Looks great man. Never had him.

I bet he's happy to have some new life.

That's cool about shapeways too.

No reason to fight it I guess.

Bronies have more of a reason to rejoice than TF fans, as 3P MLP figurines were not allowed to be sold at Shapeways. Now, they can do so at Super Fan Art.

Of course, there's still a catch. Your designs have to be approved by Hasbro before you can sell them there. I suspect they just want to make sure your stuff doesn't have any offensive elements in it more than anything else. Lesbian pony porn statues are a no-no, obviously.

I bought a severely discolored G1 Slugslinger and decided to give him a full paint job.

RD blade, that's awesome. brings back memories. i need some target masters: hod rod, trigger happy, and cyclonus. i didn't have enough money as i kid so i ended up choosing between headmasters vs. targetmasters.

i decided to collect headmasters instead. back then this was so new i wanted to see the tech specs readout (str, int, spd) once the head is attached. target masters didn't offe that gimmick so i passed. damn they were cool.

Oh yeah.

I'll take some when I'm home or doing my next review. He's chilling on the book shelf with Galvatron, Metroplex, Wreckgar, Omega Supreme, and my Original (But repaired) Legioss Alpha fighter.

All complete :D and OG.

The only other complete decent pieces I had from my childhood was a few of the headmasters but I didn't feel that attached to them.

But seriously, I still pick him up and transform him. Really simple and clicky haha

Because I promised, a quick update: Sidecutter from Captured Prey got back to me this evening regarding MP-11. I have a return label for my damaged one and he hopes to get the replacement out to me tomorrow. This experience has reminded me to 1) be persistent 2) be patient 3) read the fine print. Phew!

I hope this one survives those elephants at the post office.

Thanks. I've been on a G1 Targetmaster kick lately. I've managed to get all 6 (standard single TM) Autobots and 4 of the Decepticons. Some of them don't have their Nebulon gun partners, but I'm not really bothered by that. MasterShooter's Targetmaster sets took care of that problem.

I had very few Targetmasters back in the day, not all that many Headmasters---but nearly all the Powermasters. That said, I haven't bought any reissues or even old originals---none were THAT good IMHO. But I am planning on a few 3P versions. (hoping for a 3P Triggerhappy some day)

Yep, very few G1 figures were very good. But something about the Target/Head/Powermaster gimmick really resonated with me. Some of those toys were terrible, but that they included a little human-sized partner made me want them. And the toys became scarce pretty quickly. Eventually, the only TFs on the shelves in my area were Pretenders and Duocons. I got one of each and, to this day, I attribute how much they sucked to my "outgrowing" Transformers.

Crazy... that's like saying G1 cartoon wasn't good....

all of the originals were great. from 84-86. that's why we have masterpiece bc of the greatness of the original toys and cartoon. 3rd party can suck it :p

can anyone doubt soundwave? that was a great engineered toy. without it... we would never have mp.

how about shockwave? starcream? optimus? jazz? hound? astrotrain? metroplex? etc....

I remember breaking starscream in my parents car right in the parking lot of the store we bought him 10 minutes precious back in the 80s. Was so pissed how fragile it was.

I was also pretty fond of the headmasters/ target master line. I think mostly cause of the comic miniseries. Always a fan of stories that involves other groups of transformers that weren't on earth with Optimus and the rest.

Ahh i remember my friends losing the fists and landing gear. You know what we called them? Sloppy kids. They prob couldnt put the labels on straight. Lol jk, starscream was awesome, especially his gold sticker eyes. I actually filed down the attach point of starscreams wings so it'll fit better. Lol

Sandman i do remember those comics!!! Loved the headmasters. Wish season 4 didnt end so quickly.

What is difference between mass effect and transformers?

One is a science-fiction epic, masterpiece of dramatic writing, and one of the greatest products of the modern era.

The other is Mass Effect.

I would consider Soundwave a very good toy by today's standards. The others you listed were good at the time and are beloved now mostly due to nostalgia. That's not a bad thing because it's the very reason we're getting MPs now that match what we imagined our G1 toys to be.

Prowl is up at tru if anybody wants the tru version.

Hasn't it been up?

Since MP-10, TRU's been greedy. Hasbro said $99.99, demand was insane, TRU jacked it up to $130. Not sure what price Hasbro would have suggested for Prowl, but considering you can import the Takara version for less, I'm betting it wasn't $80.

nostalgia and MP's aside, (it's unfair to compare MP level line up to the original G1 bc MP's are obviously suped up versions of those G1 toys as well as the 3p interpretations. in the 80-300+ price range.)

but if i were to compare 3rd - 7th grade level toys today in the same price range with inflation included, i'd say the 84 G1's (diaclone/micro) still kick some serious butt. trailbreaker sidewipe, prowl, wheeljack still have great transformations and designs. (so far on limited offerings of MP cars, they still look feel like g1. with more articulation, gimmicks) mp grimlock is still G1 grimlock...

from a toy standpoint, i still feel it's more than nostalgia, those g1 toys really stand the test of time. (the old lineup and combiners.)

(though i do admit a few of the later TF toys were sorta crappy. i wasn't impressed with rodimus prime nor power master prime.) but shockwave... man, that'll hold up today...

i walk through walmart target and toys r us these days and the only thing that i see holding a candle to those diaclone g1's are

lego type sets and complex variations of it. (creo, etc.) every other toy i see i'm not impressed with. i guess all the effort and engineering today goes into iphones and videogames...

modern transformers are the way they are now for a few reasons.

hasbro figured out that people want an action figure as much as they want a transformer. Rather than look good in two modes, peopel wanted a figure they coudl act out their cartoon fantasies wtih. i mean its not like the idea of ball joints and cost reduction is a new thing!!

That is something G1 toys were never very good at with their limited articulation. overall the G1 line from 84-85 was very good. optimus, jetfire (of course i'd mention him on a macross board!!), shockwave, soundwave, sunstreaker, mirage, hound (did not have him but he was nice), sideswipe, perceptor (had the pre tf version), the dinobots (all of them but swoop were pretty damn decent), tracks. i do think its an overstatement to say nothing on the toy shelves nowadays can compete. taking aside all bias for G1...there are some great figures out there in the past few years. they may be few and far between but....you'd be hard pressed to find better examples of transformers (nevermind your stanceon the aesthetics) than TF Prime first edition optimus or bulkhead, ROTF LEader prime, TF Prime RiD vehicon (just damn awesome with that transformation!!), and some of the generations toys like RTS Jazz, wreck gar, tracks. that being said there are many many stinkers. there slawys have been though (most g1 minibots sucked as did ratchet, ironhide, and the 86 and on toys).

You sir must have bumped your head and become concussed when you replied. Or it was opposite day in your world.

On-Topic/still sorry;

I've spotted Sunstorm at two different Toys R Us stores and each time shook my head in disgust as I walked way.

Oooooo...LOL

Well in that case, that WAS a good one!

For anyone paying attention it's hilarious how often the pre-orders for MP Wheeljack, Bumblebee and to an extent Ultra Magnus open and close on HLJ.

Yeah the page is gone now, but they were asking $490 before shipping.

Feel a lot better about the $350 shipped I paid.

There is one on ebay with 12 bids and 4 days left. Currently at 260.

There are also a bunch of loose Rodimus toys on eBay. Well, maybe 'bunch' a bit much but at least 4 different ones. All claim to be brand new but loose. Is this a sign that a reissue is about to launch?

I reckon it's a sign that Rodimus toys are just loosey crap toys.
