electric indigo Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 The two-seater looks even more like something out of Ace Combat Quote
renegadeleader1 Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 You think that's odd go look at the YA-10B. Quote
Shadow Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 The Viggen still remains one of my alltime favorite fighters. Thanks for the pics. I'd never seen the two-seater bofore actually. Quote
Knight26 Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 You think that's odd go look at the YA-10B. You take that back the A-10B NA/AW is freaking gorgeous, I love driving by it as much as I can since it is parked at the base museum Quote

buddhafabio Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 the cause of the oxygen problems in the raptor has been found....... http://gizmodo.com/5931838/air-force-says-tight-vests-are-what-has-been-grounding-all-these-f+22s Quote
Chronocidal Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 Yeah, no. That doesn't make sense at all. If you can't tell the difference between, "Hey, this clothing feels so tight I can't breathe well" and, "I'm getting lightheaded for some reason," you have no business anywhere near an aircraft, let alone any moving vehicle. That's two entirely different things. Quote
Ghost Train Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 Still doesn't explain how some of the ground crew are reporting feeling ill when working on the aircraft. Can't wait to see how many surprises the F-35 has in store for everyone once its fully in service! Quote
raptormesh Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 Does anyone here collect Century Wings 1/72 F-14? I'm thinking of getting the pre-order but am not familiar with the diecast game. Any reasons I should hold off? Quote
reddsun1 Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 Still doesn't explain how some of the ground crew are reporting feeling ill when working on the aircraft. Must be some o' that super secret stuff derived from Area 51... What? Does anybody buy that "official" explanation? Not to sound like a conspiracy theorist or anything (left my tinfoil hat at home), but... --"Weather balloon. That's what it was." --"But, there are several eyewitness accounts that conflict..." --"I said it was a weather balloon. Thank you, ladies and gentlemen. No further comment." if you're gonna sell a bunch of sh*t--you could at least put it in a fancy mason jar, with a nice label on it. Quote

Any reasons I should hold off? I do, and I'm not the only one here that does. Best F-14 model out there bar none. Pricey, and frankly over-priced, but it is the best by far. Quote

Any reasons I should hold off? Definitely best in terms of accuracy. However, they are expensive and the brand has recently experienced some QC issues. Recommend that you buy from a reputable dealer just in case. Quote
raptormesh Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 (edited) Thanks guys, will do that. Funny that i'm contemplating spending more than $150 on a non transforming jet but I'd really love to have a good representation of the Turkey . Edit: Decided to forgo the pre-order and grabbed a VF-84 F-14A 1991 from an Australian online vendor instead. It's from a couple of years ago though so hopefully it's alright. Shadow Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 Hope this isn't breaking the political barrier but it looks like the Syrian air force is down one Mig-23. http://www.bbc.co.uk...e-east-19246708 Quote
505thAirborne Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 Wonder if that pilot ejected or not. Quote
the white drew carey Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 The Syrian government is saying it was an aircraft malfunction during a training mission. Quote
505thAirborne Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 I'm no expert but that sure sounds like AA fire in the background right about the time that MIG started flaming. Quote
Beltane70 Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 By "technical problems" they mean that the plane ran into some random bullets that happened to be in its flightpath! Quote
Ghost Train Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 (edited) Hearing someone cheer Allah is great with such enthusiasm as the pilot is probably bursting into flames in a flying coffin makes me think twice about whether these so called democratic revolutions will really bring about any real change in the region. Note that I'm not saying Al-Assad is some sort of saint I like airplanes, puppies, and ice cream. Edited August 13, 2012 by Ghost Train Quote
David Hingtgen Posted August 13, 2012 Author Posted August 13, 2012 Do I even need to say that post was political and not really relevant to the thread? Quote
mechaninac Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 That was as much an instance of "technical malfunction" as someone meeting his end by firing squad and having the autopsy's cause of death read "lead poisoning". When will these tinpot despots learn that making wild claims in order to deny the obvious and/or save face just makes them look pathetically foolish? Quote
Shadow Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 (edited) Flying low and slow over an area with Anti-Aircraft populating it is just asking to be shot down. I recall another incident that happened in Libya where a Flogger was shot down while flying in the same manner. Edited August 14, 2012 by Shadow Quote
pfunk Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 lol, lead poisoning and malfunctioned by running into random anti aircraft fire. Sounds like it was shot down to me. The Raptor vest thing sounds interesting since they couldn't figure there was a problem in say over 20 years of use Quote
antibiotictab Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 Anyone goes to Yokota Air Base this weekend? Japanese - American Friendship Festival 2012 is held. Vifam7 Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 It looks like the Air Force and LockMart knew about the Raptor's life support system issue 12 years ago, but decided to pinch pennies... http://abcnews.go.co...ory?id=16957535 Quote

reddsun1 Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 (edited) I'm not up on DoD current events type stuff. So has anyone tried to offer any sort of reasonable explanation for why the Raptors are allegedly making the ground crews sick too? They blaming that on the life support system, too? www.youtube.com/watch?feature=endscreen&v=0tq-wlspDb8&NR=1 Edited September 2, 2012 by reddsun1 Quote
dizman Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 Last I heard the explanation was that it was psychological. Example: "A few pilots experienced this problem so I am experiencing these problems too." Yeah it's just another BS explanation. Quote
