Kurisama Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 Hey everyone! Here is my first attempt at building and painting one of many Macross kits to completion with the addition of customizing the elbow, knee and ankle joints. It's my first serious painting attempt, so be kind! Will upload in-progress build shots later. Quote
Reïvaj Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 Fantastic job, Kurisama! I really love that colour scheme.Congratulations and thanks for sharing! Quote
pfunk Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 wow, 1st attempt is a slam dunk,, nice work and 2nd kudos on the color Quote
Kurisama Posted December 2, 2011 Author Posted December 2, 2011 Thanks fellas! It's not perfect but I'm happy with how it turned out. I have 2 more kits of this model and I now know what to do and what not to do. I plan on doing a UN Spacey themed paint scheme (grays + kite logo?) and a purple/lavender scheme which will be a custom Queadluun Nona with parts sculpted in Maya and printed out at shapeways. Also thanks to Jinnai for providing helpful advice when I'd call him at random hours during the day Quote
Kurisama Posted December 2, 2011 Author Posted December 2, 2011 I used Kotobukiya 'MSG' joints. Talking of which, any tips on getting paint to stick? Mine are starting to chip. They've got a coat of primer, paint and 2 coats of clear. Each with a full day in the Queensland sun to dry... Quote
charger69 Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 (edited) I remember that some members here have quite a knowledge about which paint types adhere with which type of plastics and so on. I'm sure they will help you Edited December 2, 2011 by charger69 Quote

Kurisama Posted December 2, 2011 Author Posted December 2, 2011 Thanks! I'm assuming the joints are ABS... Will try standing the joints on the next kit. Quote
