bluemax151 Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 my milia figure has not broken or anything but I found it to be sticky. I thought it was a strange claim so I checked mine and was surprised that it was "sweating". I haven't had any of my toys yellow though except for the banpresto valk lol I believe the "sweat" is the plasticizers leaching out? Quote
Graham Posted October 19, 2011 Author Posted October 19, 2011 Possibly the sub-tropical warm and humid (at least in spring and summer) environment in Hong Kong has something to do with it(?). Graham Quote
Shaorin Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 (edited) just got my YF-19 1/60v.I this morning, it's had all the mods done to improve it's overall fit in FIGHTER, the gunpod mounting correction and the main landing gear position and all. i've put it through over a half-dozen transformations so far, with no hint of stress or fracturing on those key areas. in fact, the overall integrity of the plastic on the problem zones look very good, to my eye. it could well be all dependent on the general atmosphere of the region the faulty copies of this toy are kept, or, perhaps, all these problematic examples are from a singular batch of bad plastic among several batches of the same, all used throughout the first production run? Shaorin Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 (edited) JUST TO UPDATE; i've put far more transformations now, than i can even begin to estimate, on this baby, and still no signs anywhere whatsoever that anything on it is about to Disintegrate/Explode/Crumble/what have you. in fact, i'e dismantled the thing already, and tightened up some of the looser joints through my Elec. tape method, and now this Valk is surprisingly tight, considering it's notoriety for general overall looseness. i'd say, according to what i've heard regarding them, that this old 1st Ed. has got to be at least as nice and tight now as the BoP and DN repaints... Shaorin Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 she's still holding up beautifully, transformation after transformation... Quote
BeyondTheGrave Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 Well, there goes my plans on buying a 19 anytime soon. Now that I will probably wait for a new 19 altogether, Was thinking about getting a 19 but I'll pass. I'll wait for v.3 i guess. Quote
shuji Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 my YF-19 v.2 joint very loose even i bought new...right leg joining very loose..hand when hold the gun also will fall down..in fighter mode not in the line to fit it..even this yf-19 is beautiful but the problem that i have very dis pointed me.. VF-19 Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 Just did a look-see at my YF-19, and there's cracking in one of the upper arms present, underneath the slider. I've barely touched this thing over the years... Quote
ErikElvis Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 My YF-19 will likely never be transformed and I'm not gonna look for problems. The only angle I like it from is top fighter anyway. Quote
sil80jdm Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 At least now we are starting to see die cast parts on the new vf-17s. Hopefully Yamato just Took everything into account over the years and will continue using die cast joints Quote
Graham Posted January 9, 2012 Author Posted January 9, 2012 Looking forward to a new and improved YF-19, as besides the loosness and cracking problems, it's really showing its age design-wise next to the beautiful VF-19Kai and VF-19S. Graham Quote
Fly4victory Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 Casting the v2 19 to the island of unloved toys? What a sad state of affairs. I still like my V1 YF-19 and VF-19A. Too bad all my valks have been boxed up for the last two years. Quote

mcpaz Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 Can we take this as an "unofficial" confirmation of a revised YF19 in the near future Graham? mmmm... don't think so... nothin' is leaked on his avatar... yet. Maybe Yamato is waitin' on the 20th mac+ anniversary, which will happen in 2 years... Who knows. Anyway, I would sooooo much to get a v3 (or even v4) YF-19... I think it's one of the most preferred mechas in the macross universe in this forum. Please, Yamato! Quote
Priss! Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 (edited) Yesterday I took out the box my 1/60 YF-19 (v1) Looks what happened when y tried to transform it... The entire arm fall down... It's broken.. I dont know how, or Why... I wonder if any one of the good members of this forum could make avalaible at shapeways some recast for this part.. I know there's a lot of people with this problem.. and now that Yamato is... dead.. a V3 option is unreal. so we'll need to fix ours valks.. I put a lot of superglue on the piece but I really think that solution will not last long. Edited April 4, 2013 by Priss! Quote
Froy Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 Exactly the same happened to mine. Its been in fighter mode for years and I'm afraid to even look a it. Maybe a Shapeways Guru can make some replacements. Quote
Valkyrie addict Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 same happened to me a few months ago. Had to disassemble, sand and glue, in the process loss one of the arm screws and use the screw of the broken nose hinge to hold the arm together, just a mess. Really hoping Arcadia continues Yamato's Macross line. Quote
Mommar Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 That sucks. I suppose the other question is was it an original or was it one of the remakes? I've left my Double Nuts in Battroid because it's the only mode I can stand it in and so far the arms haven't self-destructed but then I don't tend to manipulate it at all. Perhaps if I tried to move the arms they would dissolve as well. Quote
VF5SS Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 I will try to replicate that part but I'm not sure how to disassemble the arm. Quote
cyde01 Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 damn this thread's got me worried now. i've got a 1st issue 1/60 yf-19 that i pulled out recently from storage, been sitting in a box in fighter mode for years. transformed it for the first time a few days ago and it's floppy as heck, can't even stand and hold a pose in battroid. could this be related somehow? Quote
VF5SS Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 (edited) Oh ok the pin in there just slides out easily. Ok guys as soon as I get the shoulder off I'm gonna start working on a shapeways replacement part. My poor old Anniversary YF-19 (which hasn't fallen apart) is the test subject for all these shenanigans. Edited April 4, 2013 by VF5SS Quote
dapro Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 hmmm plastic falls apart from aging? It is kind of worrisome... Quote
jvmacross Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 You guys with your fancy pant, new wave, perfect transformation and lineart accuracy valks...... Quote
Duymon Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 This only affects 1st release yf-19's right? So the new box ones, the weathered and the double-nuts and Bird of Prey are just fine, right? Quote
VF5SS Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 After a couple hours of teeth gnashing I've made great progress! Quote
Chronocidal Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 I'll be buying a set of these once they go live, my old YF-19 has had limp arms since I got it, and the shoulders were both shattered out of the box. I still want to make a new cockpit section and hips that work like the VF-19s as well, but that's a bit larger undertaking. Quote
raptormesh Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 Don't think it affects all of the first edition, mine is still fine. The joints aren't as tight as I would like them to be but the arms could still hold the gun chest high in the firing position. Quote
VF5SS Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 Hell yeah. Only a few hours and I already got something workable. Go me! I'm putting together another order of test products with the Legioss hands (again...) so I can throw this in there too. Quote
Valkyrie addict Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 Awesome, will definitely be getting this. Quote
VF-19 Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 I'll buy two! Heck, I'll buy 4! My YF-19's arm joints are cracked, and I haven't touched it in years... Quote
Ignacio Ocamica Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 Have the first issue YF-19 and the shoulders are still intact. It's great that VF5SS is provinding us with replacements!! Quote

Last month while moving around my display valks all of them seemed ok Quote
VF5SS Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 I ordered up the parts so fingers crossed that they print fine. Quote
