DuelGundam2099 Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Also, don't watch MS IGLOO because it's horrible; like, not suitable for the eyes of humans horrible. The people who made it are bad and should feel bad that they made this crap horrible. This is incorrect, the CGI was well done and for short MS stories they were pretty likeable with very unique MS variations. Keith Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 Turn A is an actual Tomino show, and phenomenal. If you have to choose between 00 and SEED, I vote 00, just don't waste time with the movie. Quote
ron5864 Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 u know I never made it to the end of Blood Plus. When it came out down here it came as a half set with a full box for both halves. Thats fine... except they then released the second half, more expensive and with its OWN box that is to fit both halves. This nnoyed me enough at the time i never bough part 2. Maybe the 2 sets represent Saya and Diva. The first half was more about Saya, Kai, and Riku. The second half seems darker as Diva's plan sets into motion. Quote
DuelGundam2099 Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 The 00 movie concludes everything though. Quote
Scream Man Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 Yes, but it's pretty bad, and u get mostly a good ending from the series. Quote

isamu Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 What did you think of the 0079 movie trilogy? I thought it was very good! Especially the last movie. Lots of good character development and the tension between Char and Amuro was immense! Watched the first 5 eps of Zeta just now. So far it's...OK. Nothing too amazing and it's sorta hard to follow what's going on with all these new characters, but it's still too early to judge. Quote

Marzan Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 Guys, you do know we have a Gundam thread, right? All things Gundam are covered from "UC versus Correct Century" to the "Is Katz Kobayashi the most annoying fictional character in any medium?" http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=18457&page=31&hl=%2Bgundam+%2Bthread#entry873775 Anyway, back to subject. I really recommend you check out "Kill la KIll" It's by the guys who did Gurren Lagann and has the same sense of style and over the topness. It's being streamed almost worldwide for free on either Daisuki or CR. Quote
technoblue Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 Gurren Lagann is probably in my top ten or so! Thanks, Marzan, I'll check that out. Has anyone been keeping up with Monogatari? This time travel business is taking a turn for the dark, maybe even on the level of Steins;Gate? Quote

Major Focker Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 Anyone watch the Steins;Gate movie yet? i think the BD is out only towards end of the year. i'm really keen to see it. Quote
isamu Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 I just figured that Isamu was trying to avoid spoilers, since he hadn't seen ANY Gundam... Correct Gubbaba. Don't wanna tiptoe into that thread and be met with a slew spoilers. As for Gurren Laggan, hell yes I'm looking forward to watching that series big time! I heard it's one of the greatest shows that's ever existed! Better than Macross even. Just hope it lives up to the hype. I'm wondering if I should watch Gurren Lagaan or Death Note first? DN is another show people claim is right up there with best of the best. You know me guys, I like saving the best for last Quote
DuelGundam2099 Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 I just finished Hurricane Polymar by marathoning the last twelve episodes all day. Very fun and action packed series even if the writing was somewhat stale and the ending was not much. Quote

DuelGundam2099 Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 Hurricane Polymar: Holy Blood. Despite the lack of closure and whiplash between grim and hammy, I thought it was very entertaining, especially the opening theme which was awesome as hell. Quote
Keith Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 (edited) Otorimonogatari: DAMN!!! Nadeko really went all out. I feel so mixed about this upcoming fight. Next weeks episode can't come soon enough. That ending was way too cruel of a stopping point. Edited October 5, 2013 by Keith Quote

