renegadeleader1 Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 (edited) Fark! I think yer right.Good god! They hired one of the Japanese Yamato girls to promote the series in the U.S in badly formed broken english... Who apparently can't count either as they announced the 26 episode series wth be released on 6 dvds with 4 episodes each. 6X4=24??? What about the other two? Dobber Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 (edited) English subs only, no dub......pass. I'll just stick with my import bluray's. I could put up with hearing "Argo" if it was a dub but won't with subs that read "Argo" when the characters will be clearly saying "Yamato." Chris Edited December 3, 2013 by Dobber Quote
Dynaman Posted December 3, 2013 Author Posted December 3, 2013 That was a horrible bit of marketing but I'll be picking these up. If the price is not outlandish. Quote
Dynaman Posted December 6, 2013 Author Posted December 6, 2013 The Star Blazers website has more information. Prices are 34.99 for DVD and 44.99 for Blu-Ray for the first disc. Disc 1-5 have 4 episodes and disc 6 will have 6 episodes. Quote

Disc 1-5 have 4 episodes and disc 6 will have 6 episodes. That's half price off the Japanese discs. I'll buy these, definitely. Quote
taksraven Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 Hopefully they use the English subs off the Japanese discs. It will be painful to watch if everything is changed to "Argo" and "Wildstar". Quote
TehPW Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 (edited) will all of Deslar's intros include "Des-Loc DeslocDesloc! Des-Loc DeslocDesloc! Des-Loc DeslocDesloc!"? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7bCr6sMLDvM Edited December 6, 2013 by TehPW Quote

I mean it's not like the Japanese audio is going to be changed just to match the subs. Still, for that price, I'll live with it if that's what ends up happening. i hope not, though. To me it'd make the most sense to just use the existing subs. People who know the show and are buying the discs will understand the references. Edited December 7, 2013 by Drad Quote
taksraven Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 Their release schedule really sucks too. No excuse to take so long to get it ALL out..... This “original” version, it is planned for release in 6 volumes, with Vol. 1 (episodes 1 -4) scheduled out on 2/27/2014Following that, the succeeding volumes will be released as follows:Volume 2 in April 2014Volume 3 in June 2014Volume 4 in August 2014Volume 5 in October 2014Volume 6 in December 2014(include 6 episodes.Premium version.Price is higher than other DVD and Blu-ray) Quote
Dangard Ace Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 Pro: The Bluray and DVD are the same as the Japanese. It's called the Yamato!!(not Argo) Con: I do sexy modeling for magazine and TV/DVD. Wearing sexy cosplay. Not naked. BOOOO!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8HMJA7oytj8&feature=share&list=PLqBf4cYMeq2cH4kJbjBlH-PiUl0aq6Oyi Quote
TehPW Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 Sure, its corny now but back when this aired on local TV in 1979-1980, that sh*t was awesome. The american voice actor so made his version of Deslar so... i guess almost ambigious in his sexuality. Way different from the run-of-the-mill bad guys on TV then. Charismatic i guess is the word for it. But definately something sexual/coolness... Quote
Tochiro Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 Well, it's official - the upcoming movie is neither a sequel nor a prequel. No other details at tho time though. Quote
Dobber Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 (edited) Latest up date is out on ourstarblazers.com There are some great shots of the upcoming 1/500 Yamato. The detail is incredible and it looks like it will have the full array of hull marking decals! Also, we finally get to see all 3 open hangar bays! Beltane70 Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 I'm quite surprised at the price tag. I was expecting it to be higher! Quote
wm cheng Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 I wished the GX-64 looked like that! (how long would the 1/500 model be?) Quote
Dobber Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 I wished the GX-64 looked like that! (how long would the 1/500 model be?) 666mm or about 26.25inches occurring to ourstarblazers.com. Chris Quote
UN Spacy Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 In totally preferring the 1/500 over the new SOC which isn't offering that many new features compared to the GX-57. ...and at 7,000 yen 1/500 vs a 21,000 yen 1/625 I think the clear winner is the plamo. Quote
Vifam7 Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 666mm or about 26.25inches occurring to ourstarblazers.com. Chris That's pretty darn big! Hard to choose between this new 1/500 kit, the previous 1/500 kit, and the GX-64 chogokin. Quote
CePeAi Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 Interested in the new 1/500 kit, I build the older 1/500 kit twice. Great value for your money and easy to be lit. The 1/350 kit is a bit beyond my current wallets ability but one day ..... Quote
Kyp Durron Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 No thanks, would rather have the SoC version, it has lights and even though much more expensive, will take up MUCH LESS limited space.-Kyp Quote
Dobber Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 That delicious box art. BEAUTIFUL! I am so excited for this kit! I haven't looked forward to kit this much in a long time! Chris Quote
wm cheng Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 The details are wonderful... hard call. I have the 1/350 Bandai kit and it was my holy grail retirement project (one of many!) - but the surface scribed detail on this seems to beat it - I know its a different design (old school). If I went ahead with this, I may never get around to the 1/350. Quote
peter Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 That delicious box art. Wow, looks worth it just for the box art. And it looks like the kit finally matches the art in respect to details. Quote
wm cheng Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 (edited) I wonder if there will be any aftermarket Photo-etched sets for it? Now if it was the movie version I'd jump all over it!!! Edited December 17, 2013 by wm cheng Quote
Dobber Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 I wonder if there will be any aftermarket Photo-etched sets for it? Now if it was the movie version I'd jump all over it!!! I always wondered where people were getting photo-etching for the radars on Yamato, would really like that too. Also agree there NEEDS to be a kit of the movie Yamato. I love that custom that was made of it. Chris Quote
