tundrayeti Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 Hello all. Well I have been commissioned by one of our members to build the ULTIMATE Macross Hangar in 1/60 scale. He asked me to post his design and build progress here on the forums for all to see. This will probably be my best hangar to date, complete with moving gantry cranes, lights, and movable hangar doors. This hangar will be huge with it's dimensions at 12" high and 12" deep and 2 1/2 feet wide! I'll leave it up to the member whether or not to reveal himself, but here are some of his preliminary design pics. This build is actually in the initial stages of construction. The base is assembled, and the lights are being installed. Took a little time off to recover from surgery, hence the delay in posting this, but please bring on all comments and question! Enjoy! Quote
Ignacio Ocamica Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 Wow!! It's going to be a great project. What's your choice of materials for this custom? Quote
tundrayeti Posted October 28, 2011 Author Posted October 28, 2011 I use PVC sheets for all my hangar dioramas. Several members have purchased my hangar bay kits and everyone has been very pleased. Check out some of my other threads to check out previous work. I will be showcasing quite a few of my other products that i offer. I will also be using several of my resin casted greebles as well as other services i offer. I sell CNC engraved panels that are relatively inexpensive. But everyone seems to like the custom hangars. This is the first one that i have been commissioned for to completely finish with paint and lighting. If anyone is interested in getting something custom made, or would like more info on my standard items, please PM me. Quote
DarrinG Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 Looking forward to getting this T-Yeti! Looking good. Post some photos whenever you get time of the detail on the walls, or just anything you think looks cool... Quote
tundrayeti Posted November 7, 2011 Author Posted November 7, 2011 Well here are some shots of the initial framework and the hangar doors. I added the Vf-1a cannon fodder for reference. Also, there are a couple of floor panels as well. Finally, the battery box that is "greeblized", to look like part of the hangar. They still need some cleanup, but you will all get the idea. I also have channels cut in the back support walls to run the wires. The slots in the floor and back wall are for the gantry cranes to run in. They will have metal strips glued in them to allow power to the gantry cranes, which will be lighted as well. Still cranking out parts, doing some more detail work and I should have something to show in a few days. Quote
505thAirborne Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 The old V.1 1/60 is getting some love! Looks good so far. Quote

tundrayeti Posted November 16, 2011 Author Posted November 16, 2011 Any updates? Need to feed the addiction lol Well here's a snack to feed the addiction! I have attached pics of the doorway that I will be using on this Hangar. There will be 2 personnel doors and these will also have lights installed in them. The material is translucent and I will be polishing the paint off the control on the left to let the light through. The soda can tab is for scale but you can see this has a lot of detail! I have also included some of the greebles I will be using for this project. These are also available for sale if anyone wants them to add detail to a hangar etc... PM me if interested. Thanks for the shout out Miriya, and I'm glad you like it! Quote
Reïvaj Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 Who's this fellow? Yeah, I was wondering that too... Quote
miriya Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 One of my friends is an amazing modeler and he has won competitions and such. Anyway he customized this 1/60 Yamato Destroid Defender for me almost 2 years ago. I let him just do his thing and he came up with the "pain killa" theme.... Quote
ron5864 Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 That's a really good custom defender Miriya! Quote
miriya Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 Thanks Ron! And Yeti, I really love the new personnel doors. Could I get a few of those to add to my set? Quote
tundrayeti Posted November 17, 2011 Author Posted November 17, 2011 Of Course! I'll PM you with the details. These are scaled for 1/60, But I can re-size them for any scale. Just to elaborate these doorways will be going over the door areas that will be etched and milled out. I have attached some pictures illustrating the areas they will be going over. And yes there will be a catwalk for the door that's up a little higher. I'll have some more soon trying to finish up some other stuff this weekend and shipping some Military Vehicle sets as well but I'll have more pics soon! Quote
tundrayeti Posted November 20, 2011 Author Posted November 20, 2011 Thanks for all the compliments everyone. Well got the side panel done, here's a few close ups so everyone can see the door detail, oh yeah and I threw in a pic of the UN SPACY kite. ENJOY! Quote
Ignacio Ocamica Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 Wow, looking really awesome!!! Quote
DarrinG Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 How soon before the 1/60 vehicles, gun-pod carrier and deck crew?? Looking great... Quote
tundrayeti Posted November 21, 2011 Author Posted November 21, 2011 How soon before the 1/60 vehicles, gun-pod carrier and deck crew?? Looking great... Well I haven't really gotten a lot of interest in the 1/60 scale vehicles. But EXO and I have discussed a few possibilities. I'm trying to get my orders list cleared a bit more before I dive into that. It never seems to get smaller....... . Get the word out there to all the 1/60 guys and if i get some more interest, I'll get it done! Quote
DarrinG Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 A picture of all your 1/60 accessories in this hanger would be worth 1,000 words though Quote
tundrayeti Posted December 13, 2011 Author Posted December 13, 2011 Okay I have been a little busy, but there will be an update on this thread in the next few days. Keep posted Quote
tundrayeti Posted January 10, 2012 Author Posted January 10, 2012 Okay, this project is way overdue for an update. Been trying to finish up the ground support vehicle project, and a few other thing to get ready for the next project on the drawing board. I've mostly done some painting, and testing led's and developing new greebles and details. So here are some pics of the painted floor sections with the LED's lit. I have also included pics of the new greebles that will house the hangar bay "lights". please bring on the criticism and compliments! All these detail greebles are avaliable for sale so anyone who is interested, please send me a PM. Quote
Mechamaniac Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 Are these going to be made available to the common (un-talented) man? Quote
tundrayeti Posted January 13, 2012 Author Posted January 13, 2012 Are these going to be made available to the common (un-talented) man? Absolutely! any of the greebles, and detail parts or even hangars are available to anyone who is interested. Just PM me and I can give you details. I work closely with anyone who commissions me to do work for them. There are so many options, so the best thing to do is contact me and see what can happen! I can do anything from just making the parts and letting the customer assemble and paint to a project like this that is fully assembled, painted, and has lights installed. Just make note that time is always a factor. As you can see from Miriya and a few others, they have been really happy with the results. I don't just do Macross stuff, here are some pics of my Battlestar Galactica Hangar bay that I released at last year's Wonderfest. Well it's actually 2 separate kits that can be put together to make a bigger diorama. not my best paint job, but i was strapped for time! painted it a few days before the show. It still turned some heads. Enjoy! Quote
