Mommar Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 If you look closely, that Jaeger has 3 arms... I couldn't remember which one had the three arms. Quote
slaginpit Posted May 23, 2013 Posted May 23, 2013 So what about the one Jaeger that has three pilots? Three lobes? It obviously serves plot, but at least it's original (as far as I'm aware) for a Mech story. Nope Quote
DuelGundam2099 Posted May 23, 2013 Posted May 23, 2013 Posting Mazinkaiser SKL? I am giving you a rep point just for that. Quote
Keith Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 The SKL pilots didn't actually pilot at teh same time, they just swapped positions. Pacific Rim definately seems closer to Godannar to me, complete with the twin drive. Quote

Keith Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 but it lacks all the boob jiggle. That would void it as being similar to SKL too. Quote
DuelGundam2099 Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 (edited) Which is why SKL is so superi- No, wait, Godannar has mimetic beasts. Frick. Anyway, kaiju names in case nobody has seen them yet: http://pacificrim.wikia.com/wiki/Kaiju It would be awesome if kaiju did destroy the pesky humans. Edited June 1, 2013 by DuelGundam2099 Quote
Uxi Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 The merging thing is interesting, though will probably be as moviecliche as the clear bubble faceplates but I think I can enjoy the giant robot action and hopefully ignore all that. Quote

ron5864 Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 Honestly, I never really paid attention to this movie until recently. With a movie title "Pacific Rim", I originally thought it was a film about some WWII conflict over the Pacific Ocean, like Pearl Harbor. They should just change the title to Evangelion Gundam......to attract more viewers. Quote
raptormesh Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 Goddam Super Taisen Robot Warfare Zeta, if you want to be true to Japanese robot shows vernacular. Quote
Greyryder Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 C'mon guys, this is clearly Mazinger Lagann. In the U.S. they'll change the name to Tranzor Lagann. Quote
Keith Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 I don't even know where you're getting Gurren Lagann from. Quote
Greyryder Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 Just using the name to attract viewers. It's all marketing, y'know? Quote

raptormesh Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 I felt like I'd rather watch it dubbed in Japanese with english subs hahaha, very fitting for the genre. Quote

I get the feeling the Japanese are going to go dubtacular on this and throw a bunch of injokes and mecha references that aren't actually in the english version. Quote

wm cheng Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 I just saw it with the crew screening in Toronto and it's AWESOME! There's some obvious dialogue which will help out the 11-12yr olds in the audience. I hope it will blow their minds out of the water as Star Wars did for me. It's pretty fantastic and the action doesn't let up. It really does show that ILM can actually do robots properly (I wasn't sure after the Bayformers) and someone actually understands mass, weight and inertia. I gotta go back and see it in IMAX now in a theatre full of real audience. Guillermo was so kind and gracious that he even showed up to thank us and introduce the film. This was pretty much the top of my career so far - so much fun. Please everyone go see it and I can't wait to hear what you guys think of it. (look for Macross references in the Conn Pod interiors!) raptormesh Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Er... we kinda get it on July 12. He's in Japan mate. wmcheng I can't wait to see it in full glorious IMAX! Quote

I don't know yet, I'm getting it for sure though, but no one has approached me about any of my artwork or drawings for the book (however, all of my artwork is the property of the Producers and studio, so they don't really need to talk to me at all).
