thegunny Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 I see in pic 2 the Navy can't afford missiles any more so they shoot American flags at incoming ordnance Quote
Knight26 Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 Ah the stink'n lincoln, been a while since I was aboard her. To bad I can't see the pictures at work, get any nice shots of the RAM launcher sponsons? Quote

caslon Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 Gorgeous!! Nimitz-class aircraft carrier!! I miss the F-14 Tomcat still...probably the most beautiful military aircraft ever!! Quote
big F Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Nice shots there plenty of reference material. Been a long time since I've been up close and personal to active military metal. Quote
ae_productions Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 Such a marel of engineering. My grandfather was a grunt. He'd joke with his airforce buddies that he couldn't believe some of "those metal contraptions" could fly! Love the Fa-18. That plane is badass. It's startling that such a large craft has such a claustrophobic cockpit! Never been on board a Navy vessel, but been close a few times for work. The "awe" factor never goes away. They're a sight to behold. Those pictures are awe-inspiring, but I bet they don't hold a candle to the real thing. Thanks for sharing! Quote
MechTech Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 Thanks EXO, that's really awesome! The elevator movies give me a good idea as to how fast they should move for one of my next projects. Where/when did you go? - MT Quote
EXO Posted August 9, 2011 Author Posted August 9, 2011 The USS AL was in San Pedro (Los Angeles Port) July 28 weekend. Got there pretty early for a 2 hour wait. When the shuttle got back to the place where we got picked up there must hve been a line that had a wait that was 4-6 hours long. The freeway exit was backed up too. Was really lucky to get aboard it. Quote
Garou Kuroryuu Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 It's been like 20 years now that I was on board the Constellation (CV-64), but these pictures brought back great memories from that day. Lucky you! Quote
