Mommar Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 It would be better if the guy was laying on his back with his hands out like he was trying to catch/stop it. Quote
the white drew carey Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 I'm still not buying into the mecha designs, but I am hopeful that GdT will tell a fun and engrossing story. My wife may veto this one just because she wants Hellboy 3 so badly, but maybe we can find a babysitter when it comes out. Syngyne Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 They just posted the Wondercon footage to their Facebook page. To quote Pam Poovey, holy shitsnacks. Quote
Mr March Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 Was just about to post this. Astounding footage. Quote
Twoducks Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 My God... And the cyclopean bases and logistics... And that thing used in the last couple of seconds... My God... If this movie doesn't make more than TF I'm loosing faith in humanity. Quote
mechaninac Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 That last trailer hit so many geek spots on so many levels, it's like a nerdvana... I have no idea if this will even remotely resemble a good movie, but it is guaranteed to be one hell of a ride, a total assault on all senses. Quote

DuelGundam2099 Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 There are only three kaiju and two are in the same fight scene. Plus it isn't that different from the first trailer, I'm kind of iffy as to how much action will be in the movie. Quote
Greyryder Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 Head plugs in, so that the giant robot can rocket punch the giant monsters? The Mazinger is strong with this one. Quote

Considering that this is the footage they showed before the first official trailer was released, I'm not surprised. Quote
BeyondTheGrave Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 still not excited like everyone else is for this. Quote

mecha2241 Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 Very excited now if only the jaegers combine. Gattai! They have to save something for the sequel... Quote
Ivan Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 In the latest trailer, did the guy say "protect a city of two million" and then they showed Hong Kong? Quote
areaseven Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 In the latest trailer, did the guy say "protect a city of two million" and then they showed Hong Kong? Yeah, which side of the island were they referring to? Quote
Murphy Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 I don't know if I can watch it without laughing knowing that Charlie day is playing a Dr/Scientist, knowing his logic on his well known show. http://youtu.be/QH5Xb02MTVw Quote
Ivan Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 Yeah, which side of the island were they referring to? Good point, haha! The camera was pointing at Hong Kong island, which by itself may have a population of 2 million (Hong Kong as a whole is a city of 7+ million). I really hope the movie doesn't make silly mistakes like this. Quote
Graham Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 Nah, still not digging it. Still don't like the mecha designs or the silly two person control set up. The rest of the trailer didn't do much for me either. And I love giant robots and grew up on Maxinger Z, Great Mazinger and Combattler V. Graham Quote
Marzan Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 I might not like the designs but I think this is going to be one entertaining movie. Quote
Vepariga Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 Still no Aussie robot slammin. Are they gonna bring him out in the end and tear crap up. looks awesome, cant wait to see it. even if they do spam the US one abit. Quote

Duke Togo Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 The more I see of this movie, the more skeptical I become. I want it to be good, though. Quote
VF5SS Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 Suddenly Ron Perlman showing up and not knowing he's in a movie! Quote
Mommar Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 I think it looks pretty exciting. Hopefully the story isn't banal. I think the more footage of the Jaegers I see in the film the better they look. Even Gipsy Danger, which I haven't cared for in promotional pics, looks better within the context of the film. Quote

I think it's in the trailer for a bit... the one that has a chest full of cannons/launchers/tubes of doom. I think it looks pretty exciting. Hopefully the story isn't banal. I think the more footage of the Jaegers I see in the film the better they look. Even Gipsy Danger, which I haven't cared for in promotional pics, looks better within the context of the film. I'm not expecting anything more than a modernized 70s monster movie story out of it. As long as it succeeds on that level I'll be happy. Edited April 30, 2013 by Syngyne Quote

Archer Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 My excitement levels for this movie just keep going up. Needless to say, I hope this doesn't become a 'splosion fest like many other giant mech movies.... Quote
mechaninac Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 To be honest, I'm not anticipating much from this movie, other than impressive SFX of Giant Robot on Kaiju action. I expect an insipid story with a tissue-paper thin plot, two dimensional characters, bad (over)acting, and the prerequisite romantic schmaltz thrown in, with silly mech control interface choreography and nausea inducing camera work on some of the action sequences for good measure. And that line "Go Big or Go Extinct" reminds me of "Size Matters" from the excruciatingly bad Mathew Broderick Godzilla movie... the history of this genre is not very encouraging. But this is from GDT, so maybe I'll be pleasently surprised. Aesthetic sendibilities regarding the mechanical designs aside, it sure looks badass. Quote
