Space Brick video review.

I actually didn't make it through more than a couple minutes as I felt it was spoiling some of the sense of discovery I enjoy while handling a much-anticipated toy for the first time.

From his review, the funniest thing was that extra sword-handle. For an extra part, it was so thin and stuff that am not sure how this figure can actually grip it securely. Not really sure why TT really cheaped out on it.

Charles didn't do it, but for anyone else that has MP-24, have it do GERWALK mode and post a pic.

Stopped by a TRU on the way home from lunch with the wife. I was pleased to see that they had a ton of Combiner Wars (stuff that's non-existant at the local Walmarts and Targets), but all the deluxes are wave 1, and they had no voyagers. They had both leader Megatrons, though. I grabbed the IDW/G1 version.

In hand, he looks a lot better than a lot of the promo pics. Good ratcheting joints, although the legs are hindered by a crotch plate that honestly serves no purpose, and he's got next to nothing in terms of ankles. Lots of silver paint, which is nice, and head looks good, although the face is very animated G1. He's got a pretty simple transformation and he's a little large compared to other CHUGs, which makes me think I'll still use Hegemon with them. I almost think he'd have made a better voyager... at that size/price, I'd probably buy the Armada repaint, too, but not at the leader scale. Despite the simple transformation, he's pretty solid, and I think the designer did a pretty good job of making a very G1-ish Megatron that turns into one of the better tanks I've played with. The turret even rotates 360 degrees, although due to the transformation the barrel can't move up and down. At the leader scale, though, you'd think they'd have built some flaps on his arms that could cover the top of the turret. I give them credit for molding some black parts on the sides of his legs that are reminiscent of the grips on G1 Megatron's legs.

It's hard for me to say if I'd recommend him or not. There are better 3rd party options if you want a voyager (Hegemon) or Masterpiece (Apollyon), but obviously this Megatron is much cheaper. And, this is probably the best "classic" Megatron that Hasbro/Takara has made, especially since almost every other release since the first Classics nerf gun has been a Deluxe. If you want a CHUG Megatron that towers over his minions, this is the one to get... as long as you don't mind him really towering. He comes up to a Combiner Wars combiner's chest or so.

also seems which is compatible with g1 victory leo

eriku mentioned that a couple of days ago.

They made MP Star Saber backwards-compatable with G1 Leo so you can form Victory Saber!

So excited to get mine on Monday or Tuesday. Haven't been this excited about a TF toy in a very long time.

Got Exhaust a few days ago. He's OK, I get the impression that the parts fit isn't as neat as Wheeljack, though. There are several things which bug me, such as the back plate keeps falling down, a little elbow hinge crack, and a noticeable "chip off the shoulder" literally. I can post photos of those later, but anyway, here's a pic of what I did as soon as I transformed it:

Needs more battery-operated light&sound lasers.

Batteries are a pain in the ass though haha. You can just play the show in the background imo

Got my Gundam Space Brick bomb pop robot today. It's f***ing amazing.

:p:p:p

you going to do a review? the brick mode is not doing it for me in the youtube vids. the bot mode looks great

Depends how you look at it, Star Sabers value to me is worthless. I've never had any attachment to the character. I never watched victory as a kid. The only ones that have any nostalgia value to me are they early ones. I lost interest when Hot Rod replaced Optimus. It does look like a great toy, I just don't have any interest in him.

Nah, there are enough reviews already. I can give some additional thoughts beyond my brainless "f***ing amazing" comment though!

It is a toy first and foremost. There are a couple greebly bits that one needs to be cautious around (wing tips, antannae) but otherwise this thing is a rock-solid ages 5 and Up TOY. According to the designer, this was very much the intent. He wanted to make something that was what everyone wished the original was, a durable toy that had more detail and articulation. As such, it does not quite have the 'refinement' that most other Masterpiece toys have. Most of those 'feel' like a collectors item, this 'feels' like a toy. For a toy enthusiast like me that is a very, very good thing. Also for a Victory/Star Saber enthusiast this thing is a wet dream, seriously. Pulling this out of the box was like popping a viagra. That said...

