mecha2241 Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 Just out of curiosity, how is this all Bay's fault? He's not the director, he's not the one designing the turtles, the Shredder, etc., and he's only one of 10 producers on this movie. Don't get me wrong, I think this movie looks like crap, I just think a lot the blame is misdirected... Quote

To quote Michael Bay from the article linked in the first post of this thread: These turtles are from an alien race, and they are going to be tough, edgy, funny and completely loveable. mecha2241 Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 By that logic Steven Spielberg should get all the hate for Transformers, not Bay, since you know, Spielberg is a producer for Transformers and not the director or designer. One sentence from Bay doesn't suddenly mean he is the reason why everything about this TMNT movie is crap. Put the blame on the actual director where it belongs... Quote
Scyla Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 But but but we love to hate Michael Bay! I thought you meant why this thread is calling out Mr. Bay and that is because it was a response to the presentation he did on the new TMNT concept. This is why we harp on Michael Bay. He presented himself to the public with this new concept so he is the one to blame. I never heard Spielberg talk about the Transformers movies. Michale Bay is a polarizing personality and with his background that he "ruined the Transformers" now producing and promoting the Turtles movie he will get flag from geeky fans like us. Of course Spielberg won't be used for promoting big action blockbusters when you can have Michael Bay instead (Transformers) and of course you will use Michael Bay to promote yet another big action blockbuster if your director is not that well known (Turtles). Has anyone seen the movie poster already? Does it state something around the lines of Michael Bay presents: TMNT Quote
Old_Nash Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 (edited) That's the Shredder, or a Silver Samurai's rejected Armor for the Wolverine Immortal? Edited June 24, 2014 by Old_Nash Quote
Dobber Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 I know there is a lot of hate going around for this movie here but I found the banter between the Turtles at the beginning when April found them pretty amusing.. "he's using his Batman voice" lol. Movie very well may suck...but I enjoyed that one tinny bit at least. Chris Quote
Tking22 Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 It's gonna take more then a couple of lines of witty banter for me to shell, lol, money out to see this. Shredder looks ridiculous, though I will admit the new trailer intrigued me, it seems like Shredder will indeed end up being Oroku Saki and not some tiny random white guy, I'm also not liking the replacement voices, Johny Knoxville is not doing it for me as far as Leonardo goes. The Shredder in this movie, have the same role like Bane in TDKR and Mandarin in IronMan 3. Shredder without shades... Edited June 29, 2014 by Old_Nash Quote
Old_Nash Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 (edited) What is wrong with his face? I believe he suffered some scars from fire, like the new version of 2012 Edited June 30, 2014 by Old_Nash Quote
reddsun1 Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 (edited) I like this version better already... Hehe, these guys are steppin' up their game with the budget... LOL *you wouldn't know genius if it pissed in your sewer* Edited July 23, 2014 by reddsun1 Quote
Tking22 Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 (edited) Honestly, between the dozen TV spots I just watched in a row on Youtube, plus the new Knock Knock trailer from a few posts up, I'm all in, and I'm fairly excited. The Turtles looks grew on me, they aren't that bad at all, they actually look pretty, dare I say, normal, in action and while moving, I think stills and posters look rough. The comedy seems there, the Turtles personalities seem intact, Shredder is Oroku Saki, yeah he's a giant robot armor, but I'll take it over another lame Aldrich Killian-esque cop out where a random white guy swaps himself for a badass long established villain. Edit: I also noticed in the Knock Knock trailer posted above, the Turtle's eyes roll back and go all white right at the end when they run out of the elevator, cool little detail and it's synonymous with most incarnations of the Turtles. Tking22 Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 This particular TV spot aired about 20 minutes ago for me, I likes it, like I said, I'm officially sold, I'll probably do DFX. Quote
Dynaman Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 All I saw was Bay's nausea inducing camera work again. Camera work is supposed to help tell the story and NOT make you sick. Pass. Quote
Max Jenius Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 The trailers are growing on me. I'd prefer they stick to the comic series, but this seems like it will be in the vein of the cartoons/playmates toys which is fine with me. Quote

Tking22 Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 I gotta wonder, are people genuinely still disliking this movie even after all the incredible trailers and TV spots, or is it because people still see the word Bay so hate, hate, hate? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ac0ZRiGmHnc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hm-GQSLkNf8 These international TV spots are killing it, the final Shredder fight looks insane. At this point I can totally understand why Shredder got upgraded to a mecha power-suit, the Turtles stand about 6 to almost 7 feet tall, Oroku needed an upgrade, and it definitely looks like he moves fine within his armor. At this point I have zero to complain about except for Megan Fox, there's been a suspicious lack of footage of her, so I'm hoping she gets as little screen time as possible and the Turtles are the focus. Dobber Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 I agree....the more I see, the more I like. Still may suck, BUT, I'm probably going to go see it now. Chris Quote

Mommar Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 It'll be on TV sometime anyway. Just have it on in the background and see how it is then. That's what I plan to do. Unless, within the next two weeks I run into the super-model who just HAS TO go see Ninja Turtles. I might sell myself out for that (it's more likely than more Robotech...) Quote
peter Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 (edited) I'll wait for the torrent to come out......then maybe download it and watch it when I'm really desperate. Even if when Bay starts directing porn, and Megan Fox fulfills her TRUE destiny, I wouldn't willingly watch his films.......well, I might have a peek, as long as he doesn't do any close ups of her weird thumbs. I hate it BECAUSE of those spots. Looking at them clearly shows they are using what I call "Vomit cam". I can't stand that quick shot, frenetic, camera "work" during action scenes. Quote
