BeyondTheGrave Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 Watch at least the next couple more. It's like they had to get the fanservice out of their system in the first one, so if that's what turned you off, you needn't worry. In terms of story and visuals, I think it's doing quite well. Plus, if you're a fan of the original, then seeing the returning characters is pretty awesome. I don't like the main two main characters. Super mousey and fam (ADHD annoying). Also the whole sky pirate thing is pretty weak. Quote
ron5864 Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 Just finished Princess Resurrection. A decent good show and entertaining. The setup is similar to another show They Are My Noble Masters. Poor Hiro gets tossed around a lot by the other girls in the show. At least his sister and Sherwood-hime really cares for him. Quote
Archer Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 Law of Ueki. I don't know why, but I like it a lot... Quote
Marzan Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 Gungrave. Great stuff. Can't believe it took me this long to get round to watching it. Quote
Castel Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 Finally got the occasion to watch Gundam 0079, the very first show. And well, can't say that i really enjoyed it a lot. It didn't age well at all and god, Amuro must be one of the less likeable main character in anime history. Quote
Shaorin Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 (edited) just finished this three-hour motion picture up with my little sister recently. great stuff, with breathtaking Animation to die for (at least by today's standards) yet, somehow, the whole thing was ultimately unsatisfying to me. probably because of the fact that this is but a small part of the entire Suzumiya tapestry, which spans, like nearly, or over 10 novels by now. also probably due to the fact that Mikuru Asahina is my favorite chara in the series, and one of my most favorite Anime Girl Charas of all time, and yet it seems like she is constantly irritatingly given the boot to the head in the series as the useless/weak-willed character that has feelings for the main protagonist, yet is forever doomed to distancing herself from him. it just ain't amusing to me anymore, guys, and it never really ever was to begin with... perhaps i am old-fashioned. perhaps, i'm looking for the wrong things in this series, but i rather feel that this VERY LONG Anime movie could have been better executed as the entirety of the of the complete Suzumiya saga, skillfully condensed down into an amazing three-hour motion picture, and not feel at all like the content of several half-hour episodes, lavishly Animated, and strung together into a movie-length feature. Again, i'm most likely looking for all the wrong things here. perhaps i'd rather the Suzumiya series be just another tired old romantic drama, rather than some Anime X-FILES for brainiac conspiracy theorists. this sweet little Angel♥ deserves far better, AFAIC... Ah man....guess I'll have to hunt and see if I can find it. I don't know how, but the movie flew right under my radar. I'll have to pick up sometime soon. The series was a welcome surprise and I absolutely loved it! If the movie is more of the same or better, I'm all in! Quote

Do make sure you get the BD or a high resolution version on a nice screen. This film is eye candy of the highest order and the level of detail is awesome even for a film. Finished watching Gungrave. An underrated series if I've seen one. And the last episode is one of the most moving endings I've seen to a series in any medium. Quote

Ever since I got Sword of the Stranger on BD when it first came out, I haven't looked back to DVD (except in the few instances when I wanted a title and it hasn't and is unlikely to ever come out on BD, ie. Utena). Quote

