When the time comes, don't pull the trigger :lol: . It's a fun fight, kinda reminiscent of The End from MGS3. As for Paz....

Make sure you listen to the final tape she gives you when you finish her sidestory, that gives a bit of closure to the whole thing

Question: do I get to just turn off the PS4 for a week, and come back to find out she died of old age waiting for me? :lol: Seriously though, do I need to use only non-lethal weapons, or does the game throw in a cutscene of her losing once I've inflicted enough damage?

And thanks for the info on Paz! I was wondering if I should complete her missions, knowing the inevitable ending. Just thought it would be less depressing to maintain the illusion by keeping her around indefinitely. But as long as there's some proper closure for Paz, I'll complete the missions.

BTW, I absolutely love the 80's music. Not exactly practical while on missions (it drowns out the sounds of nearby soldiers you haven't tagged), but it's great when you're free-roaming, setting traps and looking for animals to tranq. Speaking of which, those f**king bears took at least a whole mag of tranq darts to put to sleep.

You can defeat quiet using

lethal or non lethal tactics, the big choice comes after the battle. When I stumbled into her I only had a lethal sniper rifle, it worked pretty well.

It's great that you can miss such a big part of the game, most times games want you to see everything in one go.

Many thanks for the tips, guys. I used the supply drop method, and landed my first S rank mission. Just have to trudge on until mission 14 to unlock her as a buddy.

For anyone who's into Skullgirls, a new fighting game is currently being developed using the same engine. Them's Fightin' Herds originally began as a My Little Pony: Friendship is magic fangame, but has since been retooled into an all-original project with the help of MLP creator Lauren Faust. What's with this game, really?

Kojima's really overdoing it with the phantom pain thing. First Paz, and now Quiet. Yes, I get it; you (Kojima) want us to hate Skull Face (I'm guessing he has something to do with Quiet not being playable past mission 43) and then deny us the chance to kill him, so the "phantom pain" lingers. But jeez...

BTW, I finally unlocked the "dispatch missions" ability. Good thing I pretty much Fulton'ed every single soldier in Angels Without Wings (mission 10), and got a few rank A combatants and a Tough Guy specialist. And with a fully-upgraded Fulton device, I can now take on missions 7 and 8 with ease. Apparently, the best way to deal with these missions is to just Fulton the tanks away instead of trying to destroy them.

Fulton is always the answer! Quiet story spoilers....

It is indeed a bummer that she had to go but I get what Kojima was going for. Allies come and go on the battlefield kinda thing. That said I would have liked to have her come back after you beat all the missions or something along those lines. I hear tell if you put the butterfly emblem on your base she wont leave, too bad that is something most people won't know till its too late.

Also, f^ck Hewey, I hope his son f^cks his new wife, and he shoots himself in the end. With that said, every disfunction Hal has is totally understood.

But I digress. I don't even wanna ride in the helicopter anymore, it's so lonely now. And there's no point in hoing to the Med strut without Quiet's dance party awaiting me there. What kinda cruel joke is it for people only playing around their birthday to get the Quiet birthday scene? Why would you do that Hideo? That's sooo mean!

I just want to cry, I've lost something I can never get back. Konami better make this right with dlc, I'll pay good money!

Oh, and mission 51:

Watched it on the bonus BD. Would totally pay for that as DLC too.

You'll get the Butterfly emblem for doing non-lethal runs through missions. As for the Birthday scene, there are two that play out. One regular one that happens when you return to MB on your birthday (entered at the beginning of the game), and one special one when Quiet is one of your buddies, where she shoots HBD into a large container, cigars pop out, and she shoots one lit for you.

We could probably take the discussion to the MGSV thread, oh well. Mission 51 spoilers kinda

I dunno why mission 51 didn't get put in, it's just a reused boss fight. I suppose they needed to make an all new island environment but with 5 years they shoulda been able to make it happen. They already had the voiceover work and most of the cutscenes worked out. Maybe it will be DLC, but with Konami acting so strangely these days who can tell. I do love Venoms "Don't blame yourself, blame me."

Some DLC was already announced for MGSV, outfits for everyone (except DD and D-Walker)! I kinda want it just for the MGS3 sneaking suit :p .

