Ghost Train Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 Love the song! Not a big fan of Adele, but please consider the alternatives: Carly Rae J., Lady Gaga, Rihana, etc .... Quote
PetarB Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 Carly Rae J. No, I can't, in any way, consider this. Quote

Mommar Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 Love the song! Not a big fan of Adele, but please consider the alternatives: Carly Rae J., Lady Gaga, Rihana, etc .... Why does everybody assume it has to be by a "modern" artist? Chris Cornell's heyday was well behind him when he did the Casino Royale theme. Jack White (I know he has other outfits) was also already on the outs with his old band. Paul McCartney was WELL beyond his prime by the time Live and Let Die came out. Just get someone who can sing well. I have no problem with Seal, he's got a great voice and likes to experiment with styles. Why not him? Quote
Agent ONE Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 Saw it in the UK two days ago. Its awesome! Quote

areaseven Posted October 30, 2012 Author Posted October 30, 2012 (edited) As I've never missed a Bond film in cinemas since A View to a Kill, I will watch this tonight. And a 94% rating on Rotten Tomatoes really makes up for all the lost time between films.P.S.: While this is not the original video, it's a surprise that the producers didn't actually upload it on YouTube. Mommar Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 So you guys who have already seen it think it's pretty good, huh? That's good to hear. It's not out until a week from Friday in the states. I can't wait to see it. Quote

I like Adele, but there are as complete if not far better alternative vocals. Lacuna Coil, Nightwish, Avril Lavigne, Tarja Turunen, Metric , Christina Aguilera, Florence and the Machine... Actually these are all better. Edited November 4, 2012 by Omegablue Quote

Major Focker Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 easily on my top 5. shame to see Dame Judi Dench go. i really liked her as M and was hoping she'd do one more after this. it's reassuring though that the reins have been passed to the capable hands of Ralph Fiennes. Quote

areaseven Posted November 6, 2012 Author Posted November 6, 2012 What, she gets killed? Yup, that's what happened. Also, for the first time since On Her Majesty's Secret Service, the bad guy won. Quote

Omegablue Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 Agree on Duran Duran, but I also enjoy A-Ha's. Quote
Major Focker Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 i must be getting old. was a big fan of Duran Duran and A-HA during the 80's but even then, i felt A View to A Kill was one of the middling Bond songs and Living Daylights dead last. somehow, i always associate Bond with big band/orchestra. guess i'm old fashioned that way. Agent ONE Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 Did you like it as much as Casino Royale? A close second to Casino. It is a direct sequel to the other two, and sequels are by definition of lower merit. This movie really broke through some of the barriers other Bond movies never touched. There was more in it for hardcore Bond fans of all the films, but at the same time, he was definitely a human character who is just super tough.. In comparison, the Connery/Moore characters seem more silly over time. Quote

To me, they were about as awe-inspiring as Austin Powers. As for Skyfall, I'm glad to hear it's a direct sequel to the first two films... Quote
electric indigo Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 Connery and Moore fit perfectly into what Bond movies were expected to be at their time. I guess we'll find the Craig Bonds silly some day, too. - I found this track from the Weekend Players' (=Groove Armada) unreleased album very Bond-y: Plaything Quote

To me, they were about as awe-inspiring as Austin Powers. As for Skyfall, I'm glad to hear it's a direct sequel to the first two films... Connery gets the nod for being the first. However, I think he's in the worst position. At least for Roger Moore his movies were camp but he always played that up with a wink and smile as well so he fits in with his continuity. Connery was sometimes too serious, but the movie around him was stupid/flimsy, so it looks even worse. I'm very excited to see this new one, maybe partly (it's more than partly) because I share the same name as the actor playing Bond. It is a direct sequel to the other two, Really? I thought this third one was supposed to be a clean break from the last two? I found this track from the Weekend Players' (=Groove Armada) unreleased album very Bond-y: Plaything (1/2 of Groove Armada). They had an unreleased album? Just the other day I was thinking it was a bummer another Weekend Players Album never happened. Oh, and thanks for the link. I'm very interested in the whole album. Marzan Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 Saw the film today. Pretty entertaining 2 hours and 23 minutes if you ask me. Was really surprised with M's death, but then again Judi Dench isn't getting any younger. She's done a fabulous job with the transition from Brosnan to Craig and the 'rawer' James Bond. And I thought that Javier Bardem delivered one of the best villain performances I have seen in a Bond film. The bit were he takes his fake jaw and teeth was fabulously creepy. Quote

This album is kinda different from their only other one, Pursuit of Happiness. There's more progressive house type tracks on their first Pursuit. These tracks here have obviously been influenced by both Later Productions as Groove Armada and the emergence of Nudisco. Quote
Agent ONE Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 Really? I thought this third one was supposed to be a clean break from the last two? Clean break in that if you have not seen the other two you won't be lost, but it fits into a timeline... The other films could be watched in any order whereas this one does come after Quantum. Quote
Mommar Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 Other than era, since Casino Royale is supposed to be his first mission and Quantum comes right after you could say that EVERY movie comes after those two. Quote