ron5864 Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Currently watching Zombie Loan. While the concept of the story is interesting, the action seems a bit light so far. Nothing intense. It has that dark comedy element to it....like Black Cat. Quote
Ignacio Ocamica Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 It's time to rewatch SDF Macross for me Quote
JELEINEN Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Just finished Hoshi wo Ou Kodomo (AKA Children who Chase Lost Voices from Deep Below) this afternoon and I enjoyed it very much. It is Shinkai channeling Miyazaki, but it's the more mature Miyazaki of Mononoke Hime and Sen to Chihiro as opposed to his more recent films (which are still good. but don't have a lot of meat to them). I definitely feel I need to see it again, which will be a good excuse to have some friends over for a group viewing. Quote
aerocombatpilot Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 Just started watching Guilty Crown and it looks pretty cool. The openning song is AWESOME and I love the character designs!!! I take it all back, after 8 episodes this is SOME OLE B&*$#!!!!! Quote
Archer Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 Wut is Haruhi Suzumiya about? I've heard a lot about said series (even a tamashii figure O_O ), but I have yet to comprehend what it's all about. Online synopsis stuff doesn't really help outline why it's so awesome either... Quote
Keith Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 No one can tell you what Haruhi is about, it is something you must experience for yourself. Quote
Major Focker Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 i second that. been hearing about haruhi for years. no idea what the fuss was about. thought it was just one of those school/slice of life shows. chanced upon it on animax and sat through an episode thinking that it might be like K-On (which i enjoyed, unexpectedly i might add). i was so wrong. RogueTrooper Posted December 4, 2011 Posted December 4, 2011 Fang of the Sun Dougram, a 75 episode series chocked full of mecha action and polictics, lots of polictics so far. Quote
GU-11 Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 (edited) I only caught the second season of Haruhi, and well, I can't say I've become a fan. Just couldn't get into it. I also watched Tekken - Blood Vengeance recently [wonder if this counts as an anime]. If anything, I found it a lot more entertaining than RE - Degeneration. The story was rather pointless, even for a Tekken plot. Added nothing to the established universe of Tekken, and didn't really set anything up or explain any of the plot holes in the Tekken 6 game. That said, the fights scenes are top class, and the CGI is drool-worthy [to me, at least.] While the story isn't particularly good, it isn't bad either. On the bright side, it doesn't get in the way of the fights. Xiaoyu and Alisa both play their parts well as protag and otaku fodder respectively. Alisa has this saccharine cuteness and childlike innocence about her that just makes it hard for you not to like her. That is, until her attack mode is activated and she goes Freaky Jason on you with a pair of built-in chainsaws. As for Xiaoyu, she's not nearly as obsessed with Jin this time around, which makes her less annoying as she usually is in the games. Panda also makes an appearance here too, and adds to the comic relief. The English dub isn't as bad as I thought, surprisingly. Got some nice cameos here as well. All in all, its worth the watch..in a strictly eye candy, Micheal Bay film kind of way. Edited December 5, 2011 by GU-11 Quote
Keith Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 Watching the second season of Haruhi without seeing the first, is like only seeing Jedi without seeing ANH or Empire, in other words, that makes no sense whatsoever! Quote
Marzan Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 Have watched the first episode of Baccano after several recommendations. I'm very confused. There seems to be several storylines. I guess they are going to intersect at some point but I'm thinking that it's the kind of show I'll have to watch twice to really 'get'. Quote

GU-11 Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 Watching the second season of Haruhi without seeing the first, is like only seeing Jedi without seeing ANH or Empire, in other words, that makes no sense whatsoever! LOL, true! Actually, I got the gist of the story, about Haruhi possessing the ability to shape reality and all that. Thing is, the individual episodes kind of meandered, and I wasn't exactly crazy about the characters. But it wasn't like I had a choice. I had missed the first season when my local cable TV aired it, so I decided to give the second season a try and see what it was all about. I don't hate it by any means, and it was somewhat enjoyable, but just not really my cup of tea. The Disappearance of Haruhi was pretty good as a standalone show, though. Quote

Yeah I'm already up to episode 4 and things are beginning to shape up a bit. Good show. Very surprised about how graphic some of the more violent scenes (not a bad thing, just didn't expect it). JELEINEN Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 Fang of the Sun Dougram, a 75 episode series chocked full of mecha action and polictics, lots of polictics so far. I've been watching this off and on myself (I'm almost half way through) and am really enjoying it. The politics aren't particularly deep, but handled better than most other shows. Right now, the main character's brother-in-law is turning into one of my favorites. Quote
ron5864 Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 After watching Karau:Phantom Memories, I have to recommend it. The story takes place in the year 2100. It is about a corrupted government unit chasing after Karau and her younger twin sister, Christmas who both have supernatural abilities. The setting changes a lot from the Moon base, the large urban cityscape, and to the Swiss countryside. There are some cool looking mecha that the GPO government forces uses. It is a good cat-and-mouse chase type of show with a heart. I like how the characters evolved over the course of the show that gives them depth. Ok...continuing with Gundam AGE and Soul Eaters. Quote
Marzan Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 Done with Baccano. Great series. Highly recommendable. Quote