DuelGundam2099 Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 (edited) I just finished some three part shonen parody OVA called World War Blue that makes references to the old Nintendo vs. Sega war back in the 90s with a somewhat medieval setting. The action was not bad, but holy frick this had so many problems: -The scene in the beginning being a flash forward never brought up -It paces itself way too fast sometimes, especially with the ending (almost to Gundam Age levels, almost) -Mediocre cast (I swear opal reminds me of Bellows from Gargantia) especially the guy with the pole making waaaaaay too many innuendos -Too much fan service junk -Bad music -Lackluster villains -and the lack of closure So yeah, really dumb and tried to cram too much in a short span of time. With some more scenes and editing this would make a decent movie. Edited October 6, 2013 by DuelGundam2099 Quote
Marzan Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 Otorimonogatari: DAMN!!! Nadeko really went all out. I feel so mixed about this upcoming fight. Next weeks episode can't come soon enough. That ending was way too cruel of a stopping point. This episode will create a new meme, "The bangs came off!" And that was some cliffhanger. Did you also get the impression that Nadeko was referring to Hanekawa as the girl she assumed to be Araragi's girlfriend whilst Tsukihi was talking about was of course Senjougahara? When she went through Araragi's porn collection, most of it was buxom megane girls and Nadeko really thought he was going all out in his likes. Quote
technoblue Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 (edited) Finally caught myself up to the latest gatari cliffhanger over the weekend... NO! I have to wait another week!? During Nadeko's conversation with Tsukihi, she was talking about a girl who "matched" him. Given Tsukihi's knowledge that would indicate Senjougahara. However, because of what happens during the flash-forward fight when Nadeko becomes Nadeko Medusa, I thought she was actually talking about Shinobu. And I think that would make more sense, since Shinobu and Araragi are connected and Nadeko has become infatuated with Koyomi. In other words, the porn may just be part of the usual slap-stick given to Araragi's character and not a real lead. Edited October 7, 2013 by technoblue Quote
Major Focker Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 (edited) dammit! i was supposed to watch Nadeko Medusa in one go. but you guys made me peek...Nadeko is so kawaii! was it the same VA throughout the last episode?! such wicked fun! i caved at the worst possible episode though. that cliffhanger was mean. just watched Mayoi Vamp and i think it's one of my favorite arcs. really can't explain why, specially considering how awesome the Tsubasa Tiger arc was, and that other arcs from previous seasons were all consistently incredible as well. perhaps it's because this arc had a lot of Shinobu (in kimono and twin buns no less). or maybe it's because this is one of the few were the titular character of the arc wasn't saved by a self realization. or maybe it's just a well crafted story. it strikes me as similar to side stories in the Sandman comic, in the sense that at first it feels like a self-contained story outside of the main continuity, but in Gaiman fashion, it is inevitably revealed that it is intricately woven to the overall tale and that it will have profound implications we have yet to see. and i want a Hachikuji/Lara Croft PVC! in other news: - Kill la Kill is going to be one heck of a ride. thanks to the guys who brought it up. - Coppelion has such gorgeous backgrounds but the character animation is subpar. it's like someone was drawing manga on clear acetate and it was overlayed onto a renaissance painting - i've also been entertaining myself with doses of The Daily Lives of High School Boys. i stumbled onto it while randomly following links on youtube. the first one i saw was this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tCa0eh-I1iQ Edited October 7, 2013 by Major Focker Quote
Keith Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 (edited) I agreed with Marzn, that she must have been thinking of Hanekawa. Nafeko hasn't had a run in with Senjougahara yet, and at this rate, never will. Nadeko is smart enough to know it's not Shinobu, as she seems to know at least a bit of that situation. . I can't wait to find out how Kanbaru fits in. Edited October 9, 2013 by Keith Quote
technoblue Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 Just watched the first episode of Kill la Kill... Yeah, that was awesome. But getting back to Mogogatari: That's true. I'll have to watch the episode again. I'm not locked into my interpretation. And what Marzan wrote made a lot of sense. I'm really anxious to see the outcome of Nadeko and Kuchinawa's partnership. I loved watching her break out, even though I understood it may have been the start of a bad turn for her. And how is Oshino's cousin involved? She already seemed to be moving about in time before Koyomi and Shinobu started messing around in the past. I like how this show leaves few (if any) plot holes at the end of each arc, so I hope some of these things materialize. Quote
Scream Man Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 Walkure Romanze - Yeah the first episode was awful. Really awful. Quote
Scyla Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 Walkure Romanze - Yeah the first episode was awful. Really awful. Can you recommend it? I saw one statue form this series at hlj and thought: "this is a nice looking statue. Maybe I should check it out" Quote

Scream Man Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 Written by the same guy. in fact Accel World is set in the future of SAO, though loosely. I prefer SAO myself, but Accel world is fun so far. Quote
Marzan Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 I'm watching Texhnolyxe. Really and i mean really good dark, dystopian sci-fi with bleak landscapes, a subdued color palette and some disturbing themes/scenes. If you need a break from moe, this is it. It's by the same guy who did Lain and Haibane Renmei too. Quote
Major Focker Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 i've had that on the shelf for a while. how does it compare to Ergo Proxy? Quote
