TehPW Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 First thoughts: Ew. Robowreck themed...... 2nd thoughts: HOLY F&*%ing sweatly testes, even the poor subject matter aside, those are GOOD ART. *waves hands* I command thee: You will do pics of Battletech! Maybe Star Wars or Star Trek... Derp. Seriously, those pics were very cool, regardless of thier radioactivity.... especially the splash-on pic. I can swallow my distaste of Robotech to appreciate the art (and the effort for that art)... Quote
TheLoneWolf Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 Very very nice artwork, keep up the great work! And a belated welcome to MW, the finest troll sanctuary on the Internet Quote
EXO Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 Looks great. But Why is Snookie getting into a Qrau? LOL... JK... Quote

I can swallow my distaste of Robotech to appreciate the art (and the effort for that art)... Thanks for the props! Yeah I get the Robowreck vs Pure Macross thing. Without getting into the politics of it too much, I was just brought up in the Robotech vein, though I can appreciate both. Just don't read the descriptions, and make your own up (they are fluff anyway but I do it to put the work into a context). As far as the Scratch One piece I just wanted to play around with a new scheme for the Alpha, and always felt For the Robowreck side of the house that some of those burning questions could be answered...like what would Max's Ship look like. Very very nice artwork, keep up the great work! And a belated welcome to MW, the finest troll sanctuary on the Internet Thanks Lonewolf! Glad to be here and actually contributing. Looks great. But Why is Snookie getting into a Qrau? LOL... JK... ouch...I hate Snookie, but I see what you mean. My wife wears her hair like that, and neither of us is from Jersey (she does it with class). Just trying to modernize the the Mikimoto style a bit with going the way of kiddie porn, like he seems to have. I think his Character design peaked at DYRL and Flashback 2012...maybe Gundam 0080... Knight26 Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 (edited) Very nice work, look forward to seeing more. One minor crit though, the women seem in many shots to be a bit too conical in certain parts of their anatomy. That or the Macross has developed some new bra tech. TheElf Posted September 30, 2011 Author Posted September 30, 2011 Very nice work, look forward to seeing more. One minor crit though, the women seem in many shots to be a bit too conical in certain parts of their anatomy. That or the Macross has developed some new bra tech. Thanks! Interesting that you would see that about my cones...I try not to go the uber ridiculous route when it comes to the female anatomy. Particularly these days anime tends to over exaggerate the development of certain parts of the female figure while under developing everything else. Quote
Knight26 Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 (edited) Well in terms of size they are realistic and proportional for the most part, not rediculously huge. THey just all look like their are wearing those 1940/50's cone bras, bringing them to an unnatural point, instead of a curve. Edited September 30, 2011 by Knight26 Quote
grapetang Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 Always nice to see more art. I like the way you draw the faces! Keep up the great work! Quote

TheElf Posted October 22, 2011 Author Posted October 22, 2011 (edited) Just out of cursiosity, what is the tolerance around here for Southern Cross subject matter, and more umm risque works? I have several other images that fall into these categories, but I don't want to push the limits of decorum on this forum. And if they aren't welcome, can I post a link to my Deviant Art page for those interested? Edited October 22, 2011 by TheElf Quote
frothymug Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 If you have to ask yourself "Is this appropriate?", it probably isn't. Quote
anime52k8 Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 If you have to ask yourself "Is this appropriate?", it probably isn't. but at the same time some of us don't care and demand you show us now that you've peaked our interest. Post some links! Quote
TheElf Posted October 22, 2011 Author Posted October 22, 2011 but at the same time some of us don't care and demand you show us now that you've peaked our interest. Post some links! So a link to my DA page is cool? If so I'll link that. Admins can take it down if necessary, as long as it is understood I asked first... @ Frothymug: As far as "inappropriate" I suppose it would depend on whether this is PG, PG-13, or an R rated website. The one image I would put in the PG-13 category, but it has some suggestive themes. Other more conservative types might classify it as R. here is the link. Lemme know. oh and feel free to comment on my DA page. I've found lots of great Macross Fanart and such here. Lots to look at. http://leelf.deviantart.com/ Quote
frothymug Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 I understand that it's a subjective matter. What I mean is that if it makes you have to stop and think about it, it probably is controversial enough. I'm sure we all agree that the site is PG-13 style, but there are some who don't really care, as we see from anime52k8. Quote
chillyche Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 During my childhood, they hadn't invented PG-13 yet. It's either PG or it's G, as far as I'm concerned. And to be fair, the PG-13 was invented mostly because they were making stuff that was a little scary for kids, not risque. I don't know why I'm bringing this up at all. Actually, come to think about it, teenagers today say and do things that make us 18+ folk blush... maybe the entire ratings system needs to be revised... Quote
EXO Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 You can't see mature content on deviant art anyway. You have to sign up. I don't have an account so I'm unable to see it. So if someone that is not mature enough is viewing your NSFW content that's up to deviant art. On the other hand I just uploaded some statues in my MW gallery that are NSFW but marked the thread as such. It's not distasteful and part of the custom. http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=35766 Quote

Are you saying Mikimoto does a "kiddie porn" style? I don't really get that at all, but I guess that's just a matter of opinion. You've done some really good pics though. I wouldn't say they are in Mikimoto style at all. They do have more of a 40s-50s retro look, or more of a Betty Page pin up style than anything. The coloring is nice, except the green Star Trek alien "Snookie" girl (couldn't resist). Meltran women have normal skin color. If anything, maybe a bit pale from not getting any sun. Quote

I exaggerate when I say kiddie porn, but I think he has regressed. Like I said before his character design peaked in the late 80's to mid 90's. His Macross the First work isn't my favorite. He makes minmei look like a pre-teen. As far as my own mikimoto "style", I really only meant the facial features. I REALLY try to stay faithful to his style in the face the rest is more my own style and I tend to favor normal looking female physiques, not the typical prepubescent look that seems to be in favor in modern anime... What makes you say that Meltran women only have normal skin color? Why wouldn't they be subject to the same skin tones as the Zentran? Is it because we have never seen one on screen, or because of some other source? I used Breetai's skin tone on the Pod ace. I originally did have a pale "millia" tone, but decided to go the route of artistic license and do something new...oh well, can't please everyone ; ) Edited October 24, 2011 by TheElf Quote

TheElf Posted October 26, 2011 Author Posted October 26, 2011 Veffidas. Either way, artistic license ftw. What does this post mean? what is ftw? Quote
EXO Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 lol. My sister asked me what FTW was and I was like "you don't know what FTW is? GTFO! ... Don't ask me what GTFO is..." Quote
Talos Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 Haha, sorry about that. I was trying to think of a way to show I support artistic license, but not sound pandering. FTW seemed the easiest way. As for the rest of the post, Veffidas has a very Zentradi-style grey hue to her skin and is the only Meltran off the top of my head who does. She shows that Meltrans aren't limited there. I think some of Chlore's fleet members in Fleet of the Strongest Women were greyish too, but very pale. Quote