This sums up how a lot of people will feel, and I think if you don't like the source material there isn't a huge chance the toy is going to 'do it' for you. If you love Victory and Star Saber you'll probably want to give the toy and the designer a hug. If you just love "japanese robot toys" indescriminantly you'll probably also find a lot to appreciate. If your love of Transformers ends after season 2 or 3 then there isn't much reason for you to have this in your collection.

Now, back to hugging my MP Star Saber.:wub::wub:

I agree that Hot Rod and Ultra Magnus were kind of the beginning of the end for realistic 80's designs and clunky robots. At the end of the day plot means nothing, because these are commercials for cartoons and even the first 2 seasons weren't amazing stories, though some were very solid. It's all about the design for me.

I think Victory is different though because of the Japanese flavor. All the combining nonsense, and the obvious Gundam influences. It's just a really cool mash-up in my mind. I really don't get how a macross/gundam fan wouldn't love the hell out of a flying Optimus Prime, when Prime already has a Gundam face plate. Also the Mospeda like fighter/shuttle mode.

It's similar, but different and hits all the right spots to interest me. I was vaguely aware of it as a kid but I'd moved on. It's not so much about nostalgia as completionist nostalgia. Plus the old Japanese transformers that were hot in those markets had a certain mystique back in the day

Also, it harkens back to the power master/head master age and this is the first MP to have those gimmicks which is exciting. And finally it just looks like an amazing robot with tons of solid gimmicks and thought poured into it. Could potentially be the coolest MP yet released.

I still wouldn't spend $200 bucks on a 10 year old seeker mold that should be less than $100 haha. Call me when they update fighter mode.

Also, I'm stoked that my new formers are on the ground in my city, though I probably wont get them til tomorrow.

I do plan on doing a review and comparing him to some things I have.

^ All of that is what originally drew me to Star Saber over a decade ago. First it was, "who's that? He looks cool." Then I got the Robotmasters toy when it came out and loved it, then I watched as much Victory as I could find on the internet, then I truly fell in love with the show and characters beyond the initial aesthetic appreciation. So...13 years I guess is probably long enough for me to have developed some nostalgia, but I still don't feel like it's a nostalgia buy.

And yeah, I don't think I'd even spend $25 on another one of that seeker mold. It sounds a bit petulant of me but I'd like a better seeker mold at this point, especially for the bizzarrely high asking prices.

I think it's harder for Macross fans too, because the fighter modes are so bad. The robot modes are ok, but a little dated, and I just hate the transformation. I feel their scale is a little off too. They should be a bit taller than the autobot cars, but a bit smaller than Mp-10.

I'm still hoping for an update at some point.

It's mostly the transformation that I hate about them, but as you said everything is 'off'. I know that the new delivery arm for the wing/arm lasers is pretty widely lauded among the TF community as brilliant engineering but to me that was actually a negative addition. I just don't care for how it looks or works.

Nothing about the current mold impresses me really. I'd rather have the old mold where at least the fighter looks realistic, and a semi- goofy bot mode.

Cool stuff David.

Welp, what a kick in the balls. They finally put out bluestreak and they are limiting it to 2,000 pieces. That's not a ton... maybe half of a normal run? or a 1/3? I feel like Tigertrack was "limited" but he was everywhere.

I went ahead and put an order through a proxy buyer. frakk it. Not paying $200 for this guy haha.

It's happening! TakaraTomyMall has just revealed a Masterpiece figure that will surely send fans into a frenzy: MP-18B Bluestreak! That's right, it's a blue Bluestreak! This deco is based on the Diaclone figure and has been a color scheme desperately wanted by the fanbase.

According to the web page, it looks like this will be a limited release of about 2,000 and available in Japan, likely as a web or other type of exclusive, so it may be one of the more difficult pieces to obtain.
