tundrayeti Posted March 20, 2012 Author Posted March 20, 2012 Quick Update, Fixed the front canopy windows. Quote
neptunesurvey Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 That adjustment makes it look better. Quote
tundrayeti Posted March 23, 2012 Author Posted March 23, 2012 Another update. Started on the cockpit, finally got the middle hump just about righ, need to make a small adjustment and it's done. I just need to add seats to the cockpit. I may try to add more details, but there are no reference pics as far as the cockpit controls go, so I may leave it flat like it is, maybe add a few details, and just try decals. This is real close to being done, i'm going to try to finish up the small details this weekend, maybe by saturday night so I can send this thing out for printing soon. oh and don't be too brutal on my stand in pilot. He's just a placeholder. Quote
neptunesurvey Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 Are you also going to design it so that the hatches can be opened, like to the cargo hold? Quote
tundrayeti Posted March 27, 2012 Author Posted March 27, 2012 Okay another quick update. Got the hinges on the landing bay doors, and I also added the nose stabilizers. Finally got the middle hump the way I want it, Just a few more details and this baby will be ready to go!. I'm hoping to send it to the printers in 10 days so keep watching! Quote
Ahab Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 It may be a little tough on the wallet, but a 1/60 mom's kitchen would look great along side a couple 1/60 escort valks...Just sayin', Quote
tundrayeti Posted March 27, 2012 Author Posted March 27, 2012 Well let's see what happens. Scaling to 1/60 is very possible. I would like to get this one out of the way first and we will see where it goes. Quote
Reïvaj Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 It keeps getting better and better, tundrayeti Quote
MechTech Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 I'm thinking 3D drawing and printing are the way to go! Keep up the great work! It looks just about perfect. - MT Quote
tundrayeti Posted March 28, 2012 Author Posted March 28, 2012 It keeps getting better and better, tundrayeti I'm thinking 3D drawing and printing are the way to go! Keep up the great work! It looks just about perfect. - MT Could not ask for higher praise! Thanks guys. should have another update this evening Quote
tundrayeti Posted March 29, 2012 Author Posted March 29, 2012 And here is another quick update. finally got the entryway, the door mechanics, and the ladder added. I had to take a little libery with the door, as there was no way the design in the lineart would have been functional. (whispers.....Anime Magic ) Anyway this design will let the door swing out and the it will slide on track in the door and pivot on posts in the swing arm. I left the bottom cover off so the internals can be seen. Added a little door detail and here we have it! Enjoy, more to come soon!! Quote
Grayson72 Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 wow, can you design it so it hovers too, so cool dude! Quote
coronadlux Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 Very cool so far. Love the cockpit details and all too. Quote
tundrayeti Posted March 31, 2012 Author Posted March 31, 2012 Okay and here's another update. Fixed the rear stabilizers, and added some more details on the door. It looks like I will have her ready to go in a couple days. just a few more things to do and this one will be off to the printers. Enjoy! Quote
tundrayeti Posted April 1, 2012 Author Posted April 1, 2012 (edited) One more update. At this point she is pretty much done, I just have to add a couple antennaes and a few more panel lines and it's done. So fire away, because in a few days this baby will be off to the printers! Added some controls and seats to the cockpit, and more detail to the landing bay doors. finished up the landing gear modifications so they will be able to just snap in. neptunesurvey Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 Looking good. Will you be adding the yokes to the console? Quote
tundrayeti Posted April 2, 2012 Author Posted April 2, 2012 Hmmm. I was thinking more along the line of stick vs yoke. This plane seems more to me like an s-3 Viking. Might be interesting to see what others think. I will have the final update tonight as far as the rest of the aircraft goes. Adding a stick would be easiest as well. What do you guys think? Quote
MechTech Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 She looks great! If I still built in that scale I'd have to get one! Thanks for keeping us posted. - MT Quote
tundrayeti Posted April 3, 2012 Author Posted April 3, 2012 Thanks again everyone. I was hoping for an update tonight, compter wasnt cooperating. Definately tomorrow and it will be completely done. I will leave it up for comments till friday and then its off to the printers! Quote
Berttt Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 Is there any art for the flight deck? Or is it a clean slate? At any rate its looking good. Though it looks like CAD + 3D printing takes about as long as hand making a master. Both are things I cannot do yet but it is intersting to see the differences in approach between you and the Captain. Berttt Quote
tundrayeti Posted April 4, 2012 Author Posted April 4, 2012 (edited) Well i can not knock the captains results. His skills are without question. The biggest thing i can say that is the difference is that so far i have used any material, so any mistakes, and corrections are dealt with before any money is spent. So far all i have is time. The other thing i like is that i can post progress, and get feedback before the master is even produced. I worked my way through college as a manual machinist soi have nothing but respect for the Captains skills. Also this is a very complex model, so it did take a little longer, but all i have to do to convert it to another scale is simple math Edited April 4, 2012 by tundrayeti Quote
Grayson72 Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 (edited) Cool, my dad owns a tool and die shop, many many Bridgeport Mills, and some really cool CNC machines. Edited April 4, 2012 by Grayson72 Quote
I can assure you that if you do it at scale 1/60 in Argentina several people are going to ask you and if you do papercraft for download will be a hit Quote
MILKAUTICO Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 Se que es mucho pedir pero todos los model kit de macross deberian ser para descargar It is a tall order but all of Macross model kit should be available for download Quote
tundrayeti Posted April 5, 2012 Author Posted April 5, 2012 And Here she is the Mom's kitchen in all her finished glory!. Finally done! I will leave these up for 24 hours before I send them off to be printed. I did some shots of the tailhook and the other details, added the stick and antennaes, more panel lines, etc. So have at it guys, in about 2 weeks she will be a reality!. Oh and I also did a 1:1 printing and took a picture with a 1/72 scale ground crewman from hasegawa just to make sure. It looks good to me, but i always want other opinions. ENJOY!!! Quote
tundrayeti Posted April 6, 2012 Author Posted April 6, 2012 Well I see a lot of views, and no negative feedback so This model is officially in the print stage. I will start option 2 here most likely after Wonderfest when things have quieted down. Thanks again for all the support guys, That's the reason why MW is the best! Now another thing that everyone has been waiting for. The Price. Price for this kit will be $110, plus shipping I won't start taking any pre-orders till the masters are in hand and money will be collected after the run is complete. And as always if you can't get this right away, let me know, I always can make more. Que bueno que esta te puedo asegurar que si lo haces en escala 1/60 en argentina varias personas te lo van a pedir y si lo hacer en papercraft para descargar va hacer un exito Amazing, I can assure you that if you do it at scale 1/60 in Argentina several people are going to ask you and if you do papercraft for download will be a hit As I said previously, 1/60 is possible, we will have to see how this run goes. I do believe there is a papercraft kit that is downloadable for this aircraft somewhere. If not I may have it. Quote
