The confusion is a good example of what I am talking about. I'm sure people will want to know which one to order so that they can get the 30th anniversary goodies. It's what I am doing. I've written off Newtype Ace as something that is just not worth it to me. However, in light of these supplements I will be ordering vol. 8, 9, and most likely vol. 10 in order to get all 3 booklets. The reason why Newtype Ace is still numbered vs. numbered monthly is because it's still in the "Zoukan" phase. Basically it hasn't been given a 100% backing as a full-fledged publication. Young Ace started off this way before it was given a green light around issue 8 or 9. Sadly, I can't subscribe to this magazine through the Kinokuniyas in the states for this reason, so I need to place special orders monthly or call about three weeks after its release to place one on hold. I was all gung ho in the beginning, but I quickly changed my tune after getting the first one. I was sucking it up and ordering Macross Ace and I eventually completed Macross Chronicle, but this is just too much money for me in the US for what you get. A lot of nice images in there. 005 focuses on the SDF-1 - concept sketches, orthogonal views and line art. Some color pics from DYRL too.
