blackconvoy_D01 Posted March 25, 2019 Posted March 25, 2019 On a Dragon Ball Super and Kai rewatch/ watch currently. I was hoping NGE would be on Netflix in April but moved to June. I've never watched it and was looking forward to it sooner. Quote

Marzan Posted April 8, 2019 Posted April 8, 2019 New season is not really too impressive so far. Granted, the heavey hitters like Attack on Titan 3 and OPM 2 haven't started yet. Most interesting so far has been Demon Slayer on Saturdays. Really fluid animation, nice looking art and the story seems promising enough. The Fruits Basket remake really took me back 15 years. Exactly the same, just with better animation. Quote
Big s Posted April 8, 2019 Posted April 8, 2019 I saw demon slayer episode 1 and really liked it. The zombie thing has been really popular lately. Quote
Hikaru Ichijo SL Posted April 8, 2019 Posted April 8, 2019 Fruits Basket is my favorite of this seasons new shows. Finished Index III and I am sad it is over it was just too short. Way too much missed and Misaka was missing compared to the books. Quote

kajnrig Posted April 10, 2019 Posted April 10, 2019 Who here have seen Shinkai's pre-Your Name works? He's been on my radar ever since Voices of a Distant Star, and his works have been hit or miss with me. Seems every other one is pretty good, with a mediocre one in between projects. Me, I tend to prefer his short stories. His feature-length films prior to Your Name have always been a bit too convoluted for their own good. Always beautiful to watch, though. Quote

Big s Posted April 13, 2019 Posted April 13, 2019 Is one punch season 2 streaming anywhere in the U.S. yet? I’ve been noticing reviews up already. Quote

fenrir72 Posted April 15, 2019 Posted April 15, 2019 Just got to see the BD Eva 3.3. The sound wuzz like cr@p! 1.1 and 2.2 had awesome sound. Quote
fenrir72 Posted April 15, 2019 Posted April 15, 2019 Concerning anime I prefer them if they were true to their roots and not turned PG from their original R. Fate Stay Night is a great franchise and all but its origins do come from an eroge source. Same with Valkyrie Romanze. If they made it like To love Ru with a little spiciness......... Quote
fenrir72 Posted April 15, 2019 Posted April 15, 2019 Ikkitousen's Epoch Extravaganza hasn't made any an appearance in the Ikki wiki. Only Western Wolves have some sort of acknowledgement. It's as if fans are purposely ignoring it? The former is kinda a let down in that it is two short, just 2 episode with kanu getting all the awesome hits against this weirdo who just loves stamping his signature via a glowing stone on his foe's breasts (the female ones that is). He brands the guys on their faces. Sonsaku lost her magatama which lead to an almost 3 year cliff hanger wait prior to Western wolves........... Quote

Fate/Stay Night isn't actually that racy. The first anime omitted one sex scene, rewrote a second one completely, omitted one bath scene, and added a few episodes of Sakura wearing a dominatrix outfit. Quote

JB0 Posted April 15, 2019 Posted April 15, 2019 So you're saying that broadcast anime needs to have explicit bangin' illustrated, in spite of broadcast guidelines explicitly prohibiting them from airing it? Because I honestly enumerated every "adult" scene in the original game, as well as all the racy content ADDED by the animation studio. (Also, both sex scenes in the Fate route are terribly written and incredibly unsexy, and the story is better for their omission.) Quote

Shame... you're missing out on some truly wonderful good-bad dialog like Emiya's frequent insistence that "people die when they are killed". Fate/stay night was a so-so series that tried to bundle a LOT of lore into not a lot of runtime. Unlimited Blade Works was better, IMO, if only for being slightly more action-focused and dramatic. Hard pass on everything the franchise has put out since, which seems to be mainly for the waifu crowd or that one knockoff of Shokugeki no Soma they had. Looking at this season's offerings, it feels a tad underwhelming to me. Apart from One Punch Man's second season and the Gundam: the Origin series, nothing's really catching my eye except Nobunaga Teacher's Young Bride. The Rising of the Shield Hero is the most interesting of the lot right now. I'm currently stuck playing catch-up on shows I didn't get the chance to finish yet like Lupin III Part V, The Morose Mononokean, and Domestic Girlfriend. Quote

That's fair. I feel like it is really good at the concept and outline stages, but Nasu isn't a great writer and desperately needed an editor. The /stay night animes are stuck because of it. And then there's the wall of stuff that just uses the name on something unrelated. Quote

Marzan Posted April 18, 2019 Posted April 18, 2019 Anyone watching Carole and Tuesday? The production values are insane and its pretty entertaining. It's also pretty interesting from a Macross perspective. A music centric show by Watanabe set in another planet (granted the depicition of Mars makes it indistinguishable from Earth). Quote
Hikaru Ichijo SL Posted April 18, 2019 Posted April 18, 2019 (edited) I am watching Hagure Yuusha no Estetica because i needed a anime that I could shut down my brain to watch. It also is not terrible. Edited April 18, 2019 by Hikaru Ichijo SL Quote
Lolicon Posted April 18, 2019 Posted April 18, 2019 I've read the Fate visual novel and found myself fast forwarding through the sex scenes. It's a porn where the plot is more interesting. The 2006 Fate/stay night TV series was terrible, thanks to ham-fisted efforts to try to cram three completely divergent storylines into one, result in an incomprehensible mess. Also, Studio Deen sucks. Emiya Shirou also sucks as a protagonist and human being. The Fate/Unlimited Blade Works anime was a lot better, focusing only on the UBW route. Shirou is also more interesting as an extension of Emiya Kiritsugu's story arc. But that requires having seen Fate Zero, which was decent. Ufotable simply did a way better job on the anime adaptations than Studio Deen. Quote

Marzan Posted April 22, 2019 Posted April 22, 2019 (edited) Fate Zero was a good watch but the rest were pretty boring IMO. One thing though is that Gilgamesh has to be the single most irritating and smug SOB I've seen. Dislike him with a passion! Just picked up the second season of One Punch Man. Is it just me or did the quality of art/animation take a nosedive? Really noticeable. I can see Madhouse is no longer doing it too. Edited April 22, 2019 by Marzan Quote
Vifam7 Posted April 22, 2019 Posted April 22, 2019 Pleasantly surpised that there are two baseball themed anime this season with Cinderella Nine and Mix. Of the two, Cinderella Nine has more of my attention as Mix is based on Adachi Mitsuru's manga series which I have been reading for the past 6 years. Quote

IF the story is good then I'll take a quality drop, just hoping they don't drop the ball completely. Quote

It's a real shame that Madhouse couldn't do it again. They did a great job with season 1. Quote

Yeah, that has been the biggest compliant about this season is the dip in animation quality, but if you start with MadHouse that was a high bar to set for the rest. Quote
