Valkyrie addict Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 Quick question, the v2 VF-1's with the new crotch system have the fix for the breaking shoulder hinge (smooth pins), right? did this finally stop the breakage? I just want to know because I'll be ordering soon this replacement parts and some of my VF-1's have not arrived yet so I can order the right amount to try and get everything on time. Quote
VF5SS Posted March 29, 2013 Author Posted March 29, 2013 I dunno I had it happen to my new crotched VT-1 so I just went ahead and replaced the shoulders on my five Valkyries and then did another for a friend. Quote
CoreyD Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 Use this list to determine which VF1's are prone to shoulder breaking and which are safe: http://anymoon.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/Yamato-V2-Table-2.jpg Quote
SabrWolf Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 Sorry, I know I'm showing up a little late to the party, but can I still pick a couple of sets of these shoulders? I tried VF5SS link to Shapeways, but I'm not seeing them anymore..... Quote
xrentonx Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 It's still there, man. Go nuts: http://www.shapeways.com/model/463232/kanzen-henkei-1-60-scale-fighter-variable-hinge.html?li=productBox-search Quote
VF5SS Posted March 31, 2013 Author Posted March 31, 2013 Yeah sometimes it gets shoved onto page 2 of my shop. The page numbers are at the bottom. Quote

Ordering these and the 19 bracket. Thank you, Again! Quote
Valkyrie addict Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 Got mine, great stuff!! thanks VF5SS But...the ball joint is too slim, had to add a small rubber piece around half the ball joint to get proper friction. Quote
VF5SS Posted May 17, 2013 Author Posted May 17, 2013 Yeah it happens sometimes because of the margin of error they put into their printing process. Quote
Ahab Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 I noticed its available in polished. Does this impact the hinge performance at all? Which do you all prefer? Thanks Quote
dapro Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 (edited) I totally forgot to order this. I still need it for my vf-1j. I been having it in the plane mode for so long. Oh yea, when does shapeway have those free shipping days? Edited May 17, 2013 by dapro Quote
cazzalora Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 I think that I will finally fix my three VF-1 thanks to shapeways. Quote
Sandman Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 Don't forget to thank the guy who designed them so shapeways could print it out. Quote
jodokast Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 Oh man, was boxing up my v2's and the arm hinge on my 1D broke mid transformation. Is this still available? is Arcadia issuing hinges like Yamato did? Has any one else designed similar hinges with pins in them? Quote
spanner Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 I have a VF-1A Hikaru boxed away cos it has screwed shoulders so I might grab another set of these soon.. might also replace the crappy shoulders on my VF-1J GBP while im at it! Quote
mickyg Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 I think shapeways is still your best bet for these. Veef's in particular. I've got no idea how you'd go color matching it to a 1D though. Quote
spanner Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 im not gonna bother color matching or painting the sets I'll get.. they come white which is close enough! Quote

Metal Man Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 First post yay =} Just managed to find a Reasonably priced VT-1 considering that they now sell for over 1000 anywhere I look (Also Canadian here, our economy hurts), and while it's still shipping, I was wondering if there was any way to dye the replacements in that VT-1 cream colour. I also have no idea how to dye things... Quote

Vi-RS Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 There's no way to keep the paint intact since it's a hinge, and to match the color from dye is a step harder. Go with gunmetal or something similar if you have to print them from shapeway. Quote
Cowboy17 Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 (edited) I just started the valk surgery to install these and to my horror, the shapeways shoulders hole for the pin is so tiny. the original pin won't fit! Does someone have some advice on how to get around this? Replacement pins, or somehow drilling out the shoulder pinhole? I have a 1s sitting here in pieces and its making me nervous. I would have never have attempted this had I known the pin wasn't going to fit. Edit: ok, i just forced the pins through and they cleared out the hole. So that's that. However, it raises another question. These new hinges don't fold down quite flat like the ones on the toy do. I don't know if that's normal, and the arms dont seem to be drooping down in fighter, but i wonder if it will cause stress on the locking points between the legs and backpack. Edited October 26, 2016 by Cowboy17 Quote
no3Ljm Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 I think it should lay out flat from what I remember seeing in the shoulder replacement videos from CollectionDX. Hope it helps out. Quote
Cowboy17 Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 then it seems like the latest round of veef's shoulders are being misprinted by shapeways, then. does anyone know of what sort of modification we might be able to do to make them lay flat? Maybe veef has some insight there.... Quote
Kelsain Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 *Watches with interest* My new 1S from Duymon has a slight crack. I know I'll have to replace them soon, but I want to get a couple other prints lined up first, to save on shipping... Quote
