Chronocidal Posted November 25, 2024 Posted November 25, 2024 At this point I would much rather see a re-release of the original version. One of the few really accurate vehicles that they pretty well nailed on the first try. Quote

You mean the Naboo Fighter from 1999? 🤨 Hah, didn't realize they actually made a second version. I really only meant the first version though, I don't think the gimmicks in the re-release really add anything (maybe the sliding canopy, but the tracks are oversized). I mostly just meant that the original release pretty well nailed the look and size though, compared with how so many of the vehicles produced in that timeframe got gonkified to cram a figure into a reasonably-sized toy. It also came from that long-lost era where toys came with dedicated buttons to play specific sound effects, rather than one button that cycles or randomizes a bunch of assorted sound effects and voice clips. I have quite a few from this line so I need to be selective with future releases. So many cool ships and vehicles. I like them more than Action Fleet. Here are some of my favorites: Quote

I missed out on the original Action Fleet E-Wing, and would love to grab a couple of these. And as much as I hate how they screwed up the X-Wing molds, having a set of five unique schemes is a pretty nice deal (provided it's on sale for about $40 or less, because the X-Wings feel like some of the cheapest plastic and manufacturing I've ever seen). sh9000 Posted December 31, 2024 Posted December 31, 2024 These MGS ships all look good and are close to scale to one another. Quote
sh9000 Posted January 3 Posted January 3 The Haslab TVC Ghost (1/47 scale) is a nice toy but I'm glad I didn't order it. It's incorrectly scaled, incorrectly proportioned, from the wrong TV series, and way overpriced at $500+. Quote
tekering Posted January 3 Posted January 3 Incorrectly scaled? Incorrectly proportioned? Way overpriced? Sounds just like any other TVC, Hasbro, or Kenner vehicle. 🤕 There are exceptions, of course -- Luke's Landspeeder, the TVC Snowspeeder and Speeder Bikes, and at least one TIE Fighter release was correctly scaled -- but the vast majority are way off, despite how often they're reissued, retooled, and continuously increase in price. Your MGS ships are more accurately scaled and proportioned than Hasbro's, but... not by much. 😒 Quote
Mog Posted January 3 Posted January 3 It’s always been an issue with the vehicles. Hell, you could argue that the GI Joe 3.75” and especially the Classified lines’ planes are way underscaled too. Anyone who’s been a TVC collector always knew there would be compromises with the Ghost. But even at this “underscaled” size, the TVC Ghost is a hefty fricken beast. Between its massive shelf presence and the ease with which I was able to customize it, I’m glad I backed this. Considering how little was made in the TVC scale for Rebels, it’s a minor miracle that Hasbro made this AND made figures of the main characters’ later seasons appearances. Quote

Mog Posted January 4 Posted January 4 (edited) I got the laundry list of mods (and pics) over in the What’s Lying on Your Workbench thread: But here’s a pic of the fully customized ship for this thread: Had a ton of fun modding it up. The one thing I didn’t mention was just adding adhesive putty to keep a few items/chairs from moving around inside the Ghost. Edited January 4 by Mog Quote
