I loved the anime/manga.....I am interested how they will pull it off for the LA series/movie. I wonder what the OVA be. A re-telling, or maybe centered around another character? Quote

NERV Posted October 12, 2004 Posted October 12, 2004 oh yea, what episode had the pilot that spoke english? i just watched the whole series and i dont rmeber that, unless i skipped an episode by accident How was the dubbing and it's story plot? i saw a fansub so i didnt see the dub, and i tihnk the story is great, and personally i think the end is very depressing, unless everyone is interperting it different from me... SPOILER ALERT: it was my interpertation that being the last person on earth drove him insane, chise wasnt with him he just thought she was, because you see him pat her on the head then it shows reality and its dark and baron and his hand is just in the air, and i wouldnt say its so much the end of the series thats depressing, but what you know what will happen after, he's obviously insane so he wont be able to properly interact with whatever is actually left on earth, if he does happen to find any source fo water it wont be fresh, becaus they showed the world as being covered in ash, so iwithin 2 weeks he would die from starvation/dehydration, but he would still be in his own insane world so he would feel the pain of dying and probably not realize why he is in such pain (because he's probly imagined eating in his mind) and the human race would end with him dying in a state of pain of confusion. Graham Posted December 16, 2004 Posted December 16, 2004 I watched this earlier this year on the recommendation of a friend. Not the sort of anime I usually watch (no giant robots or tentical sex ), but it was enjoyable enough, if a bit depressing. And just to confirm what Sebastian said, the English subtitles on the HK DVD set are pretty good. Graham Quote

Given that everbody but Shuji died in the first one, I guess this new OVA either has to be a prequel or a side story set during the original story. Graham Quote

wolfx Posted January 2, 2005 Posted January 2, 2005 http://www.saikano.net/ova/promo/index.html A new 30 second trailer shows the protagonist, probably someone in charge of Chise's maintenance/deployment. Looks interesting. Quote
wolfx Posted August 11, 2005 Posted August 11, 2005 Just saw the new Saikano OVA. It was pretty cool. As initially suspected, the ova takes place along side the original events of the TV series. It follows the story of Mizuki, the predecessor to Chise as Japan's Ultimate Weapon. Mizuki was the test-bed for Chise and has reached her limits as a weapon. She can't grow as a weapon anymore and she is no longer used in sorties due to her limitations. But Chise lacks the will to fight whereas she wants to fight, and Mizuki is frustrated because of this. The OVA was pretty cool that it answers some of the questions that most Saikano fans ask during the TV/manga series. Why Chise? Why the heck...omgwtfbbq missiles are spawning from her back!! Ok I lie...they didn't really explain that but you ge the idea. Mizuki can also read Chise's thoughts, so you'll recognise key dialogues of Chise which happened in the TV series and what was really happening elsewhere to Lt. Tetsu and back in HQ etc. Pretty cool. Only thing that bugged me bout the OVA was the OST. The OST felt pretty half-baked. It lacked the oomph of the original. Well I was kinda disappointed that they didn't play Hoshi No Hate as Chise descended on her foes. Pretty good watch. Quote
Effect Posted August 12, 2005 Posted August 12, 2005 Wow this sounds like one despressing sereis. . I still might check it out in time. What about the new OVA? How does that end? Quote
wolfx Posted August 12, 2005 Posted August 12, 2005 OVA episode 1 just got fan subbed. I believe its only a 2 episode OVA. Quote
wolfx Posted November 30, 2005 Posted November 30, 2005 The OVA was a disappointment, even for a side story. Doesn't really add any new story into the TV series. But anyhooo....the Saikano Live Action Movie trailer's out. Chise's not cute enought. http://www.toei-anim.co.jp/movie/2006_saik...6saikano_w.html Quote
Zentrandude Posted December 1, 2005 Posted December 1, 2005 Does the ova tell wheres "anon enemy" is comming from? Never could figure out how they are still able to attack chise's hometown after she said the outside world is in ruins. Also the last part of the world being dust after the town got destroyed in a differnt way bugged me. man this thread is almost 3 years old, sure time goes by. Quote
wolfx Posted December 1, 2005 Posted December 1, 2005 Unfortunately not many saikano fans here it seems. The live action special effects look kinda cheesy, but the trailer showed the final "Shuji alone" scene and I was like....woah...that was done pretty well. ABout those unknown enemies...they were probably on their way to that last bastion of Japan (Hokkaido was it?) when their homebase got blown up by Chise. Chise did mention that those planes coming had nowhere to return to because she incinerated them, so they're all just gonna come to Hokkaido and let loose whatever they ahve left. But i feel it doesn't matter who they were....Americans, Chinese, Russians....the world was at some kinda world war and no one could do anything to stop it. Scary cause this might come true when someone launches the 1s missile...... Quote
wolfx Posted December 1, 2005 Posted December 1, 2005 Another new manga expanding on Saikano. Taken from ANN Shin Takahashi has announced on his official website that a short manga based on Saikano, Saishu Heiki Kanojo Another World, will be published in issue 9 of Big Comic Spirit, on sale January 30. There is no information on the site regarding the story Quote
Zentrandude Posted December 1, 2005 Posted December 1, 2005 Watching the last ep of the series is not a good thing in winter. it gets spooky being all white in the ep and looking outside your window and its all white from the snow and clouds. I wonder hes the last one on the planet but if theres anyone in a space station like the ISS. Either way its bit of a sucky place to be after all that happened. Quote