In other game news, Plauge of Shadows free update is out for Shovel Knight. It's great, play it!

Well, mission 51 would be cool too. There is a lot more to it than just an environ and boss A.I.

Has anyone played Cities: Skylines? I've been eyeing this game for months and I'm still waiting for a good reason to pull the trigger on buying this one. I used to be a huge SimCity fan. I played SC 2000 for endless hours on my old Packard Bell 486-SX 25 MHz computer. SimCity 3000 was a great sequel, and then I lost interest when SC4 came out. I haven't played the new SimCity, as the reviews for it were awful. Is Cities: Skylines the answer to my city simulation desires?

In all seriousness, I can't think of any system that's had such a consistent release pattern for so long after it was discontinued. I don't think a year has gone by since 99 that there hasn't been A new Dreamcast game put out.

This is essentially a homebrew game, no? Many defunct systems get releases like this every year. There's a large community built around this sort of thing.

Sort of. It's an officially-sanctioned port of a commercial game, so it's not really straight homebrew. But it's definitely not a commercial release title like "Alice's Mom's Rescue" was back in March. While unlicensed, it IS still a commercial release. Or Ghost Blade, which came out last monday.

Oh. No release in 2010, it looks like. The DC died in 2010. RIP in peace, Katana. :(

Anyways, most defunct systems are dead for a decade or so before any major homebrew development starts. The DC's started before it died, and some folks actually make a living selling newly-developed games.

The last licensed official release was in 2007. They killed the GD-ROM production lines that year, so there's no way to print official DC games anymore.

But DC can boot CD-ROM media, and as long as there are cheap chinese CD presses, there will be new games! (And by most accounts, NG:DEV.TEAM actually makes pretty good games, as long as you like scrolling shooters.)

Wow, that's something you could easily miss if you didn't know in advance. Definitely replaying MGSV on my birthday.

BTW, got any tips Hellbound? I kind of got dropped into the middle of it, totally unprepared--didn't expect to get forced into a main mission after doing that side mission for Huey. I barely made it out of the power plant alive (got impatient trying to time myself while taking out soldiers while the chopper was away, and one soldier eventually saw me). And once I made it to the northern hangar, I got my timing wrong again and got shot to shreds by the walkers.

I restarted at the entrance of the northern base, and exited the game, looking for some tips.

Not sure, I usually tranq them for safety, otherwise you risk doing that obnoxious dance with the walker as you try to run behind it.

Well, I haven't played it personally, no. But, from everything I've heard, it's the best city-building game on the market, and Paradox has a stellar reputation. I'd say pull the trigger, but wait for a sale.

Yeah, I just tried Fulton'ing the walker with the rider still on it--didn't work. When you get close, it only gives you the option to press R2 to CQC the guy. You can only Fulton the walker after pulling him off of it.

My bad. It's just that the MGSV thread seemed to be more about the upcoming Sehelanthropus figures these days than the game itself, so I thought it would be more on-topic to post game-related questions here.

Yeah, normally this is the only game thread to post in so for most games its unavoidable but glad there's one dedicated to mgsv

I've been avoiding reading posts related mgs to avoid any spoilers as i havent got a chance to open my copy yet.

Though i havent read any posts related to mgsv, but seeing the numerous posts, it looks like everyone is having fun playing it:)

It's got the most addictive gameplay of any MGS titles I've played so far. I've got a work-related deadline looming tomorrow, but I just can't help sneaking a half hour or so of MGSV every now and then! :lol:

nice :) i'm getting excited, i'll prob have some time in Oct. to really sit down and pour into this. i remember when mgs 4 came out and it had an encyclopedia dlc that i dug through all night reading everything after i beat the game. (same for mgs 1 reading those novels were fun on the extras)

i wish :p i'm out almost all the time and checking MW on my iphone here and there.

man, i wish i could do that. but once i get in i have about 30-45 mins to play and i dont want to start a new game until i'm fresh and ready so i end up just doing mindless grinding on FFX (pretty much beat it and raising stats for side quests)

Considering they've kickstarted and completed a few other pc games like ShadowRun I think this will get made. Plus it's walking tanks, not anime gundam robots. LRM's and PPC fire!
