Other have already stated, it depends on why you liked the original Code Geass. Akito is very much a side story and an action based one at that. It does not have the depth that the original did.

For completion sake I would give it a watch as it takes place between season one and two of the original series. You'll understand why about half way through Akito and it's hammered in at the end.

As a concept I wouldn't mind seeing more side story series in the Geass world.

Anyone checked out Princess Principal? It's a revelation. At first I thought, yawn, just another anime of little girls playing at being spies, but it's actually remarkably good, with intrigue and suspense that I did not see coming.

Clannad never really did much for me. It feels like manipulative "cry porn" IMO.

As the resident tankery expert I'd thought I'd post this teaser for the upcoming first part of the six part Girls Und Panzer finale series. This one appears to have BC Freedom highschool in it. BCFHS represents mid-war France and was formed when two schools were forced to merge together BC(based on Vichy France) and Freedom(based on free france in exile) Highschool respectively. Neither faction much cares for or trusts the other and often ccountermand each other during matches.

Also started watching Knights & Magic which seems relatively light but entertaining.

Watched episode 16 of Clannad After Story and boy are my eyes red.  17 Hours later and I still cry just thinking about what happened.  I have never felt this bad after watching an anime and that includes the last episode of Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso.

Made in Abyss is seriously one of the best looking Tv shows in a while. Feels like you're watching a Ghibli movie.

Where you guys watching made in abyss?  I looked on CR, Funimation, Hulu, amazon. Not there. 

 

Oh it seems I can add "anime strike" to my amazon prime and watch it.  Not sure I want to add another pay service.

I'm in the same spot with anime strike, but my hesitation to "buy in" has allowed me to take a break from Amazon's new shows and catch up on other things I've missed.

The monsters look pretty strange with that stetic but... awesome world-building in only 4 episodes, I'm totally hooked to this show.

I just watched the first couple episodes and the designs/animation are very cool; cute story too. Will definitely keep watching!

Why do they need to remake Eureka 7? I think the series was already good--didn't care about the movies and the sequel.

It was good, but IMO it had a lot of episodes that didn't add to the story. It could have been just as good with half the episode count.

Agreed I'm enjoying both of these shows. Abyss looks fantastic; I hope they're able to keep up the animation quality throughout the entire season.

Yeah some parts are a bit much but that's par for the course with a lot of anime.

Finally finished my re-watch of Nadia Secret of Blue Water, Overall it was great to watch it again! Then I watched the movie... that was disappointing. 

The fan service between Nadia & Jean was classic!

Instead of remaking anime that was already good, how about making a good new anime. Not a lot of the newer shows are very interesting. 

I am still liking knights and magic. It's one of the best non sequel mecha shows recently. Not that there are many mecha anime these days.

There's a lot of fear from anime production committee's in messing up. That's why the majority of stuff is adaptations of manga or light novels, making sure there's an audience already out there for the product. Remakes have the same effect.

The LOGH remake worries me the most. How in the name of all that is holy do you top the masterpiece that Noboru Ishiguro created?
