derex3592 Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 Awesome story @nightmareB4macross! Good on you and your daughter especially at 13 wanting to do that with you! I'm sure that's a memory your kids will always look back on and cherish! Quote
nightmareB4macross Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 (edited) Thanks Jenius and Derex. Just having my daughter work on this with me was astounding and to top it off with my son’s help was sheer joy. Now they feel like they can build anything and they have the proof to show it. My daughter, according to her future plans of education will be Deerfield, Amherst, and graduate from MIT. This girl is incredibly smart and can definitely accomplish her goal. So proud of her. reddsun1 Posted August 23, 2021 Posted August 23, 2021 Time to clear up some wall space for posters of an icon for a new generation, kiddies. It's the new Lamborghini Aventa---er, Countach! The Aventatach! 🤨 Apparently, only 112 will be built, and it seems that this "new" model has already sold-out. Some are accusing Lamborghini of a cynical cash-grab, as this is not a new car, but rather just a re-skin of an existing model now considered long-in-the-tooth [they didn't even change the window glass]. David Hingtgen Posted August 24, 2021 Posted August 24, 2021 I don't think there was ever a white prototype Countach like that in the left background. I think that intake design was one-of-a-kind, on the yellow one. Maybe you could just paint some extra framing on the Aventador window-glass, and give it that Countach side-window look? Quote

I ran into a stupid good deal on a Countach in 2002 and like a dummy passed it up. I would either have a super cool old super car right now. Or the stupid money that they're selling for. I really need to fix my crystal ball. Quote

Or those fender flares. Is that "normal"? Or a special model? Miata's are an absolute blast to drive! My Mom had 4-5 of them in a row (company cars). The firs time I drove one I had it drifting through corners in about 5min. They just beg to be driven HARD. They're so balanced, telepathic and "chuckable" it's amazing. If I wasn't such a stupid HP junkie I'd have one. But I'm not that smart. Quote

Not sure about those roofs, must be an optional thing instead of the fabric roof but those wheel flares are standard for that series. Might just be the photo angle that makes them look more pronounced. Yeah they are a great little car to drive. My father has this same NC model and I considered getting one before I got my SS so I got to drive several of them during my decision making process. The NC series is definitely more refined than the earlier ones but I think the earlier models NA and NB in particular are more fun to drive. Quote

If I wasn't such a stupid HP junkie I'd have one. But I'm not that smart. It is a power retractable roof, and the wheel arches are stock. Yes, I love the way it drives, but it is a visceral experience. You basically feel everything on the road. I really love this lil' thing. Telepathic is a good way to describe it. I've had power and speed for over 12 years, and now I finally decided to go the fun way, rather than the not to 60 way. The thing for me is a fast car is fun driven fast, but these lil Mx-5 are fun all the time. It is not for everyone, but I truly enjoy it. Honestly it is a useless a car in every other sense, as it is only intended to be driven. This is the GT trim, so it has LSD, 6 speed MT, leather, heated seats, Xenon headlamps, and it is my daily driver. I know it might add a little weight, but I really wanted these items. Same here, it took me years to go for a less powerful engine, but I am so glad I finally did it. I did install Mister R coilovers, so the ride height is slightly lower than stock. I did drive an NB in my research process, but I have to say, even when this NC2 mk3.2 is the fattest of them all, it is my favorite. I am not entirely sure, but I believe the only previous owner installed a lightened flywheel. It revs so fast, it is crazy. The NC2 is actually a shortened and lightened RX-8 chasis, but it is not that much heavier than previous iterations. I got Flying Miata Kogeki wheels at 15.6lb and lightened lugnuts, and it really feels amazing in any situation. I am not going to super or turbocharge it. The mission is to follow the Lotus philosophy: "add lightness". I may get a lighter exhaust, and lighter 2 piece rotors later on. This car won't win you any drag races, but it is fun from the moment you start it to the moment you park it. I've had 2 modified WRX[s] and loved them, but I adore this little car. Have you posted pics of your SS? I can't rememeber. Edited November 29, 2021 by vlenhoff Quote

Less powerful to me is 800hp. My problem is that I have been around really fast cars and motorcycles my entire life. My perceptions are all screwed up. If it's not trying to kill me........it's too slow. I wish I were more mature.........HaHa, not really! Quote
