David Hingtgen Posted November 20, 2016 Author Posted November 20, 2016 Regardless of all other things, Trump's a Boeing guy, and I have a hard time believing AF1 would ever be an Airbus. Quote
NZEOD Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 otherwise... its pretty accurate for what he would demand be built for him. Quote

mechaninac Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 SJW? YouTube it. Sit back and watch... hilarity and disbelief ensues. Quote

Shadow Posted December 8, 2016 Posted December 8, 2016 Another USMC F/A-18C lost along with the pilot. The Canadians are also having issues with wear and tear on their Hornets too. http://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/6407/pilot-killed-in-yet-another-marine-f-a-18-hornet-crash I'm slightly curious as to why the F-16C isn't having as many complications as it's been in service a few years more than Hornet. Probably due to a serious lack of spare parts? There was a recent news story of the Marines going to museum display Hornets to pull off needed parts. The Legacy Hornet has been out of production for awhile so I guess spare parts must be getting harder and harder to get. Edited December 8, 2016 by Vifam7 Quote
Valkyrie Hunter D Posted December 8, 2016 Posted December 8, 2016 R.I.P. Mr. John Glenn, you had a great run. Quote
Dobber Posted December 11, 2016 Posted December 11, 2016 That is AMAZING! I am always impressed with what these custom LEGO builders can do. Chris Quote
mickyg Posted December 11, 2016 Posted December 11, 2016 That is magnificent! Canopy is obviously custom but I can't see a whole lot more I can readily pick out as 'not lego' from the vid. Quote
electric indigo Posted December 12, 2016 Posted December 12, 2016 The new paintjob on the Fullbacks fades quite rapidly. Quote
miles316 Posted December 13, 2016 Posted December 13, 2016 The new paintjob on the Fullbacks fades quite rapidly. I always liked the Faded paint jobs on Russian planes. Quote
spanner Posted December 13, 2016 Posted December 13, 2016 That is AMAZING! I am always impressed with what these custom LEGO builders can do. Chris I know eh! its clearly the best lego aircraft I have seen in a long while! That is magnificent! Canopy is obviously custom but I can't see a whole lot more I can readily pick out as 'not lego' from the vid. He does mention he vacuum forms his own canopies but I think that's the only thing non lego. Its bloody impressive! I'd love to have that on display! Quote
spanner Posted December 13, 2016 Posted December 13, 2016 some of these are actually quite funny! Quote
Mazinger Posted December 13, 2016 Posted December 13, 2016 Ha, that first one referenced a park where I used to run Cross Country competitions in High School. John Wayne is the second largest airport in the Los Angeles/Orange County area. Shocking to here that there is only *ONE* guy to give guidance! Crazy! some of these are actually quite funny! Quote
Shadow Posted December 14, 2016 Posted December 14, 2016 The new paintjob on the Fullbacks fades quite rapidly. All that Syrian sun doing a number on the black paint. Granted, I rather preferred the traditional blue camo pattern of the Flanker family over the solid dark gray. Quote
Sildani Posted December 14, 2016 Posted December 14, 2016 I love the Fullback. Effective, funky yet good looking, you can make a cup of coffee and relieve yourself, even take a nap on a cot. While carrying AAMs, ASMs, and bombs. At treetop level. Quote
spanner Posted December 14, 2016 Posted December 14, 2016 was never a big fan of the Su-34 but it has grown on me over the last few years.. Quote
Shadow Posted December 14, 2016 Posted December 14, 2016 I remember the manual for USNF Gold back in the day literally calling it the Su-34 Platypus. Also, oops. Quote
F-ZeroOne Posted December 14, 2016 Posted December 14, 2016 (edited) Is that why they call it "Fullback"...? Israeli F-16 and F-35; interesting missile load-out on the -16... Edited December 14, 2016 by F-ZeroOne Quote
Duymon Posted December 14, 2016 Posted December 14, 2016 I wonder if that double-seat F-16I despite droptanks and conformals has better avionics than the F-35 next to it... *trolls runs away before F-16 and F-35 debate sparks up again* Quote
Firefox Posted December 15, 2016 Posted December 15, 2016 Looks like the Israeli will still have to depend on their trusted F-15 to do the heavy lifting in the future Quote
Vifam7 Posted December 15, 2016 Posted December 15, 2016 The fact that the Israeli AF purchased the F-35 says something. I'm pretty sure that when they choose what fighter jet to purchase, they don't take it lightly. Quote
Shadow Posted December 15, 2016 Posted December 15, 2016 Would imagine the F-35 is there to replace their aging F-16 fleet, particularly the F-16A and Bs still in service. The F-15s will stick around for awhile I imagine. A very interesting missile loadout on the F-16 Quote
Sildani Posted December 16, 2016 Posted December 16, 2016 Lord, the F-16 has so many bumps and warts and gold-plated crap hanging off it, it's almost unrecognizable. Quote
David Hingtgen Posted December 16, 2016 Author Posted December 16, 2016 Interesting comparison, that the heavily upgraded F/A-18A+ (and now the C+) take advantage of electronics being miniaturized over the years---they tend to be lighter than older/"gradually upgraded" versions, since the same capabilities can now be fit en masse into fewer and smaller "black boxes" etc. Yet the F-16 only ever seems to "plaster on more bits" wherever there's room. Bonus: Found a nice new early Tomcat pic: http://collections.naval.aviation.museum/emuwebdoncoms/objects/common/webmedia.php?irn=71201 Quote
Shadow Posted December 16, 2016 Posted December 16, 2016 I love the squadron paint jobs on the earlier F-14As. Lack of space on the F-16 probably explains the somewhat Frankenstein method for adding additional capabilities. I wonder how much more gracefully the F-16XL would have adapted to modifications to keep it up-to-date given its larger size. Quote
