Stampeed Valkyrie Posted February 25 Posted February 25 I caught up on Arifureta.. ugh I didn't even realize the 3rd season ended as it has no climax or resolution. Absolutely trash the entire 3rd season was a dumpster fire and killed the entire franchise IMO. Quote
Hikaru Ichijo SL Posted February 25 Posted February 25 Tying the knot with an Amagami sister was good today. I will say this until the show ends but Asahi is my favorite girl. She seems to be the most normal. Quote
Seto Kaiba Posted March 2 Posted March 2 This has been really polarizing simulcast season for me... I've found a few really good shows that I'm absolutely loving, but the rest of the shows I've picked up have steadily been trending towards "garbage". Blue Exorcist... eech... either I somehow forgot how bad the writing got in the original manga or the adaptation to anime really allowed the suck to flourish and bloom. They've now spent nine entire episodes on a flashback to the Blue Night, which have varied from painfully dull to unintentionally hilarious when they're all meant to be tense and dramatic. Evil flying babies, anyone? Honestly, the worst is any scene involving the twins mother Yuri Egin... she's the most frustrating character in the show by far, with her imbecilic naivete leading her to unwittingly shape the story's main villain (Satan) from nonsentience into a supremely malevolent monster. Still having a LOT of fun with I'm Getting Married to a Girl I Hate in My Class, OKITSURA, and I Want to Escape from Princess Lessons. My watch group started Ascendance of a Bookworm recently too... a nice touch since I recently finished the light novel. It's weird watching it and being able to pick out all of the foreshadowing going on now. That one's getting a new season next year that'll go into Part III (of V) of the light novel too, which should be wild. Quote
Hikaru Ichijo SL Posted March 2 Posted March 2 Dang, Solo Leveling was awesome yesterday. Finally Jinwoo got what his heart desired most. I actually cried during the episode. Quote
Dangard Ace Posted March 3 Posted March 3 Sentai Red had an …. Interesting cameo in the latest episode. Infinity Punch! Quote
kajnrig Posted Monday at 07:05 PM Posted Monday at 07:05 PM So I'm finally starting on Frieren after all the hype. I didn't realize it was an old-school 26 episodes long. I thought it would be the usual nowadays 12-14 episodes only. Did it release in two seasons? On Netflix it shows all 26 episodes as a single season. Quote
Hikaru Ichijo SL Posted Monday at 07:57 PM Posted Monday at 07:57 PM Headhunted to Another World: From Salaryman to Big Four! was good today. Ulmandra is my favorite character. Quote

