has lost one of it's grandest forefathers. Quote
Kronnang Dunn Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 (edited) For me your best works will always be Space Battleship Yamato, Macross and Orguss. Thank you for being such an awesome sci-fi anime director and a great person with the fans... your work and life will never be forgotten. "Goodnight, sweet prince...". Renato Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 This came as a huge shock to me, since we were supposed to meet again in February after his surgery. He was a wonderful person, it's up to us to continue his mission now. Rest in peace, sensei. Quote
Graham Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 Huge loss to the anime community. He really did bring joy to so many. Graham Quote
Mechamaniac Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 Wow. I was shocked and saddened to hear this. I just met him at last year's Otakon and he graciously signed my DYRL poster. RIP Ishiguro Sama Quote
xstoys Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 RIP. Thank you for allowing us to a part of your dream. Quote
Tober Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 Thank you for the brilliant anime you helped create. It was a highlight of my youth and defined what I would devote my career to. Quote
F-ZeroOne Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 (edited) "Macross" was one of the key "intro" series to anime for me, and probably many others (in whatever guise that may have been) - a great legacy he leaves behind. Edited March 22, 2012 by F-ZeroOne Quote
labsenpai Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 I was able to hear him speak at Katsucon 8 in Baltimore. I remember some fun comments he made about the studio being in a "seedy" part of town, and the day to day of making Macross. Quote
renegadeleader1 Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 I didn't realize how much of his I actually enjoyed, the world and anime in particular is a little bit darker now. He will be missed. Quote
Desert_tiger Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 network19 posted the link.... but just wanted to pay my respects to Noboru Ishiguro-san,from out in the deserts of afghanistan. Without his direction I would be lost..Yamato, Macross, Orgus, and the Desert tiger's real inspiration, Megazone 23. Rest in Peace. Quote
Prime Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 So thankful for his contributions to the shows I still love. The world was lucky to have someone like him... Quote
VF-15 Banshee Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 Interesting how some things intersect. The day that ishiguro passed away was about the same time last year when I started watching SDFMacross for the first time. Quote
Awacs Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 RIP Ishiguro Sama. Your work gave joy to many, you will be missed. I've been out of the loop for a little while and only just learned this. I shall raise a glass to toast his memory this evening. Karl Quote
isamu Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 Haven't lurking here so I am over a month late to this news. I am truly saddened. Met and interviewed him at AX1999 and would talk to him on several occasions. He was truly an anime icon. Can't believe it. Condolences and RIP Quote
antibiotictab Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 (edited) The stuffs of Macross were young and some were/are genius; especially Kawamori, Itano, and Anno. Gifted guys tend to be selfish. I don't know they were like that, if so, Ishiguro-san controlled them so well. He reminds me of Phil Jackson, the head coach of Bulls and Lakers. He could also deal with the players so well even though they were talented but assertive. Michael, Scottie, Denis, Kobe, and Shaq. Ishiguro-san might have the Zen thoughts like Mr. Jackson.
