I figure Takara would release Megatron V2, because of the reissue V1 (Gold edition). I've ordered one from Xtransbot and I will get the Takara V2 version as well. I can't believe Takara originally thinks Megatron would not sell, after all he is the main decepticon character. Now I'm wondering who will design Megatron V2.

if i was takara and i saw everyone online talking about and preordering apollyon, i'd announce mp-25 be megatron too lol. who knows though with takara? myabe they think hasbro asia's gold mp-05 will stave off megatron hunger. ps..it won't lol

Let me see if I can find my Baron Von Joy next time I'm back at my parent's house. I remember not liking it a whole lot, so it's probably not in horrible shape. It might be a while until I'm back again, but if I can find it, I can send it to you for super cheap.

Got yourself a deal. I really like that 'alt mode...

Take this with a grain of salt, but RobotKingdom is claiming MP-25 will be Megatron.

if true that's great news!

I assume the rumors are true

someone care to translate that? or is that the thing that was seen by someone who said that, its not even written in good japanese so there might be some error in it anyway?

If this is true then there are two options:

1. MP-25 is a tank then I have to buy the X-Transbot one.... and MP-25

2. If he is a gun I I will buy the Takara version.

^_^

Nah, you guys are missing a third option. That the Takara MP-25 could be a gun, and could suck.

If they make it a tank it's not the megatron people want for G1. And a copout. Not that it wouldn't be cool, but that mould needs to be made first.

I hope these releases will push Takara to expand the production process a bit, but probably not.

X-trans won't ship until late Dec or Early Jan so there is plenty of time to cancel.

"rumour came from someone who wrote a note to takara in broken japanese basically saying stop watching porn and make mp25 megatron."

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Also, I love how everyone just saw "wall of japanese MP-25 MEGATRON more japanese" and went "OMP MP-25 IS MEGATRON!1111 OMFP"

OMP, of course, is short for "Oh My Primus!"

Ah, so it was cleared up, good. I saw that on TFW earlier but I don't have an account so I didn't correct them. That thing is written in terrible Japanese grammar, and uses a font that Chinese sites use as standard, not Japanese, and actually it doesn't look as if the main text (which is nonsensical anyway) has anything to do with Megatron, or even Transformers. They've just stuck the words "Megatron" randomly in the text. In fact, the words "MP25Megatron" actually appear right in the MIDDLE OF ANOTHER WORD. That just does not happen with Google Translate. This looks like a deliberate attempt to troll the Western fandom and trick them into thinking "OMG MP Megs!!" as JB0 said (mission accomplished, btw). The question is, why? If I had to guess, somebody does not want the X-Transbots figure to do very well. :/

TL;DR version -- It all smells real bad.

Segatron does nothing for me. Apollyon, or something like it, is what I'm waiting for.

As for those Mospeada Gobots models shown a couple pages back, I had the Leader-1. For an 80's model, it was awesome, but should have had die-cast joints for the hips. The hip pegs were plastic, and mine broke pretty easily. The gear and the shoulder mounts, however, were die-cast. I was blown away by the amount of articulation the thing had, plus hinged flight controls, retracting gear with gear doors, lots of little opening panels/doors, and perfect transformation to boot. Even by today's standards, it's a pretty damned cool model.

Hey, what version of Classics Prime is that? I have the Henkei edition, but it only has chrome on the bumper and grill, not on the legs. It looks interesting!

Welp! Recently joined the dark side...

Usual QC issues such as minor paint oversprays, less tight (not really loose) knees, spelling issues.

Despite all that, they're not that bad. The official versions have their own QC issues, fwiw.

Still waiting for an official re-issue from Takara or the rumored official US release, but I ain't paying the current scalper-pricing.

Gunbuster -- Ah, I see. Thanks!

Treatment -- Yeah, I heard those KO's are mostly indistinguishable from the real thing...

Wouldn't this concept work better as a fan-made comic?

I'm glad that my concerns regarding the tone of the show were actually addressed in the FAQ -- the question about the lightheartedness and weak characterizations and plots, etc. However, I do not find the answer satsfactory.

G1 was what it is because of the way those types of TV shows were produced in the first place. We were kids and lapped it up. Now we've grown up and we do not expect to be talked down to... That is a genuine concern for the producers of this entertainment based on the oldschool IP. Look at Transformers Prime. Some fans loved it, some said it was poorly written, etc.. You have to admit that TF Prime is overall a much-better written and produced show than the original series, looking objectively, because there has been an evolution in the way these shows are made and an expansion in the target audience, demanding more consistency and maturity.

To continue the G1 story and themes in the way of the original series is to invite a heavy criticism from people who have aged 30 years and expect better for what they pay good money for. On the other hand, inserting a more mature tone will take it further from the source material and you might as well be reading the books they've already put out. Not to mention the fact that Season 2 and the Movie will be difficult to tie anyway simply because there is already a tonal difference between the two -- I believe the movie was targeted towards a slightly older audience than the series.

Anyway, I'm interested to see if this pans out, but I'm highly doubtful it can work. I mean, I haven't even talked about how it's also a totally different medium!

It's an interesting idea but nah. I'd rather IDW keep making semi original content instead of being shackled to a 30 year old show that had a few great episodes but mostly crap ones.

Kinda this.

I mean, if IDW can do ReGeneration One, they could in theory some series that fill in the G1 cartoon gaps. I'm not opposed to them doing that if they have extra resources for it, but More than Meets the Eye has been so ridiculously good that I prefer what they're doing now.

I actually went out of my way to specifically say "the series" and not the movie. You'll notice I mention that the movie was targeted to an older audience anyway. I really like the movie. OK, that's an understatement, I adore it as a totally guilty pleasure. Why is it not out on Blu-Ray??

Depends what you mean by "IDW can do Regeneration One". They did it, certainly, but I didn't hear many positive reviews of it. I'm certainly not opposed to anything G1, I just don't expect much... :/

Renato - what do you mean? Of course the '86 movie is on bluray!

It is my most guiltiest of my nerd pleasures - that movie man - I love it. Love the gravitas, the music, the designs - urgh, SO good. The bluray just makes that extra delicious - so crisp, so vivid.

And now my 4.5yo spits out quotes from it all the time :D

Never forget the first time he booted me in the guts as we were play-fighting, and he coldy says;

How do you feel mighty Megatron? *boot again*

corrected. :p

i'm going to say the series is what made the movie. without creating the invincible beloved characters, no one would've walked out of the theater and cried when the autobots got torn apart.

I don't understand you guys saying the movie is a guilty pleasure. That's one of the greatest works of cinematography ever.

*nod*

Even Star Wars totally ripped off Transformers: The Movie.

I mean they have the resources to make it without adversely affecting their two main series, More Than Meets the Eye and Robots in Disguise. I never bothered to read it, and if they made a G1 cartoon series, I probably wouldn't read that, either.

As big a part of my childhood as Transformers was, and as much as the G1 characters are the definitive versions of said characters to me, the plain fact is that what IDW's been doing has been much more interesting for a long time (minus a few missteps, like the abrupt ending to Furman's run).