Frieren was pretty good, not sure if they are going to do anymore but there is enough material to do at least another season. 22 minutes ago, Hikaru Ichijo SL said: Headhunted to Another World: From Salaryman to Big Four! was good today. I need multiple spinoff series starting with Flamme and her teacher (can’t remember her name) Quote
Hikaru Ichijo SL Posted Tuesday at 08:08 PM Posted Tuesday at 08:08 PM Tying the Knot with an Amagami Sister. Wow, Shirahi finally got what she wanted. Uryuu is screwed again. Quote
kajnrig Posted Wednesday at 07:47 AM Posted Wednesday at 07:47 AM Watched the first half of Frieren. I gotta say, I think it's been a bit overhyped. Through 14 episodes, it's... don't get me wrong, it's not bad. It's decent, which isn't the diminished praise it might seem like. It just doesn't hit me the way I think it seems to have hit a lot of people. A couple nitpicks: I hate the generic fantasy world. I hate how artificial the job classes feel. "I can't do antivenom magic because I'm a mage, not a monk--" Why? Why does that make a difference? You call yourself a magician, you study magic, you've spent a lifetime collecting magical spells. Why? I hate the in-fight commentary. I had hoped that the limited fights, being so infrequent, would be snappy and slick when they happened. Instead it's *do move**do countermove* "I see I underestimated you. You were hiding your skill level all along, blah blah blah, <padding out the runtime here>..." "Indeed, I knew you would do this and so I yap yap yap <padding out the runtime there>..." It reeeaaally dragged down the pace of that city-making-peace-with-demons sequence, especially when they started explaining to each other exactly the thing they just spent two episodes explaining to YOU, argh... I think I may have been spoiled by other stories that already dealt with similar subject matter. Love, mutual and unrequited, across time in 5 Centimeters Per Second. The slow but inevitable passage of time and opportunity in The Remains of the Day. Looking back on one's life in Millennium Actress. And so on. That last one especially, ugh, it never fails to pull at my heartstrings... I hope, now that characters seem to be established and roles filled, the second half of the season really starts going in interesting directions with all of them. Quote
Stampeed Valkyrie Posted Wednesday at 02:59 PM Posted Wednesday at 02:59 PM So keeping the ball rolling. I caught up on NEET Kunoichi to Nazeka Dousei Hajimemashita. This one consists of shorts, 2 eps for each full episode. The whole world premise is abit silly, basically an excuse for fanservice. Even as shorts it stretches at points with not enough content to fill even half episodes. It does fit the category for just something to watch without having to be deep. I'd give it a solid 5/10 at this point.. much worse out there this season. Also spent some time catching up on Class no Daikirai na Joshi to Kekkon suru Koto ni Natta. speaking of worse out there this season... I've mentioned this before but the primary love interest comes off as shallow and abit of a b*tch. She does warm upto the MC as the series progresses, but personally I still don't see any reason they ship together. But such is the way of JP romcoms.. Her friend is the better choice, and its telling from a characters integrity standpoint how she treats her friend. These last few episodes introduced Akane's little sister and that got creepy really fast. As of episode 9 I'd rate this 3/10. Guild no Uketsukejou desu ga, Zangyou wa Iya nanode Boss wo Solo Toubatsu.. aka Giramasu moving upwards this season.. this one is not bad, still nothing I would write home about but its better then the 2 I have listed above. Another one of those that don't require any real thought so light viewing. As the Mrs. says the cute Guild girls sell this one, it tries to take itself seriously with the OP, but then the ending hits and that is all out the window. 7/10 as of ep 9. Arafo Otoko No Isekai Tsuhan Seikatsu - been able to stay relatively current with this one. Much of what the MC does really does not make any sense but its entertaining. The whole Amazon/Temu premise in another world is interesting but pretty cheat. It has its funny, but also its annoyances as the whole harem trope is overplayed. I'm curious where they end this one though.. and this is one of those that gets a 2nd season.. bet on it. Quote
Hikaru Ichijo SL Posted Wednesday at 08:46 PM Posted Wednesday at 08:46 PM Grisaia - Phantom Trigger was so brutal today. Dang, that was a lot of death. Quote
Seto Kaiba Posted Wednesday at 09:34 PM Posted Wednesday at 09:34 PM Ameku M.D. has served up another glorious trainwreck this week. On the one hand, it's surprising that any studio or production committee looked at this amateur hour screenplay and said "Yeah, that's good enough for a TV anime". On the other, it's weirdly impressive how consistent its awfulness is. Its author is supposedly a doctor, but crafted a "medical mystery" story so wildly unbelievable and unscientific that it feels more like a Japanese House MD fanfic than anything. Spoiler Today's episode involves three ten year old kids who are keeping themselves hospitalized indefinitely by repeatedly stealing and precisely self-administering dangerous medications from their floor's nurse's station for weeks to produce specific untraceable symptoms without causing any serious or lasting harm, all while also disposing of all the evidence with perfect precision and somehow never being spotted, recorded on a security camera, or having anyone question why large amounts of potentially lethal medication were disappearing without being administered. Stampeed Valkyrie Posted Thursday at 03:44 PM Posted Thursday at 03:44 PM So apparently Danmachi S5 just wrapped, it was on hiatus and the last episode dropped yesterday. I did a binge of the last 3 episodes and I'm not impressed. I don't think S5 came anywhere close S4, it was all the same things we have seen in previous seasons. God/Goddess wants Bell, all sorts of unreasonable things happen cause the guild or other stupid rules. Then a Wargame.. This is a rinse and repeat of the Apollo(?) arc. The only real positive for this season was Ryu, who also carried much of S4 but was sidelined much of this season due to the same stupid guild rules or other plot elements that only seem to apply to the MC. I am not familiar with the novels, so maybe this is setting up for something else, but TBH I think the Danmachi probably needs to quit while its ahead. Quote

Looking at the wiki its very similar, both have the ability to access some Online Marketplace and summon items. The Daily Life of a Middle-Aged Online Shopper in Another World, primary focus is the "Slow Life" whatever that means is your best guess.. He is able to summon anything in the market place outside of say Illegal items. They both sound very very similar.. but lets be honest so do ALL isekai series. Quote

I would take a Fenrir and a slime (cutest one ever) over the woman of over 40. Quote
Scyla Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago These Solo Leveling cliffhangers are starting to kill me. Why do they have to end where they end. 🥲 Quote
