Mommar Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 I kinda like the gloss on that. The Q-Rau is armor after all. Quote
Kurisama Posted August 18, 2012 Author Posted August 18, 2012 FYI, the Rau is looking sexy. Pics soon. Quote
Chronocidal Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 Yeah, I don't know if I'd want to change the gloss coat, it looks so pretty that way. Quote
Kurisama Posted August 21, 2012 Author Posted August 21, 2012 Update time! Been back at work and what not - so progress on this has been slow... Everything you see here is at different stages of production, from only primed and needing more sanding (hubs), to partially clear coated, or decals or not clear coated... ANYWAYS, enjoy - I can see the light at the end of the tunnel! Quote
Benson13 Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 Definitely gonna have to start hunting for another Rau. Quote
claude grant Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 And I think that light is going to blind the mess outta some folk!! You dangerous, son! Quote
Ignacio Ocamica Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 Looking awesome!!! It's going to be THE Q-Rau custom! Quote

caslon Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 Well done, kurisama!! You have my full support on your great stuff up there! Trying to sell some of my own collection to raise fund for these;) Quote
Kurisama Posted August 27, 2012 Author Posted August 27, 2012 Just waiting to find a place in Brisbane to buy Mr.Hobby UV Super Clear Coat Flat... the Tamiya clear sprays available to me are either gloss or flat with a warning not to use on decals or stickers - the previous tamiya i used was a different TS number, and was ok on decals - but no one sells it any more.... Jinnai has provided me with a site he uses to import sprays - or i can ebay? Anyways... almost there! Quote
claude grant Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 Almost...almost...the anticipation is killing me ! Quote
Zinjo Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 Boss you gotta post hires pix when this darling is finished. It is coming along very very nicely.... Quote
valhary Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 I'm undecided so I hope pics to make a decision Quote
MechTech Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 That looks awesome Kurisama! Nice job! Makes me want to pull out the old Imai kit! - MT Quote
Benson13 Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 The only difference between ordinary and extraordinary is that little "extra". This thing is amazing. Quote
Kurisama Posted August 30, 2012 Author Posted August 30, 2012 GENTLEMEN... FAP FORMATION! Couldn't resist a test fit - please ignore the missing fingers, missing visor and varying gloss/matte finishes - will be smoothed over with a few coats of flat clear in the end - just wanted to seal the decals in. What do you guys reckon? Also - thank you all really, for the comments - this project feels like a real drag and easily shits me off as I'm an inexperienced painter/decalist/overall hobby guy. This is only my second custom! Quote
Gian Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 Freaking sweet! You did an awesome work!!! Can wait to see it completely finished Quote
Kurisama Posted August 30, 2012 Author Posted August 30, 2012 Thanks fellas! Here is a re-post of the pic I just posted in another thread (I think another MW member thought it was the 1/144 kit); Quote
Benson13 Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 I haven't seen anything this naughty since the Houston 500. High-five buddy! Quote
Kurisama Posted August 30, 2012 Author Posted August 30, 2012 I DON'T KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS - HIGH FIVE! *ass-slap* Quote
nautilus Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 I haven't seen anything this naughty since the Houston 500. High-five buddy! I havn't seen anything this naughty since Max and Millia's wedding night. Death by SNU SNU! Quote
Kelsain Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 (edited) Dude! Yep, gonna have to do this, but I'll have to order in increments. 2 questions: A) it's hard to tell looking at the renders: what exactly is different about the shoulder missile packs? B) have you had a chance to write down the disassembly instructions? Ooh, what about decal sheets? Too awesome, Kurisama! (null) Edited August 30, 2012 by Kelsain Quote
Kurisama Posted August 30, 2012 Author Posted August 30, 2012 In answer to your questions Kelsain; A) The DYRL missile pack has the DYRL missile placement and TV hubs and the TV missile pack has both TV missile placement and hubs. B) No, but I plan to photograph and do a step by step of dissambly of the torso - but the arms, legs and backpack are all pretty straight-forward and don't require step-by-steps, no? Decal sheets used are some from the 1/100 Glaug kit, a couple from the 1/144 Nousjadeul Ger kit and the rest were from the 1/144 Queadluun kit - about 1 and a half sheets (I have 3 kits). And thanks! Glad you dig! I made the ball joints in the fingers a little smaller than they should be to allow for paint and clear coats - but even with 4 or 5 coats of nail varnish, they're still a little too loose for my liking - keep this in mind, but if ppl want - I can make them bigger.
